Gutted for PP and for the club. Thanks for all your efforts and integrity, Phil, and I hope you find a new job soon. You understood the ethos of Charlton. I fear that the new owners do not.
[cite]Posted By: Ormiston Addick[/cite]So, this is the "New Charlton", eh?
Sacking a proven manager who has done wonders with no money - and is a genuinely decent human being to boot - and replacing him with pond scum like Dennis Wise. Looks good, doesn't it?
Well, I hope all the Parky Haters are happy now, I'll be keeping tabs on how your new man does.
[cite]Posted By: Happy Valley[/cite]Terrible decision. Parky should have been given until the end of the season. He has had so little to work with in terms of resources and we are still fifth. Walsall have also sacked their manager today and they are bottom!
In recent years we have endured Dowie, Reed and Pardew. Then we sack Parkinson - someone who put everything into the job - un-f**king-believable.
I echo the sentiments on this thread that wish him well. He will get another job and probably do well.
proven manager in what respect
should never have been given the job seeing as it was based on results i mean the results were fantastic in that 18 game period wernt they
humiliation to a non league team and his team did their best to repeat it at home to luton
failure to achieve promotion with the 2nd highest wage bill in the league

You need to get a grip on reallity. All managers have successes and failures in their signings, even SAF, who has signed his fair share of duds.
Parky has achieved a lot with very little and we are fifth - hardly a crisis. Slater gave him his full backing a week ago. Since then we have had two away draws against promotion chasing teams and one bad home defeat.
This is not the Charlton way. He should have been given until the end of the season.
If I remember correctly we were ONE POINT away from automatic promotion last season, in fact for a while on the last day of the season we were on for automatic promotion.
We went on to lose in the PO's, courtesy of an appalling defensive mix-up, if taking your team through a season like that with only a handful of defeats and missing out by such a narrow margin does not make you a proven manager then I don't know what does.
This is unbelievable to me, back in July Parkinson had about EIGHT first-team players in the squad, he had to go out and basically beg, borrow and steal just to get a decent squad together in time for the start of the season.
This season we have been patchy, that's absolutely fair comment, but it is only as far back as November 13 that we beat Peterborough 5-1 away from home - has Parkinson become a bad manager in six weeks?
Regardless, all of the knee-jerk Parky haters and those in search of a quick-fix to our problems have now got their way, we have forced a decent man out of the club and we are bringing in that utter, utter chunt Dennis Wise as our new manager.
This whole thing stinks to high heaven, Slater/Jiminez never had any intention of keeping Parkinson, they have been desperate to bring Wise in as their football manager all along - and now they will.
I will be appalled to have Dennis Wise as the manager of this great club that I have loved for so many years, he will make Alan Pardew look like Sir Matt Busby.
Still, the Parky Haters have gotten their way, now we just have to wait and see how things turn out. I certainly look forward to treating the new man as fairly as some of you treated Parkinson.
I am well in grip on reality dont worry about that for the last 2 years i have said parkinson was the wrong choice he would never get us promoted from this league
Who gives a shit about the charlton way thats where it has gone wrong football has moved on we have stayed still and as a result ended up in the 3rd division
I even said if he got us promoted he shouldve been let go because he can not handle the championship
I still feel this is too early I have always believed the end of the season should have been the right time to change if need be , but last night even I felt the performance was woefull and today's news did not surprise me.
Thanks Parky for stabilising our club , we were in freefall and you stopped that . Good luck in the future.
Thank you Parky, you took on a ship sinking at an incredible pace and have managed to keep us in promotion contention despite losing many team members over the summer and very little money to build a squad with. Good luck in all your endeavours, next time choose a team that's on the way up.
I have to agree with NLA, he didn't do well with the resources he had. Yes we are 9 points from top but we are also 9 points from Tranmere in 20th and they have a game in hand, so in reality thats means nothing. The fact is he's sucked the football out of this club. When i first started coming here (no not that long ago but it doesn't make my argument any less valid) Charlton played nice football, passed the ball about and looked for players feet, i know that didn't make them a winning team but it was so much better than keeper to forward and see what scraps you get off him, completely bypass the midfield just get it forward. Before his first full season in charge he fought tooth and nail to keep what was the best midfeild in the division by a mile. Why? He had no idea how to play them, he should have sold a couple of them and bought a huge center forward to ping the ball to. For me he lost it after the Colchester away hammering last season, he saw their route one football as the way forward and the passing game slowly ebbed away from Charlton. I'm not knocking him as a person because i have never heard anyone say a bad word against him as a person but as a football manager he is left wanting. Good luck for the future but i for one am glad your not plying your trade at the Valley anymore. Anyone knocking the owners for letting hm go must be out of touch with reality. Would anyone actually pay for a football club and leave in charge a man that the players wont try for. Yesterday when everyone knew he had a meeting today, they couldn't or wouldn't do it for him. He had no idea what to say at half time and had given up afterthe 3rd with his arms folded on the line. Yes parky good luck for the future but i really cant thank for doing what you have done to this club i have really grown to like a lot.

