Charlton and other team 11's

edited November 2010 in General Charlton
I've done this periodically over the years ( I know I am a complete Anorak ) but I sometimes pick CAFC teams who played for another club. Every season the teams can improve ( see Brighton ). Personally I think the West Ham team is best.

Start with West Ham , Palace , Millwall , Chelsea and Brighton . For all of these you could have complete seven sub benches also I can post others . Please change the teams as you wish.

  • It'd be a good match between the Chelsea and West ham teams assuming all players were at their career peaks, rather than the state they were in aty CAFC (I'm thinking JFH in particular). You'd need to clone Parker though!

Wouldn't argue with those teams too much. Only ones I can't think of:

Paul Williams must have had a chance in the Palace team.
Marvin Hinton was almost a world cup squad player in 1966.
Micky Bennett in the Millwall team

  •

I accept the comments above about Hinton and Brown making the Chelsea and Reading teams.

    A stab at Exeter

Again I may have missed someone obvious . I've tried to keep players in position but Simon Webster and Leighton Phillips could play at Full Back to allow me to play Giles and Taylor together at Centre Back.

Ben Hamer/ Jeff Wood ,Simon Webster ,Leighton Phillips  , Maurice Setters , Jimmy Giles , Matt Taylor , Carl Harris ,Stuart Fleetwood , Jim Ryan , Brendon O'Connell ,Mark Robson

  • Carnaby at Reading? ANd what about the midfielder we got from Millwall back in mid 70s. Micky someone......hard man and bit of a nutcase off the pitch.

  • You could have David Mehmet in the Millwall team.

  • Weegie I try to use players who appeared in both first teams , it does not always work .

Keeping it topical Robbie's debut means I can complete a Toon / Charlton side without using Tony Caig in goal who only played a half game for us and was an unused sub for them .

The defence in this side is not strong and I have played Davies who was normally a winger at Right Back where he sometimes appeared for the Toon .

Robbie Elliot , Alan Davies , David Young , Scott Parker , Kevin Scott, Amdy Faye , Rob(ert) Lee ,Gavin Peacock , Andy Hunt , Lee Bowyer , John Barnes

  • McLaughlin made big Mig look like Beckenbaur. How such a limited player survived so long at the top level is beyond me.
