  • If it's true about house break ins then emergency action needs to be taken immediately and that can only mean the army.

I must say I feel sorry for the coppers tonight. Just seen that footage of Woolwich and if I was one of those blokes I would be shatting my pelvis out.
  • Well, now's the time for all our leaders of the last 20 years to stand up and be accountable for all the cuts to police, armed forces and for allowing society to destroyed by their tolorence for these scumbags.

  • This is headline news here in Australia no-one can quite believe that this is happening in London of all places. It makes me sick to see these arseh*les running around with the police virtually powerless. They are too used to getting everything for nothing, not working and getting hand outs with chips on each shoulder thinking they are owed what they get. It is time it came to an end if you are not prepared to work and contribute to society then you get nothing back. In the meantime all looters and rioters should be locked up for a long time. I am sure all mug taxpayers would like to see their taxes put to good use for once by footing the bill to get this scum off the streets. I am really pissed off.

  • Anybody in North London with any up to date info
    thanks

There all over the place in Charlton i live 3 minutes away from charlton train station, its mental what there doing not only are there breaking everything apart there chucking things and people and cars..
  • If this is not nipped in the bud soon, there will soon be an Internet Forum for volunteers for a 'peoples army' to protect areas against the rioters. In view of houses being attacked - I think the volunteers will far outnumber the rioters. Whether its right will be open for debate, but something needs to be done, because normal people are not being protected.
  • Robert, i totally agree with you. Unfortunately, those who make the decisions are too slow to react and are too busy blaming the opposition. It's about time this country got some balls but i wont hold my breath.

I've watched this three times now and, although I can understand the retreat, by the time the video ends there aren't actually many rioters still throwing stuff at them. Most of them have turned backed believing they've won the battle. I'm surprised the police didn't fight back seeing that there were so few rioters left at that end of the street. It seems to me that the police are as good as powerless.
  • That video has made me feel sick to the stomach...what sort of country are we living in? Why do people feel the need to do such things? Bring back Maggie I say!
  • Arrested 236 and charged just 36 and those that have been charged will, no doubt, get a slap on the wrist. Complete and utter joke.

  • Poll tax riots army was brought in, why not now?
  • SheffieldRed - north London is fairly quiet apart from Camden Town and Hackney in the east. Tottenham and Enfield are okay.

Out of the 36, probably no more than 10 will get to court with 8 of those getting off cos of some scum lawyer who saw a loophole. the remainding 2 will get community service. All in all, a good nights work. :-(

I'm not a gung ho sort of bloke, but I feel sick to the pit of my stomach about what people are doing in my city and I want to do something about it.
