You've changed your tune. Do you still think he was our buy of the season and his assist at MK makes him equivalent to Messi? He was useless like he has been most times he's appeared this season.
Got outmuscled pretty comprehensively. Played long ball too much. Kermit won a lot of headers but either didn't direct them well or was unaware of the position of his teammates. BWP, Wiggins and Solly had good games. Others mediocre or poor.
League One at it's worst. Can only recall 2 moments of quality - a cross from Green that Taylor (I think) nearly got on the end of, and JJ's composure for the pen. Their goal was a lucky fluke.
Disappointing first half. Especially as I'd brought 147 kids from school to watch their first charlton game. What's going on with green, not a good performance and didn't look interested.
I fookin hate Tranmere, the most irratating, cynical team in the league made worse by the fact that they can actually play decent football when they're not trying to kill the game as a spectacle.
As for us, a really disjointed performance but we were worth the point. Thought Kerm and Green didn't have great games but I wouldn't be too hard on them. Hayes and Wagstaff play their respective positions in very different ways and I think the rest of the team were looking for their movement rather than the new lads. I'd probably persist with Green for a couple more games (as Waggy was allowed three off games)but drop kerm back to the bench for the time being as we did miss Hayes' workrate.
I think a 1-1 draw was a fair result today. A massive deflection off Solly put them deservedly ahead as the goal was certainly coming. A better 2nd half performance from us .We missed Hayes today IMO as we tend to play it more on the ground when he is in. Otherwise it was long ball and in fairness to Kermo , he won a lot of headers but nobody was forward enough to capitalise. They pressured us throughout and never gave us a sniff but if Hayes was there , with his ability to link play quickly, we may have been able to stretch them and drag them out of position more oft to create chances but it wasn't to be. Green and Jackson spent too much time defending for me leaving us no outlets but the long ball at times.Waggy alas didnt change it too much but put a spring in Sollys step. I think he (solly) needs to become less reliant on Waggy and just play his natural game, without fear and with confidence because he certainly has the goods, just in case Waggy picks up a bad injury. But a point is a point and it may be the difference near the end. .Still top and the team to catch.
Don't think the relatively poor performance was due to the changes made - the whole team never got going until the second half with Morrison definitely the MoM
I think we need to give Tranmere credit for stopping us playing our natural game in the first half - reason the ball was hit so long all the time was because Tranmere put pressure on our full backs preventing Hamer from throwing it out to them - also Stephens and Hollands were overrun in the centre.
At least 2 of their players should have been booked for encroachment and gamesmanship before the penalty and keeper lucky not to go in the book for picking the ball up after JJ had spotted it - hats off to JJ for keeping his cool in the face of a long delay
Kermorgant looks useful in the air and has a good touch but not sure he holds the ball up as well as Hayes - also goes to ground a bit easily - needs to be told to get up and play to the whistle
After such a poor first half I'll take a point although we could have nicked it at the end.

Except it seemed to change the entire method of play. Balls into feet when Hayes plays v long punts in the air when Kermit is up front. May be that's why he's such a good sub - long aerial balls work better when the oppo's defence is tiring after being given the run-around on the deck for 65/70 mins?
At the game and bwp must play ever so well away from home because for the last two home games he has without doubt been the worst player on the pitch and Hayes should have been brought on at the start of the second half. I cannot believe the hype around this guy and if we get promotion we should sell him straight away UNLESS he starts to fight for the cause like his team mates. The goal against chesterfield was his only saving grace and I challenge anyone to tell me what great feat he did today. I am all for getting behind the team and hate any kind of booing but why is bwp an automatic choice for everybody? It is surely all hype and the seven goals could arguably be scored by others in the same position and today I conclude that Kermorgent who is a really great player should be paired with Hayes as together they would be strong and FIGHT for the ball unlike BWP who does not know the meaning of the word and I believe was the reason we did not score more goals. Also Powell should keep the same starting line up as before except BWP . BWP has to know that complacency has no place at Charlton and he seems to think he is an automatic choice. Powell should not let him get too big for his boots. There I bet noone agrees!

