Interesting that the 'new site' news story on the new site refers to www.cafc.co.uk, yet the URL for the new site has the 'tv' suffix (which seems to be causing 'office network' users access problems). Was this meant to happen - the 'tv' bit, or has it crept in by 'accident' ?
Having read the article on it though it says that stats will be kept up to date, something I felt lacked off the old site. Hopefully it will be updated news wise more than the old site, it's just the ads that makes it worse.
[cite]Posted By: Bedsaddick[/cite]I hate it but it's no surprise as we were told it was coming. The question is - If we do get promoted to the Championship ( or above) or we get some nice new super wealthy owners will we go back to having a web site that has some sort of soul or a feel of independace about it ?
Club had to sign a long contract so unless they pay a penalty (if such a clause exists) then we're stuck with this for a while.
Better news is that FLI are aware that the sites all look crap and want to be able to offer newer and different formats but, as I understand it, they themselves are tied in to contracts with suppliers.
At least all the hits today will be ticking up some dosh for the Club as the advertising revenue is split according to use. No idea how exactly but at least by looking at the site now you can say you are helping the Club.

I think all the FLi sites have "tv" in them so I don't think it's a mistake.

I imagine it's because FLi already owned www.cafctv.co.uk so it's easier to maintain the site on the address they already owned. www.cafc.co.uk just redirects to that now....
[cite]Posted By: leftbehind[/cite]you are all moaning but we knew it was coming and knew more or less what the layout would be as i said on another thread.
terrible. can't access it on my phone now, as it takes too much time/memory, the ads seem immune to my adblocker, its dull, its cluttered, it's identical to everyone else, and its clearly not wanted by anyone. I reckon i could have designed a new website for them, and then leave extra areas for ads to be included, and it would have been better than this tosh, and i dont have anything above a gcse in ict!

problem would be getting ads for the one isolated website.
Airman will be able to elaborate but from my understanding; FLi works from being able to sell advertising across all of their sites, which is why you'll see all the same adverts on everyone of their sites. In effect, each club is treated as a part of the network, and the advertiser pays for the number of clicks on that network, with each club obviously receiving the proportion of that fee that their page views represent.
Airman, does the club receive money for each follow through link, or is it just for the site (advert) views of the OS pages?

Not a great website ... no-one expected it to be ... but to be honest I think they have done a good job in the circumstances ... let's hope it keeps our comms team in work.
But as others have said ... where will the 'Your Views' regulars go?
Personally do not mind it, have been using this FL Websites for a while when looking at the ground guides/directions etc and they are fairly simple and easy to use.
The old one was outdated and as said above, what did people expect? we are not in the Prem anymore so cannot expect the best/flashiest website.
Always felt a bit smug when I was looking at other clubs sites that ours just felt like better quality. However it's only a website, and a least we'll save some money off the national deficit when you lot do some bloody work for a change....

They will earn a fortune if Plaaayer see that link to the Freemans catalogue ; )
Its may have been said, but i'm not sure amongst the 100 odd moans, that every time you go on the new website the club will earn from it. So, even if you dont like it , go on there then come straight off whenever you can and you will be helpng the club.

(I'm clutching at straws to be positive here)
But you are right apart from the consulting the fans bit typical Charlton keeping us in the dark.

Your not Proper Charlton unless your moaning.
Jesus Should change this forum to Charlton Moan
Imagine the moans on here it you did!
Charlton Moan... I like that, very catchy.

Kettle, pot, black me thinks : - )

if you don't like it, don't use it!
People will soon get used to it. You go to the Official Sites to get specific information, and that won't change. .[/quote]
Get used to it? Didn't someone once say that about playing at Selhurst Park?
They will earn a fortune if Plaaayer see that link to the Freemans catalogue ; )
Ah,but wouldn't you like a bit more money in the coffers of your club more
