My two memories of Brendan O'connell are him scoring a lovely solo goal at home to Birmingham I think straight from kick off, and also scoring his other goal wearing the Oldham or somebody away kit cos we'd forgotten ours
[quote][cite]Posted By: CafcAndy[/cite]Don't see how people can complain about he way they are being sold. If you go to away games across the country, then you should have 1st dibs on away games. Simple.
why ? what if you not a season ticket holder ? where is the help you are giving the club ? the club dont receive any financial benefit from you going away, a lot of season ticket holders pay for there ticket before the previous season has even bloody finished.
I get the first dibs on season ticket holders who go away, but non season ticket holders regardless of how many away games they have been too shouldn't be given pririty imho
I suggest ST holders try and get down the ticket office early Wednesday, going on this morning you could have an even longer phone call.[/quote]
4 tickets for me. Only on the phone for ten minutes and got through to a lady who was very helpful and polite even though she said they were very, very busy
I like the way the club does it, the loyal supporters who go all across the land deserve to be first in there, regardless if the club do not receive financial benefit from them or not.
But what if you were a loyal supporter last season or any other, but due to finances can't be this season?
I went to most aways last year and all homes, but can't do many this year. Suppose it's just luck whether you get a big cup game in that particular season!

agree i went loads last season but due to work none yet, although I paid for a season ticket 2 months before the season ended
speaking as someone who goes to a lot of away games and qualifies for first dibs for Spurs I will say that if someone goes to all the away games but very few home games why should that entitle them to a ticket above a season ticket holder who has maybe not been to an away game yet? Like it or not going to an away games doesn't benefit Charlton at all financially whereas someone who buys a season ticket is basically helping keep the Club going. I think the system in place is fair to all in that it tries to reward those that travel away regularly whilst at the same time being mindful of it's loyal season ticket holders.

Just something you have to take on the chin I suppose.
This season I've had to cut back a bit personally. I was into double figures of away games this time last season and ended up around 20, yet this season - last night was my fourth. If they had come out and said "you need six tickets to get first priority" what can you do? Shrug your shoulders I suppose! As you say it's just luck!
[cite]Posted By: CafcAndy[/cite]To say normal season ticket holders who can't get to away games/can't be bothered, should get first dibs is ludicrous! I've been to nearly every away match this year and i would be devasted if i had to fight with 8 thousand people over the phone who come out for the big away games.
I don't think anyone is saying just season ticket holders should get the same priority, however, season ticket holders who've been to away games should be in a bracket higher than those who have simply just been to away games.
As a perfect example, as NSS points out, I've made it to the valley once this season, with my next home game being Southampton at home, however as I've been to a few away games I can get a ticket. Even I think it's a crazy system.
People can come up with as many imaginative points systems as they like, but it won't change the fact that the club cannot implement such a system because the computer system can't handle it.
Large makes the point that the small number of people who are not STs but travel away regularly shouldn't be in the top priority. I agree that point is debatable, but it's a tiny number of such people who are eligible to purchase. In practice, we won't eliminate non-STs unless we track every person who attends an away match and as experience has shown that is never going to happen; neither is it a sensible thing to put resources into doing while almost every match ends up on general sale.
What annoys me are people like my mate who has not been to see a Charlton game since we were relegated from the prem and he has emailed me to say he has got a ticket. Its a shame that loyal fans will miss out. I class any season ticket holder that after last year signed up for another season as a loyal fan. I lost out on train ticket money last weekend and have to get a refund on my Rochdale ticket...that could have qualified me for today. However I have to wait to the next round. It is what it is at the end of the day.
I doubt we will get a result there and its just about the day out. I just hope that true supporters get tickets and not people from the prem years who don't go anymore.

ANY CHARLTON FAN WHO HAD A SEASON TICKET AND HAD TO ENDURE THE BRENDAN O'CONNELL STAY AT THE VALLEY
just think what a midfield partnership that would have been!!
Would think Wednesday.
cheers
I'd have thought 1 per person to begin with
