''a multi millionaire who is football mad and won't put too much of his own money into the Club he loves...''
If it is who I think you mean, Addickted, I know him well. You are correct he doesn't put much money into Wolves. But he tells me that he runs the line for the kids team in his Worcestershire village every Sunday morning.
Total respect to the man. One of the least-spoilt and down-to-earth people in his exalted position I have ever met. How he went through being the golden god of cock-rock and came out on the other side so decent and humane is a minor miracle!
In my opinion we can forget the AEG, Zabeel or any other big investor talk, if they were well known like those groups are, then they wouldn't need PV to represent them because their reputations go before them.
My guess is that it is a group of about 5 'fans' who have grouped together to provide funds for the future. I doubt that we will be throwing money willy nilly on transfers. Given his close links in the past with PV, I also wouldn't be surprised if Murray was a part of this consortium...
[cite]Posted By: Crusty54[/cite]Their financial people have been given 4 weeks (they started on 27/11/10) to go through the books and prove the value of the assets and the income that is likely.
Where have you got that date from? It's not on the OS or BBC reports. Just wondering

It's a sensible take on things but in the current climate why would a small to medium sized bussinessman want to risk so much when things are so uncertain and I don't just mean in football terms. Hard to understand but of all the suggestions I have seen I think it's the most likely.

Possible - but wasn't the old board who Murray bought out composed of "'fans' who have grouped together to provide funds" and the buyout was (partly) to make decision making easier, so why go back to a similar situation so soon? And isn't it more likely that only someone "well known" would want their identities kept secret until the deal is complete?

To spread the financial burden which I think is widely agreed Mr. Murray couldn't bear on his own for too much longer. Yes it would be going back to a group of investors but I think Baton was only set up to streamline the club for further sustainable investment.
Can't see why a small group of business would want to keep it a secret though? Can't help but think this is higher profile than alot of people are supposing. Zabeel pull-out was blatently down to the muppets we have of a media - got a feeling that this is someone big (not Zabeel) that doesn't want a media frenzie til it's done, dusted, and out in the open... I'm probably wrong though :L
allez les addoicks... I make you right so my theory on zabeel etc is prob way of the mark...... dan roan mentioned there were about 2/3 bids and reading thorugh this:-
As much as i hate the BBC Dan Roan has constantly said "for good reasons I am unable to say anything but be patient Charlton supporters.
According to the facts as we know it:-
1) Seb Sainsbury tried to buy the club - we turned it down as he couldn't get the money. 2) Dennis Wise's offer didnt go through/pulled out. 3) According to the link above (no offer was made at the time).
Former Leeds United and Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale has denied recent press speculation he is involved in a rival US bid for the Addicks. That bid is being advised by Bradley Rangell, the managing director of Citibank's sports finance unit. Rangell, who has been involved in a number of high-profile takeovers in American sport, has previously made attempts to buy Cardiff City and Hull City.
So when all s done and dusted I am going with this US Bid as potential new owners. No-one knows anything about them from start to finish. They have kept their identity secret. Would this unamed bid be AEG? or Anscwitzz??
It would make sense... multi million pound company.... O2 on our doorstep. They could possibly use the venue for other events such as concerts etc. (although that won't go down with the council).

Yep, we lost the WC because of the media and speculation in the SLP, a widely read newspaper in the Middle East caused the Zabeel deal to be cancelled.
I got the impression that the Zabeel deal fell through when a senior family member put whichever junior back in his place and told him to go and buy a string of racehorses instead rather than waste his money on a football club.
its either gunna be... wake up christmas day with a present wrapped up in the shape of a bicycle OR wake up christmas morning with a clementine and some brasil nuts on top of the fire place!?

No idea if you are being serious, but in his LA Galaxy contract he's supposed to have the option to start up a MLS franchise.
Really made my week meeting him, such a down to earth bloke.
Oh, and can you sign my copy of The Rough Guide To The Blues? ;-)

There you go. Halfway through the article.

How so apparently...?
