CHARLTON boss Chris Powell has confirmed he wants to keep Michael Stewart.
The 29-year-old signed last month on a short-term deal after leaving Turkish side Genclerbirligi.
“I’d love to keep Michael but I don’t know if he feels his future is elsewhere,” said Powell.
“He is an all-round midfielder with good passing and is a decent tackler. Michael’s been brilliant - he knows the game and has got that bit of experience.”

Now this is one player I definately want Powell and the board to do all they can to keep him. He is the type of player we need, good on the ball, not frightened to tackle, shows tenacity and may even make a good captian should Dalily leave. I know hes only been on the pitch for a shortwhile, but I have been impressed with the little I saw against Orient and other peoples comments.

Does he think he is too good for us? Thats how Powell puts it across
Put yourself in Stewart's boots .......he'll probably consider that signing short term for Charlton in the Third Division is the lowest level of football he's ever played at.
At 30, he no doubt feels that he's still got a lot to offer, certainly at Championship level.
What Powell needs to do is sell him the ambition of the club, and convince him that he'll be a cornerstone of a team that is going places.
He's been released by the club in Turkey, a decent but not outstanding league, and before that was knocking around at Hibs/Hearts who are both around L1 standard anyway these days - remember where Akpo ended up?
He's 30 years old and on the way down, he's bloody lucky we are giving him a chance as nobody else seems to be that keen on him.
If I were him I would be grabbing anything that CAFC offered him, after Man Utd we will be the biggest club he has played for in his career.

I don't think anyone implied he was, lol
He fell out at the Turkish club because they were behind in paying their players; that's how his contract was cancelled.
Hibs/Hearts just League One standard? Harsh, but it's your opinion, fair enough.
But he has made a very decent impression on the park so far, and appears to be a type of player we have been lacking.
He has shown a composure and quality on the ball, and compliments well the players around him.

Looking good in that shirt today, Jose. Have you been working out?
Well run Waggy, my you can run fast.
Have you lost weight Robbie?
Oh no sorry, must have been the light
Unlucky, Doc. I can see you gave some thought to that 70 yard pass before kicking it. Bradders does look deceptively tall today today, doesn't he? I thought that he'd grown to 9ft 6 when I saw him in the tunnel, so I can see why you thought he'd be able to get his head to it.

Fair play to those who spotted him
