in response to Kings Hill Addick, drink driving is premeditated. If you go out in your car and drink and are prepared to drive home then what ever occurs afterwards is premeditated. Not as if he couldn't afford a taxi home. Anyone who drink drives is scum and is risking the lives of others by doing so.
You are assuming that he went out with the intention of driving home in a terrible state. I know many people, including me, that have driven to a drinking session with the intention of having just one, and/or soft drinks, then changing their mind and having a proper drink. Most sensible people, again, me included, then decide not to drive home. Thus driving to the pub (or where ever) doesn't constitute the premeditated decision to drive home drunk.
Again, I'm not condoning him, and I don't know what his intentions were, he may well have decided in the morning to get so drunk he couldn't stand and then drive home as fast as he could and run as many red lights as possible, but I think the decision to drive that drunk was probably made under the influence of alcohol.
Anyone that decides to drink and drive while sober is, as Leroy suggests, not a nice person, but we all do things after we have drunk that we wouldn't dream of doing sober, and maybe, just maybe, he is in this category. I'm just inclined to give him the benefit of doubt when I don't know for sure.
what if powelly signs Hughes in January? He scores a shed load of goals and fires us to promotion....
Would you boo him?
I just can't see Powell ever doing that. He (Powell, not Hughes) has the nice guy rep for a reason, and seems to be a man very much of his principles. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit but I don't think he'd ever associate with a nasty piece of work like Hughes. Not to mention, Hughes is probably too old to be a first choice target if any, for the amount of money they'd want you could easily get someone younger and with more potential.
Brings shame on the club when a player does something like this, so i feel for County fans. I remember when Bowyer was done for racist assault, i was very sad for our reputation.

the bowyer/woodgate incident was long after he left us wasn't it? You mean when he was caught smoking a spliff with another academy player?
he was never humble enough on the pitch after the incident he seemed to thrive on the abuse and comments , i am not saying it must be easy to put up with the taunting but to revel in it the way he does, its as if he never wants it to be forgotten or left alone,

Thats what I thought, although not sure when the McDonalds incident was, that may have been while he was with us.

Where are all the "Innocent til proven guilty" people today ?
Er....he has not been found guilty of anything yet, has he? He's only been charged with an offence, it could still be dropped or he could still be found not guilty.

The McDonalds thing was when he was a kid at Charlton as was the drugs "offence" - although he was not caught "smoking a spliff with another player" he and Dean Chandler both failed a drugs test at the training ground.
The racist attack with Woodgate happened while they were both at Leeds.
Thats My point: after last Thursdays "Arrests" of 9 "CAFC" supporters some people said "They're innocent til proven guilty". Is lee hughes not in the same position ?

Would you boo him?