So post in another flaming thread then!
I'll post on what thread i want
I know you're a Hamster uncle, but I didn't think you were illiterate. This is a "Thank you Parky" thread - if you want to be negative there are plenty of other threads you can use, and insisting on posting it on this one shows an utter lack of class on your part.
Before you start getting to rude do yourself a favour and think before you write. My post was a response to what was being said not to the title of the thread. Now i dont know who died and made you god of this site but your starting to get on my tits.
There are plenty of people backing PP on the "Go Parky Go!" type of threads, so for balance, I do believe it's perfectly fair to answer back to all the PP lovers on this thread and give their side of the story as to why PP shouldn't be thanked!

exactly it is about opinions and no one bar admin has the right to try to silence others
OK, uncle, think back to when Jonjo went to Liverpool - we had threads thanking him for his time here and wishing him well at Liverpool. You wouldn't have appreciated it if people had posted to those threads that Jonjo hadn't lived up to his potential with us and they weren't really going to miss him, would you?
We've had multiple threads bitching at Parky for weeks now. Is it really so much to ask that you leave it out on just ONE thread on the day he goes, out of respect for those who are sorry to see him leave?
why have you only pulled him up then? he is not the only one top have contributed a non happy clappy stance infact his was a hell of a lot more positive than most
People were and did write what they wanted about Jonjo. I feel this aint really about what i wrote but more about me. You see NLA didn't thank parky in fact quite the opposite but you didn't tell him he was illiterate, you didn't tell him he lacked class, so like i have to read what people write about Jonjo you my dear little friend will have to read what i write about Parky.

NLA, I'm not trying to silence him, I'm saying there is a time and a place for that kind of comment, and this thread is not the place. There are plenty of others he could have used: this one, this one, this one, this one, this one or this one - and they're just the ones currently on the front page. To choose to do it here is just mean-spirited.
One where people want to speak appreciatively, and knowing how things historically work will be forwarded onto the person in question. There are dozens of other Parky threads if you want to comment on them. Don't have anything nice to say ?
Then stay off this one, not much to ask really, is it ?
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Ali is right, its a clear 'thank you' thread.

You clearly didn't read it because i did have something nice to say.
I did read it, and it wasn't aimed at you, it was primarily aimed at NLA and others. But then you clearly wanted to get narky to a fair request for little reason.
I've spent the last 2 hours, and all my lunch break dealing with crap related to here all day, all because people want to act, post and argue like idiots . Not one or two, loads. Absolutely bored shitless with it now, wasting time and energy that should be directed elsewhere. Find it incredible how few people either seem to have so little decency when it comes to community etiquette, or so selfish they really just don't give a shit about anything other than themselves.
Everything net wise has a certain life span, looks like we might have had ours, and i'm really not sure i've got the drive to do what is necessary to try and get it back to something i was proud of because at the end of the day, its talking to a brick wall.
Sorry Uncle, not directed at you, just very down as its only really dawned on me just how much time i've wasted over the last five years.
