  • Nothing to read into wise at the moment.. Althought they did ask Wise would he go back into management and he said the exact SAME sentence he used in football focus "I am confortamble at the moment" (something else lined up maybe??)" Now i know a couple of Charlton fans have tweeted Kris Kamara and Ben Shephered and asked them to asl "if Wise was in involved in Charltons takeover" Now if he wasnt then they would ask it and then Wise would deny it. However if they dont event ask the questions then maybe, then maybe he is involved (or his advisors have advised due to legal reasons that they cant ask him those questions". Watching football focus yesterday you would normally ask him "oh dennis so what have you been up to latetly?" (in general) and there would be a normal response would be "oh iu have been to see a few games.. I watched Charlton V Yeovill latetly". I find it strange that this question wasnt asked to ho him.. more of a direct question "would you go back into management?" (and the way he is coming across he talks more about how a football club is run and you cant run it as a loss etc etc.. leans further to me of someone as a go between. I dont buy this rubbish as "I am confortable at the moment".
  • On Christmas Eve we will have new owners. They will be US/Arabic/Far East/Russian or Local businessmen. We will either be transformed into a very, very rich club or we'll just be able to continue to pay our bills and keep running on a sound financial footing. We'll have ambitions to be a top Championship team with a decent shot at promotion to the Prem now and again.

At least we can be confident that the new investors are not publicity tarts - otherwise they'd already want the news out everywhere. And we can be sure that they're people who can keep their mouths shut as the absence of real rumours with any kind of substance is quite incredible. I think all of that bodes well for the future whatever it may turn out to be.
  • I totally agree with you martomoto.. at least we can look at at think they are not publicity seeking tarts. It gives me hope "we paid Dowie out of court last week" (one hurdle out of the way I read it that they know our debts. know our assets potential etc etc". Parky has talked us as being "the platform is set for us to being a top Championxhip club". If you ask any Charlton fan including me "if you looked at Charlton in terms of finance. fan base etc where do you think Charlton stand in football as a club standin?" we will all say Charlton is a top 6-10 Championship level club with an occasional flirt with a cup run"
  • Occasional flirt with a cup run.....ermmmmmm

    nah

Unless I heard wrong I thought that Wise was asked this morning whether he is looking to manage a Premiership Club OR maybe a big club lower down to which he replied that no Premiership Team would be interested in him and that he's never been afraid of managing lower down the League and used his time at Swindon as an example. He then said that he was comfortable and that he had three kids to look after but took offence when called a "house husband", saying "he's involved in other things".

As Rudders says one should take the "comfortable" bit with a pinch of salt.
  • Hot tip---O2 connection.

  • yep you are right on Addick Addict..... we are gulty of taking information and ming 2 + 2 plus 5.

The confortable interpretation was that the facts as they are that "wise tried to nuy Charlton a year aog.. like him or not he has been aroundh the Valley a lot in that time and is well documentated". (best is to go with Charlton fans who have seen him.If he was at Charlton then why??" and as you saiy Addick Addict" I pcked up on that as well "NO premier league club would touch him.. Am i wrong Addick he didn't say "about managing lower league sides".. he gave the impression (about invoilved in lower league sides with that premier lague status".

Howefer Starinnaddick has posyted something that a very good mate had texted me in the last 5 mins which makes VERY VERY good business sense !!!

As I texted my mate Phillip Anshwitz owner of the O2,... Say (hypothetically) you buy Charlton for say £20 milliiom) you add a football clun to your profile, down the road and you can use the Vallley as a concert/sports venue.... (yes i know sticky point with the council). but a cash strapped council hat needs money...

but as i texted my mate "arnt they involved in getting spurs to the olympic stadium?"
  • how hot?
  • Already a Facebook group on Anschutz taking over the club, but it's a "petition" from over two years ago.
  • Also this from 2005 on a football economy website. I don't remember any takeover rumours at the time.
  • AEG are building a stadium in Los Angeles with the view to moving a NFL franchise there at the moment from what I understand of the sport so I doubt they'd be involved in taking us over right now.
  • As I posted under the +++++Charlton accept Takeover offer+++++ thread they (AEG Anschutz) already own three football clubs (2 US and one in Sweden) plus of course have the O2. They also have the 'Soccer Dome' (formerly the David Beckham Academy). We must be going cheap at the moment and we're right on the doorstep. There must be opportunities for them - maybe we'd become an indoor club paying at the O2 or The Valley could become a multi-use arena for sports and concerts. If they can't get permission to do that then they could build a new multi-event outdoor stadium on the peninsula with us as a sitting tenant.

Building a stadium in Los Angelese doesn't mean that they couldn't also take on other projects in Europe. And I don't honestly think they'll get anywhere with the Spurs Olympic Stadium bid. I just can't see them accepting the removal of the running track as the athletics legacy was paramount.

AEG would fit the bill and in fact are the only ones that I can think of who would seem to have vaild reason to look at us. But again we're all just speculating. There's no real evidence that I've seen or heard.
  • I can see why Phil Anschutz would be interested in buying Charlton, but why would he use Peter Varney to front the bid, and why would he be interested when he's negotiating with Spurs to take over the Olympic Stadium?

The latest idea is to rip up the running tack/athletics facilities and in order to fulfill the promise of a legacy to London they are looking to renovate the old Crystal Palace stadium. With all that why buy a club that's in L1? It just doesn't seem his style or his MO.

    AEG ??????
They're involved in the ENTERTAINMENT game aren't they?

Bloody have they're work cut out with us!
  • I still wouldn't rule out P Diddy ;-)
  • we dont know.... what we do know is that this takeover will happen by dec 24th

  • If AEG were involved surely they would have let us train at the Beckham academy during the snow rather than Millwall?
  • We don't even "know" that the deal will be going through on that date. Just because they were looking to tie the deal up by 24/12 doesn't automatically mean that's the cut off date and it's all over if nothing gets announced. Just imagine the near suicides on here if it didn't go through by that date - doesn't bear thinking about.

Personally, I just hope we don't get Jordan turning up at a press conference on 24/12 telling everyone how he has "bought" the club in the same way that he "bought" Selhurst Park off Noades without him knowing, apparently. That could well introduce a new "breaking point" for me - but then that would be what he'd want. Nightmare scenario.

  • As it gets closer to the 24th I get more concerned because I understood the 24th was the latest date by which the deal was expected to be completed not the date of completion. There must have been some stumbling blocks- possibly the uncertainty over Dowie compensation which was settled was one of them. If that was the case the fact that it was settled would suggest the deal is much more likely than not but I guessing it can't be smooth sailing or we probably would have it sorted by now. Wouldn't be suprised if message on 24th is that it will take a bit longer unless that is the deadline set by the potential buyers- after which they walk away!

Not much we can do but wait and see and hope!
  • You say that but it was always unlikely to be announced as completed on a weekend. Even more so with the weather. The club rarely announce any big news on the weekend.
  • I think that it is still in the balance or it wouldve been done by now
  • nothing like optimism guys
