Our next game is in the JPT, we must, according to the rules, play " 6 players who started the last league game, or 6 of 11 who have made the most appearences this season". For us it is pretty much the same thing. My questions are these; do we need it? Do we bother taking it seriously? Can (or should we have) we do (done) a Manchester United and not entered at all (and I mean the year they didn't enter the FA cup, not that Manchester United haven't entered the JPT for all you pendants out there!)
We can rest 5 first teamers, who are they? For me BWP, Hollands, Stephens are shoo-ins for a rest, plus two others, but lets remember Pritchard and Bover are injured! Wagstaff could make way to give Green game time, would our lack of centre halves get Doherty a game?
I really think we should find some way of not being in this, ideally we'll go up, and not have to bother next year. Looking around, it seems that flaunting these rules gets a £5000 pound fine, so lets say 1000 of us agree to turn up on Wednesday, knowing the club will pick an 11 "illegal" team for this competition, I reckon the club makes a loss from hosting home games in this competition anyway, would be interesting to find out how much, another reason why I think we're better off without it, does anyone seriously think we'll win it?
Again, from looking around the web it seems that alot of managers disagree, or could do without these selection rules, so who exactly benefits (aside from the winner) benefits from the JPT?
I throw it open to the floor......

Rules is rules so gotta rest our 5 most important players and do a megson and sub 3 of the others who we don't want to play
But I'm sure charlton fans would start crying about that cos they can't see the bigger picture and might have paid five or ten quid and wanna see the first team blah blah blah
But no idea who to rest !!
In SCP we trust
If we have to play in this pointless game (Which we do), and we have to choose 6 first teamers (Which we do). Then I would choose the 6 players who will cause the least exposure if they get Injured,
So that's Hayes and Waggy (both of who may not be first choice by next Saturday), Hammer,Taylor, Morrow, Wiggins.
The next most important thing is that the team know that under no circumstances are they to try to win, To that end I would play Taylor in goal and fill in the other 5 places with Popo, Francis, Hughes, Euell and Smith. This will have the added advantage that Taylor will get a game and Powel can decide if we can start naming 5 outfield players in the league matches.
Taylor
Francis,Hughes,Morrow,Wiggins
Waggy, Euell Smith, Hammer
Hayes, Popo
I nwould then Substitute Hammer for one of our dev midfielders (Bover/Davidson) early in the game.
Absolutely love the idea of Taylor in goal! This is the best suggestion, and would show that we have contempt for the competition without breaking the rules!
Love It!
Would go for Hamer over Sullivan, more important to rest outfield players than a keeper.
Hamer
Solly Doc Morrison Evina
Green Hughes Stephens Wagstaff
Kermit Euell
Sub Stephens after 23 seconds
The bulk of the changes I'd make would be in defence, defenders are more likely to get bookings and we don't need stupid injuries and suspensions being handed out as a result of this match.
--------------Hamer------------
Francis-Doherty-Morrison-Evina
Green-Hughes-Stephens-Jackson
-------Benson---Hayes-------
Hamer
Francis---Cort---Morro----Wiggins
Waggy---Hollands (to be subbed)---Hughes----Evina
Hayes---Benno
