  • Sounded as though we were in a traning match first half......CP must have had a word or two with them at HT.....2nd half sounded a good game and he clearly wanted to win.....hence Kermy and BWP on with 15 mins or so left.....CP has a winning mentality and won't settle for anything else quite clearly.....Pritchard sounded very good as did Cort and Wiggy......Green must have run his socks off....all round a professional performance is my summing up.
  • were all going to wembley and nolly will be happy, la la la la...
  • We did enough to win and we were more clinical than Carlisle by the sounds of it.

    COYR!!!!!!!!!!
  • Wasnt too bothered before the match, glad the 2nd string got a run out so means some rest time for majority of the squad.

Now that we're through hoping for a big game where we put in good performance and lose narrowly, sounds negative but all i care about is the league this season. i dont think a cup run will be positive for our league chances.

Also shows how good the depth of our squad is beating another league 1 team with them.
  • Haven't conceded a goal in four games. Good going.

Put yourself in Carlisle's boots .....

Dominated the 1st half and should probably have been leading at halftime, before going a goal down.

Then we send on Kermorgant and BWP.

    and Euell. ; )
  • Not sure what gear we played in or how many we even have but we upped gear when required with ease. Not sure that any of the players coming in today did enough to oust the first eleven but I though Cort was excellent and Hayes awful. The others did ok without looking anything special. Man City at The Valley next round please.
  • Laboured in the first half, much better second half. Pritchard, Cort and Evina gave decent accounts of themselves. Sullivan looked a lot more confident than he did against Halifax.

Atmosphere in the first half reminded me of the Pardew / Parkinson era - some booing and abuse directed at particular players such as Solly, Wagstaff and even Wiggins at one point. An unwelcome reminder of the 'bad old days' in recent years

  • can't believe for a minute there was booing for solly wiggins and waggy madness if so
  • I didn't go today. Why was there booing in an FA Cup Second round??? Does it affect our one aim?
  • No booing in the lower west.
  • Well if there was booing, the booers should be lined up in front of their families and...

    ;-)
  • First half both teams were poor. Second half we were good and Carlisle were still poor. Green was easily our biggest threat and Cort grew into the game despite a shaky start.

I was in the covered end lower - there was a patch of booing towards the end of the first half and a few bits of abuse e.g. Solly missed a tackle and some bloke shouts "Solly you're shit" and so on, just like the old days (alright, two years ago!). Made me laugh in a grim sort of way - of all the players to slag off!
  • Agreed about first half, couldn't even get the basics right and resulted to long ball stuff, think Carlisle realised they could play better than us. Second half we came out and started knocking it about quite well, thought Hollands and Pritchard did well together although I have my doubts about Pritchard defensively but did well enough. Green seemed to wake up at half time and again played some lovely balls about.

I think we can agree Waggy does not work as a forward, just didn't look right to me at all today. Cort also looks like a 50 year old pub player on the ball but put it in the air and he will win it more times than not. Now the slight moans are out of the way can I say I thought Solly was magnificent, each time I see him he seems to get better and better, the number of times an inexperienced player would have dived in but he just stayed on his feet and played some decent stuff going forward. Mom for me.
  • Great to see us bringing in some squad players and still winning!

Pritchard, Wagstaff, Hayes & Cort in particular are likely to be key players for the rest of the season.

    Come On Charlton!

  • First half we didnt turn up. Carlisle were the better side, without causing us any real problems.

Second we improved but never looked like we doing more than we had to.

Sullivan had a good game. Solly mom and a class act. Had Loy and the Zoko in his pocket.

Didnt think Wiggins and Evina worked. Both too similar.

Front two a huge disappointment. We need another forward in January.

Would like a top half Championship side next. Good yard stick to measure our progress.

Very disjointed poor first half when Carlisle were the better side. Defence was a bit shaky early on Cort took a while to get into it. Midfield never got going, Hayes was at his frustrating best and Wagstaff ran and chased down to little effect. Second half, after no doubt a stern talking to from the boss, things were much better and Pritchard was the most improved player for me only just losing out to Morrison as MOM and whose tap in goal from a corner, capped off another solid performance. There's an old adage that the best line of defence is attack and with our main strike force of Big Yann and BWP coming on with 10 minutes to go, Carlisle were kept on the back foot. Evina dissappionted and did not look comfortable in front of Wiggins. Great ball across the box by Big Yann for Euell to scramble home the second. Not the most entertaining of matches but job done and lets hope we get a decent draw in the 3rd round.

1st half was a bit like after the Lord Mayors show , considering it came after the Huddersfield game , very stop start , no fluidity in our movement , Hayes & Waggy really disappointed, and showed why they are bench players at the moment rather than in the starting lineup , Hayes did one amazing flick in the 2nd half , but that was about it , the bloke behind kept laying into him ( he was poor, just hope our bench couldn't hear him!)

2nd half you hoped we were going to be better , and we were,  Bradley Pritchard was spraying the ball around like Glenn Hoddle , and winning tackles like Mark Kinsella , what a find!

Pleased we won thought Sullivan made some crucial saves at pivotal times in the game , Wiggins & Solly were what we've become used to in the league , pacy & tenacious.

No Andy Hughes? not in the team or on the bench?
  • Had Dale Stephens and his gf/baby in the suite behind me, then along came JJ, Hamer, Taylor and Benson for a bit too, it looked warm in there :(
  • We seemed to treat it like a training game in the first half and that was matched by the lack of noise from both sets of supporters.

2nd half was a much better game. More urgency and we deservedly won.

Pritchard was the stand out man to me. What a great buy he is and looks good at this level. Sullivan had a good game between the sticks. Confident and made a few good saves when required. A little confusion in the defence at times but Cort showed that he is an able reserve but won't be dislodging Taylor or Morrison in the near term.

Hayes worked hard, his touch at times was poor and other times good. Wagstaff didn't do much up top and it really doesn't seem to work for me in that position. Evina looked pretty useful again as well.

United had a couple of chances of merit but really were not much of a threat.

Comfortable win - 1st gear 1st half and 2nd gear 2nd half. We have a few more in reserve...
  • No Alonso as well! Not even in the suite behind NP.
  • Not much mention of Sullivan on here! Thought he had a great game as did Solly. jury still out on Pritchard. Good second half performance.
  • How did Loy play? he was quality in the league game.

Thought Hayes was better than some on here rated him.  Some clever ideas some of which came off and others that didn't.

as others said ramped it up 2nd half and cruised it.   Pritchard and Solly both did well.  Disappointed with Evina but he was out of position in an unfamiliar team.

Move on to the league which matters with no injuries and the fringe playes given a run out.   Sounds like Nathan's lounge had an good team out.   Nice to hear Stephens and his partner were there.

  • And Benno, Henry.
  • No booing in the lower west.

Or anywhere in earshot in the East
