He probably will, I am not denying that Kermogant is better than Hayes. We all know that, but I think that is testament to just how good Kermogant is. If we were talking about the total striker i would say he is far better than Wright Phillips too!He probably will end up 4th choice but that by no means shows that he is shit!
Better than BWP as a STRIKER??? Maybe if you were to say the best all round forward he'd be above BWP, you didn't say that though... For that reason, you are officially mental.
Careful, the trialist will accuse you of being a palace fan next. Crticise a professional footballer? Do you not realise they are superhuman and our opinion is worthless in comparison?
Ah look i dont want to stir an argument that is my own personal opinion!I dont see what is so bad about that statement, The bottom line is there are a few people comparing Hayes to Kermogant which is completely wrong. And that is one of the main reasons why I am so happy with all 3 of them, they all have their own plus sides to their game!
I agree with cafc_se7 here. They're all different. You can't compare them because they're different players. I'd have BWP and Kermy up front to start but Hayes is a nice player to bring on because he is very different.
sat in the west lower and had this really weird old couple about 75 years old with their daughter next to me , the old fella would slag everything we did off and as soon as the old woman did he'd tell her to be quiet , it was comical and he lost his rag telling her to be quiet he got up and left after 55 mins ... bizarre!
Haha think I was sat the row behind that couple C block?

Hayes is okay but not in Kermo and BWP's league. His game is similar to Kermo's but he's nowhere near as good at it. To say his touch is terrible is wrong as well and he'll be good enough as a sub this year but can't see him coming along as we rise up through the divisions. Kermo and BWP is a partnership that i think will be good enough to get us out of the championship. Both are excellent at what they do.
Surely what we should recognise is that Hayes has made a great contribution to the squad this season rather than running him down?
Its squad game and whilst CP has brought players like Yann in, the others like Hayes, Hughes, Waggy, Cort, Pritchard, Sullivan, Euell and Evina are a vital part of a winning team. Lets praise them all rather than picking out our favourites and dissing the one we like least.
This is relatively speaking, the strongest squad we have had for many a year. There is competition for every place and no player (perhaps with the exception of BWP) is safe from being sidelined if their form takes a nose-dive.
Jacko's injury was seen by some as a signal that the team would start to under-perform. Instead our esteemed leader has strengthened the squad again. He above all sees squad strength as the key. We have in my view the strongest squad in this division by some way.
I suggest that is exactly what we as fans want. It is why we could take on a strong team like Huddersfield, get our noses in front, and then hold them at bay. It is why we got a strangle hold on the game against The Blades and never let it go.
There are only 11 players who can make the starting team each game. We need to get behind the rest and support what CP has created.
There is one thing having a decent touch in a school or Sunday game and another with defenders snapping at your heels. If you don't understand what it is like at a really competitive level I would guess the level you played in wasn't that high. Hayes has shown on key occasions a vision that is above the league we are in and scored and created important goals.
Can't see why in this season why anybody has to pick holes in the performances of any of our players. Seriously males me despair sometimes!
No doubt the size of the squad is playing a part in the performances of the starting players, as Bing said players know they have to keep playing well to stay in the team.
Hayes might only be a League 1 player but he's played an important part so far, something like 3 goals and 5 assists. He also linked up well (and very quickly) with BWP. He's been a bit inconsistent but so have two other creative players in Stephens and Green.
Hayes and Waggy don't look like they're suited to each other, but it was their first game as a partnership up front. Same with Evina and Wiggins, probably too similar but they've barely played together. Remember BWP and Kermorgant struggled to link up in their first start.

Like everybody else, I have nothing but praise for CP and the way he has taken us to the top with a new squad this year. However he frightens me when he gets his violin out and starts fiddling with the team. Yes I know that he wants to give people a game, and it might be a bit churlish to ask, but why the hell did we play the first half with no striker on the pitch? You might tell me that Hayes is a striker, but if he is then I'm the Prince of Wales ! He works hard, produces some good passes, but needs to be playing with what I call a proper striker and Wagstaff is never that. With exactly the same squad we could have played Wagstaff on the right, with Hayes and MIchael Smith up front, and he would still have had Green, Kermorgant and BWP on the bench for the second half. OK we won, but thats my opinion.
Well if Hayes is not a proper striker perhaps you would like to comment on how he has managed to make over 400 appearences in that position as a professional (approx 150 at champioship level) and scored over 100 goals.
Similarly I suspect he wanted another chance to see if Wagstaff could play up top, because a) the evidence from early season is that he could provide a goal threat b) Wagstaff in his youth did play up front c) we need cover for Wright Phillips so if Powell can identify/ fashion another striker from within the squad then he has more options to use whatever limited budget he has available to strengthen the squad in January.
The same can be said for his playing Euell in the earlier round of the cup Powell needs to know whether he still has the ability to provide more than experienced cover through sundry cameo roles and deliver what the squad will need going forward.. You can only find that out by giving people the opportunity to show what they can do on the pitch.
So whilst you are entitled to your opinion I suggest you try and take a broader view.
THEMCA - The fact you claim school boys have better touches than Hayes tells me that you havent been to a football game in your life let alone played it at a decent standard (who cares what you have done)! This isnt about opinions, this is about what is already set in stone...the fact he has scored a bag full of goals to fire us to the top........

I know where you're coming from with this Granpa. I agree that although Hayes is a forward, he's not a goal-scoring striker (big difference). This is not aking anything away from Hayes, who I think is very good at the job he does. I think the one problem we have within the squad is, apart from BWP, we don't have another poacher type player. Neither Hayes, Kermorgant or Euell are ever going to be prolifc in front of goal and that just leaves Benno who CP obviously doesn't want. This is something I hope CP will address in January because if BWP get injured, We'll find ourselves lacking in that department.
Agreed Tango - Hayes is Kermo's understudy but we don't have an understudy for BWP which, as we all know, could be a problem. I don't think there's many that don't appreciate what Hayes does and where he stands in the squad. Because a few posters haven't articulated themselves correctly and have gone a bit overboard shouldn't preclude people from giving opinions and shouldn't really necessitate the predicable, 'you don't know what your talking about, this level is way beyond your comprehension' as that is as equally misguided as the former.
Hi Grapevine, opinions will always vary, but if you read the Players Marks thread and the comments on Hayes you may find it interesting. It will also give you a broader view.

Great post, Bing.
Says it all for me.
We could do with signing proper back up for BWP, but who's a proven goalscorer, affordable yet happy to sit on the bench?

awful first half, very good second half, Pritchard was the stand out performer for me.
looking forward to Fulham, decent day out although I suspect it will be moved to the Sunday given that Chelsea also drawn at home.
OMG ! Are your Uggs OK, Plaaayer ?