Are you seriously suggesting Powell drops Bradley Wright Phillips?.

dumbest post of the season so far, only 12 games in but that will take some beating
I am saying that that there should be no player who thinks he is an automatic shoe-in. You only have to watch his play; today and against chesterfield it was dire. Just look at the way he played and tell me one good thing he did today. His passing was poor. He rarely harries any player and only speeds up when he has the ball, never when chasing back to defend. The attitude is all wrong and yes Kermorgent and Hayes especially at home as they are honest players who work for the team and not themselves.
Big enough deflection on the shot from solly to swerve it away from hamer (i was directly behind the shot). I wouldnt have put the shot going past the far post if it didnt get a touch on solly.
Outplayed in the first half, they played better football. Then they scored and they stopped playing there football and started timewasting.
Dale Stephens made alot of mistakes today and also started flying into challenges, was just waiting for him to get one horribly wrong.
Good to get a point even though we didnt play well, however theres not any more room for mistakes at the time being if we want to stay top. We wont pull away, itl be a battle all the way.

I doubt whether Powell abandoned his normal passing game and told them to change their style of play due to Kermorgant playing up front - I noticed Hamer looking to throw the ball out to the wings a few times in the first half but the 2 Tranmere wide men were very quick to close Solly and Wiggins down and give Hamer no option but to kick it long. I think Tranmere closed us down well and upset our normal passing game - a similar thing happened against Sheff Weds when Hayes and Wagstaff both played and we were guilty then of resorting to the long ball as well - when Charlton go long it usually means we aren't playing well as a team. I agree though about Kermorgant as an impact sub when the defence are tiring - Wagstaff also useful in such situations with his pace.

He is paid to score. He scored in 2 of the last 3 games. He is top scorer overall. Name me a league one manager who would not pick him. And running lots doesn't make you any more worthy of a shirt. His touch is one of the best in the squad.
That may be the dumbest post of the season and have no problem with that but you have not answered the challenge as to what contribution bwp has made today and for 92 minutes of the chesterfield game. Lets not for one moment encourage him to become complacent by letting him think that his performance was acceptable and treat him with kid gloves. Powell should be strong and not influenced by hype and judge people on their merits.
Sorry, just got in, and haven't read the above, but I honestly thought Tranmere deserved 3 points today. They come to The Valley to win ( I don't think many teams will do that) and even after We scored they were still going for the 3 points. From the start they had players out wide, and with their centre-forward ( My MOM) they were attacking. Summed it up after He sliced wide, but within 20 seconds He had chased back and won the ball, turning it into another attack: How many other C/F's would do that ?
A draw was the most we deserved in all honesty. I'm struggling to remember a shot on target in the first half for example.
In my view Wiggins and to a lesser extent Morrison, Taylor and Jackson (for his composure re all the penalty shenanigans) are the only players who performed to par today. After the postings on here painting him as the league one Messi Green was disappointing but, unlike Waggy's detractors, I won't judge him just on today. Powell must have seen something in him to buy him.
Our midfield, particularly in the first half, was almost non-existent and I remarked to the bloke next to me that a Tranmere goal was coming 10 seconds or so before Mc Gurk (?spelling) hit his shot which took a deflection to leave Hamer wrongfooted. Second half we were better but again I can only really remember a shot from Stephens and a weak shot on the turn from BWP on target other than the penalty.
All that said I would have taken a win today and a draw last week all day long. We just did it the "wrong" way round!

There were a few very muted boos at HT. Nothing else. Given the dross served up for 70 odd mins I thought the crowd were paitient.
How dare you - haven't you heard of 'banter' blah blah...prawn sandwiches...blah blah...it's football..etc etc. I had to cover my daughter's ears.
However, it's hard to disagree with the general gist of the chant.

Were you at the bar geting a drink in, then? Everyone else in the ground saw it!
