Just read this on accrington forum, sounds promising.
Contrast that with the brilliant Michael Smith who was still galloping around on 90+4 minutes. Smith not only bagged a hat trick and an assist but also blocked a shot which looked certain to go in. His movement, technical ability and awareness impresses me and he seems to be a calm figure which is why goals will come easily for him. He could go far.
We've casually followed Stanley for the last several years after pitching in with a player sponsorship when the club was is in dire straits; Smith's hat-trick is all the more remarkable because it (a) put Stanley in playoff position (b) in the first game after John Coleman's departure to Rochdale. Stuff of legends. Well done.
That doesn't say much for him, if you can't even get a L2 club then you suspect (like Mambo) he's not going to make it with us
Don't personally rate Smith that much but he's still young and can still improve. Newport of top of the Conference and we have seen previous winners of that league such as Crawley, Stevenage and Fleetwood go on to do well in the League so maybe not such a big difference in quality.
Mambo is at a league 2 club so by that logic must be OK : - )

Well he got a L2 loan last season, so seems to be going backwards in his loan moves. I'm surprised we're letting a striker go out though, maybe Leon Clarke is coming back...
Surely a 4week loan to a winning team in the Conference is better than a loan to a struggling L2 side, Can see him playing in the FA Cup for us if we draw a lower league side.

Agree. This may also simply come down to which clubs were available & were deemed suitable. After all would we want an inexperienced striker from say Norwich leading our attack.
A striker in a decent side (for the level) should theoretically get more chances which might in turn make him a more clinical finisher under match conditions.
It's only a month. If he scores a few he might get a league club then for another month.

Not quite the same, Norwich are 1 division above us, Newport are 3 divisions below us! The quality of defender he'll be playing against will be far lower than he'd compete against playing in the U21s.

Perhaps I should have made that clearer. It is unlikely we would want an inexperienced striker from say Norwich leading our attack. In the same way it is unlikely that say Sheffield United would want an inexperienced striker from say us leading their attack. Newport as you correctly state are further down the football pyramid and therefore more likely to want such a player.
Whether it is L2 or Conference, I wouldn't read too much into the difference. With Newport being top of the league they currently have a team that is probably capable of matching a number of L2 sides.
Also, keep in mind that these loan moves often come down to player preferences, wages and of course an actual need for an additional striker in somebody's squad.
First team football and u21 football is completely different level. Giving a youth player a taste of first team action can give him the impetus to push on when he comes back. I'd prefer him on loan playing games and scoring against experienced defenders rather than in an u21 game with players that may not even make a pro living in the game

Exactly, if they are top of the Conference then their level will be L2 anyway, its not like he's gone to Bromley or Welling in the Blue Square.

Well done Smithy, keep it up lad.

Has come back as has a knee injury
I reckon he might make a good sub.
NCFC top of the Conference
Had hoped he would get a L2 club.
