Nice guy and steadied the ship at a tough time. Think now was the right time for him to go, but he has defeintely laid some foundations that hopefully a new man can build something substantial on.
I wish him all the very best and genuinely hope he finds another club where he can be a proper success again.
I wish Parkie all the best, met him and Breacker twice. It was inevitable that he would go, in o0ne fell swoop the new owners have courted popularity with the vocal fans and shown the club that Murray & Kavanagh are merely figure heads on the board. For two years Parkinson has worked tirelessly with a club wiothout money and in free fall, for long periods the board have let him stew without their support, not even letting him know that he had a job. Now when there is moeny to spend and he is able to reap the benefits of his hard work he is out of a job.
Yes he was cautious and put not losing as a first priority but then so did Curbishley, but Curbishley had the personnel to build the club with.
Good bye Phil I hope you get another job and quickly, unlike Pardew you will always be welcome down the Valley.
May all the Parkie haters who have been on his back keep their mouths shut when the new manager is in place who ever he is.
No doubting his passion & effort and came across as honest. I'm sure he could do a job elsewhere, we just need that bit more to take us to the next level again, a la Poyet.
[quote][cite]Posted By: Bedsaddick[/cite][quote][cite]Posted By: The Wise Addict[/cite]I wish him well as I'm a gentleman, but he was one of the worst managers we've ever had - apart from Dowie.[/quote]
An absolute disgrace, he took us when nobody wanted us, when we were so close to administration. It could have been so easy for us to slide down league 1 like Bradford. But no the bloke stuck with us and took us within a spot kick away of Wembley. Yes last night was a poor performance and yes we haven't played as well as we would have liked recently, but he was the man who was going to take us up. But we've seen it so many times when new owners have come in. They obviously never liked him from when he started. Bad decision. No way are we going up now.
Look all we love our club and football and no-one is disputing what a lovely guy Parkinson was/is and we wish him well as that's the way we do it at Charlton. But, let's not put on rose tinted glasses on this site. We have never been in Div 3 for more than a couple of seasons in past 30 odd years and the standard of football last 2 years has been woeful, esp at home where it matters most. I saw my first Charlton game in 1967 by the way so I've seen a lot a rubbish. I would rather we had a rude grumpy git of a manager with the personality of a Lambert, Ferguson, Warnock or Moyes than 'a awfully nice man' again. I'm sure Parkinson will land on his feet quickly, heard Preston were interested in him at the weekend and Wallsall are looking for a Manager after today.
Would like to thank Parky for his efforts, although probably in the wrong place at the wrong time!
Thanks for last season Phil, one I enjoyed more than the previous four years put together and good luck in your next appointment (apart from if you play us!!)
Thanks Parky, steadied the ship and turned things round and had us doing pretty well overall with a decent squad, a very good job in difficult circumstances - a shame someone else gets the opportunity to kick on now, but that's football.
You're a good man, I think, with a good future in management ahead of you. Thanks for all your efforts with little money, for stabilising the ship and for giving us some scores to smile about!
Top man and a top manager. I'm sure he'll be back in work soon and will enjoy success elsewhere. He deserved far better treatment from the board and from the plethora of ignorants we have who don't understand the budget limits he was operating under. To keep us in promotion contention this season was a remarkable achievement. Sadly we'll never know how far he could have taken us with decent backing.
All the best Phil , it may have not ended rightly but i think considering the restraints you were faced with you did a good job , at the start of this season i didn't think we would be in the top 6 at xmas , given the huge turnover of players we had in the Summer , i'm sure you'll find another job easily .. if you want to.
Ps thanks for showing respect & dignity towards the club despite the amount of rubbish thrown at you.
Good luck Kins a true legend. I hope that you get the breaks that some of the scum like Marcus Bent etc get and its not long before you get another job in football.
As for Parky i hope he finds something--im sure it will be tough. He wont be thought of in the same way as the idiot Dowie or the scum bag Pardew, but thats isnt much of a legacy.
good luck parky and i hope you get a good board next time. i know there isn't going to be a 'phil parkinson stand' but your work is appreciated and i think on balance you did well with limited resources. i for one would clap you on your return with whoever.
Yes i'm gutted Kinsella is going , but i understand why , new broom and all that , i wish our first team showed as much desire to play football as he did , we wouldn't be in this division if they did.
After keeping us near the top on a near zero budget you should have deserved to have the January transfer money and all our support for at least this season.
Still your Charlton experience will definitely help you in the future.Good luck and thanks for bringing muchneeded stability to our beloved club.

Well said GH.
It is easy to forget that Parky is not the only victim here.
Thanks Kins for all you've done for our club as player and coach. We wouldn't be in this godforsaken league if more of our players had the attitude of the likes of you.
All the best, bit gutted to be honest. Worked wonders with limited resources and bought well. It's just those weird dips in effort by the team that have let you down over the last season and a half.
Fear he will come back to haunt us, will be a great manager.
Yeh tried hard at a tough job in difficult circumstances, don't bear him any grudges and think our fans booing him so frequently when they shouldve been getting behind him was out of order.
Having said that, he just wasn't good enough sadly and the financial constraints etc are not an excuse for the level of performance we have produced in his tenure, but I will certainly start to miss him if that tosser Wise comes in instead!
Good luck to him in the future, I'm sure he'll be back to turn us over at the Valley soon enough.
Sacking a proven manager who has done wonders with no money - and is a genuinely decent human being to boot - and replacing him with pond scum like Dennis Wise. Looks good, doesn't it?
Well, I hope all the Parky Haters are happy now, I'll be keeping tabs on how your new man does.
Terrible decision. Parky should have been given until the end of the season. He has had so little to work with in terms of resources and we are still fifth. Walsall have also sacked their manager today and they are bottom!
In recent years we have endured Dowie, Reed and Pardew. Then we sack Parkinson - someone who put everything into the job - un-f**king-believable.
I echo the sentiments on this thread that wish him well. He will get another job and probably do well.

Good Luck.....

Thanks parky for nothing other than being a nice egg, shite manager but hey he was a good guy
