BBC News Channel are just showing footage from earlier - there appears to be some sort of blackout as suggested earlier.

Nope Lurker, they've had reporters talking on the phone but no fresh footage on Sky or BBC for ages.

I would like to thank all of you who have kept me informed of what's happening...way before the TV. I've now managed to contact all of my family (Bruvs/sisters and of course my mum) all are safe....but once again CL has been at the forefront of keeping me informed.....thank you...I can sleep a little easier now.

    Good night.

I have lost some respect for Livingstone over his comments. When the streets are finally calm - most of those involved will be wondering why they did it.Many of them will face the courts and jail and none of it will be due to student loans etc. Very sad.
  • No, I said this to missus about 4pm the sky cameras are giving the scum headstarts by letting them know where police are, horses, vans, etc.

Maybe this is a police request for no live helicopter footage???

Non fatal shooting off a bloke in Croydon.
  • All this bollocks about rising tuition fees etc. is ridiculous, there is no hidden message here, with all due respect I don't think 700 youth in Woolwich give a shit about how much University costs, they're doing it for fun, to be a hero amongst their mates, and because they have an attention span of about 10 minutes
    I make you right.

Al Jazeera Eng is superb for coverage. My housemate was interviewed on it earlier as he's housesitting in Peckham
  • Yep, Sky 514.

Unbelievable. Anarchy in the UK. Is anyone, like me, worried about The Valley?

It's going to take an awful lot of time to sift through all the CCTV footage and then start feeling collars....plus, do we have enough prisons?

I think the next party that campaigns to actually crack down (and not just SAY that they are going to) law and order is going to clean up at the polls...people have had enough.

That's good news at least GH - glad you and your wife are safe.

You are not getting even a tenth of a feeling for how bad it is in Croydon. There will be a lot of hyperbole about it throughout the next few weeks, but I can categorically state that West Croydon is an absolute warzone. It's like Beirut out there. A few more coppers about now, but they really can't do anything about it without seriously hurting them (which they should have started doing hours ago)

I'll repeat GH's warning - do NOT go out, even to have a quick look around.

But how many of them are young offenders?  They'd only get a slapped wrist and they know it unfortunately.

of course, but at the end of the day it's a building, I'm more concerned that innocent people may end up losing their homes or maybe even their lives

I cannot believe the total and utter shite that I am hearing from Red Ken. These 'people' are not disaffected youths rioting over their student grant being cut ken they are a symptom of the lawlessness you and your like have allowed to develop.
But he increased police numbers.  How is that encouraging lawlessness?  TBH I don't think party politics has much to offer in this situation.
I wish all the political b*llocks would cease on this forum, now is not the time. It's upsetting enough without idiotic comments from the usual suspects.

From what I can gather on Twitter, it looks like the police have locked Bromley off, a few broken windows but nothing major, also reports that there is scum hanging around in small groups.

Drove through Welling and Bexleyeath with a few mates and no one worth bothering with. Eltham is quite. Group of hoodies in blackheath didnt really want to make eye contact with a group of white lads in a car looking at them.

Time for people to reclaim the streets tomorow

Police seem to be doing a good job here in Bromley. Lots of pockets of scum but not having much affect. Few smashed windows but police have chased groups away.
    Fortress Bromley!
