[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]obviously no one has seen anything much, if at all, of this fella amongst us addicks but how much of him has SCP seen and how much of an input into the decision to sign him or anyone else has SCP had
I wondered that. He obviously didn't choose Eccleston as he signed before Powell became manager. BWP was an obvious target being the top scorer in the league and Plymouth desperate for the money.
Well, the chairman did say recently that ALL signings would be chrissy's choice with no interference from the board (or word to that effect). Not saying that he wouldn't pick Jimenez brains for potentials but ultimately, it's his decision which players come in or not.

Bessone played against Leicester last season, along with another 20 matches or so in the league, and probably would've been one of the players they were watching looking forward to the playoffs. He also played against Leicester this season in the League Cup
At Swansea, he played under Sousa, who Powell worked under at Leicester, so there's a link on how to manage him.
Does anyone know why he went off injured? Hope its not serious, because he looked a good player. Being a natural left back, I think he gave us a little more balance and he is very quick as well. He picked out a few good balls to our front men as well.
thought he was very assured.
a few times he was looking for jackson to be hugging the touchline or one of the forwards to be running the channel behind their right back and he had to hold on too long or try to cut inside, but cant complain after only a day or so at the training ground.
pretty good debut I thought. Didn't lump it up in the air, got forward and had a few decent runs into their half......and Fry did well too when he came on top replace bessone. Sign him up!
If the ref had given a penalty against him for his lunge at the end this thread would be a very different place. He had a good game, but we need to see another couple of performances before we can say that Leeds just didn't see the best of him.
Very impressed with Bessone ... look self-assured, good positional play, commanding when needed, and a good team player. Tried to play to feet all the time rather than hoofing the ball anywhere.
Scary amount of ball watching going on from this kid yesterday. Not great beacuase it was leaving all sorts of space for them to exploit and get people running at our centre backs, which is always a bit scary to see. I thought Fry looked a much better defender when he came on.
Bezza looks tidy going forward though, but can we get away with having him and Frank marauding down the wings when Doc and Dailly are so vulnerable on the break, especially if we're going to adopt the 4-3-3 we were playing secoond half?
Exiled, I am with you on this. Bessone needs some positional discipline coached into him to maintain his position and to know when to go charging up the pitch. Also what kind of ball to play when he is doing that. He should avoid losing the ball particularly when he has left a gap behind him. He can try a difficult bit of skill or a speculative pass when there is somebody in a position to back him up.
Bessone does seem to have potential going forward, but he has to remember he is a left back and not a left half. I don't think it is a surprise that Jackson has gone off the boil with Bessone playing, as he must wonder where Bessone is wandering off to. Some work on the training ground is definitely needed here, with Bessone himself, Jackson and the players around him. Lets hope that Chris Powell, as an excellent left back but can coach some positional sense into him and integrate his style of play with team and players around him.
Matt Fry will be a terrific centre back one day. I was very happy that Matt Fry came on against Colchester and really steadied the ship. He lacks a bit of pace for a left back but he is a solid back up. Very pleased that we have Matt Fry in the team. I think that learning the left back role will also help him when he eventually moves to the centre back position.
Bessone's Hamstring seems to be a bit of problem. Lets hope he is not too badly injured or it becomes a problem as we need a specialist left back for the balance of the team.
Not too sure what to think about him so far. I don't think he is a real improvement on Fry. Injuries haven't helped him so we'll see more of him. Still not sure why he was stretchered off if he only strained his hamstring...
[cite]Posted By: UP...THE...ADDICKS[/cite]We played 4-4-2 second half?
When defending (and 4-5-1 at the end) but going forward it often looked like 4-3-3 with Jackson playing more centrally and Eccleston pushing further up.
He is a natural left back, something we have not had for a while (apparently can play left midfield) has good technical ability, looks mobile, (though not match fit) and brings an attacking balance to the left hand side of the team.
Matt Fry (as has been said repeatedly) is a Centre Back who can do (and is doing) a job at left back.
Can we give Bessone a chance (assuming he does not now have a long term injury) to get up to speed. He has not played any meaningful competitive football since September. A little patience please

Nah, sorry, he's poop, and the sooner you realise it the better off you will be, just like Abbott and Francis ;-)
Bezza will get plenty of time from me, but that doesn't change the fact he was ball watching on 3 or 4 occassions in the second half when he should have been tracking his winger who was making a run in behind him.
He looked very comfortable on the ball and should get up and down the wing well when fit, I agree, I just making an observation about him really and I don't really agree with this sudden swell in opinion that suggests Fry has been a weak link all season.
Not overly impressed with Bessone so far. He's actually right-footed (notice which foot he dribbles with and his preference to play a right-footed ball inside rather than the left-foot ball along the touchline) and that's not ideal for a left back. His fitness is also questionable. Don't remember seeing a lot of (any?) left-foot crosses either.
I much prefer Fry there, but let's trust Powell's judgement. He should know.
I'm not sure that he is right footed because he looks comfortable on the ball with either foot .I also noticed the way he cut inside on Saturday , could he have been playing this way under instruction ? On the websites I've checked ( and I know this is sad Football Manager ) they all say he is left footed .
I think in L1 he will be a good player for us . He is quicker than Fry and is better going forward although I have to admit Matty is the better defensive player with our backs to the wall .
Prefer Fry of the two but it is too early to really judge Bessone, needs 4-5 games. He is rusty for sure, but has shown enough imho to suggest he could be an asset.
Think Bessone has looked ok the 2 times I have seen him. Goes forward well and looks to keep the ball on the floor. Seems to be able to use both feet. Defensively he has been caught out of position a couple of times and that is a worry but he has barely played this season so I would expect him to improve steadily over the next 5 games or so. decent loan signing IMO, especially if it means we can move FRY to CB.

Totally agree. Welcome aboard Mr Bessone.
Didnt that jimminez guy do all the recruiting at newcastle? who's to say SCP has a say in the signings at all?
Then again could be wrong and they could both be SCP signings, Who knows?
Management team/coaching staff will identify targets.

Looked composed on the ball, laid the easy ball when he could and was beginning to venture forward in the 2nd half.
Early days but he looks like a decent signing and I think we've got an option to buy at the end of the loan spell.

any news on injury?
also gotta praise matt fry when he came on.
This
Good debut.
A bit harsh, they were throwing themselves all over the place
