  • Why would there be lots interested?

    Massively fickle and unrealistic fans
    Useless overweight goalie
    Weak midfield
    Sloth paced strikers

    Not to mention NO MONEY

    Hmm - really appealing proposition!
  • [cite]Posted By: AllLeftFoot[/cite]Very poor.

Wasn't in favour of him being appointed in the first place, but actually thinks he's not done that bad a job in the (financial) circumstances.

But those financial circumstances were partly his fault in A) Failing to keep us up and
B)Failing to get us promoted last season.
  • Yep damien matthew.

Scunthorpe employed their physio why not the youth team mgr

Some people thrive on such challenges

Well they'd probably go for us over smaller League One teams who also don't have any money and there aren't many teams looking for a manager at the moment. We've got more potential to build on than a lot of similar placed teams as well.
  • Everything I hear about Matthew is good. An option indeed

Absolute rubbish. Who on here is fickle then? And who who pay their money to watch the shit we have served up the past few seasons are fickle?

Show me what supporters of any club who were pushing for europe in the last few years who would be satisfied with being hammered at home by feckin brighton, drawing with the likes of Dagenham and Redbridge and losing to Brentford and now find relegation to the 4th division a not so unrealistic prospect.

Apart from the plastics that were there for the premiership i dont think any charlton supporter could be labelled as fickle.
  • He knows the players we have at the club. He is a great coach his football is excellent to watch should have got the job at the start of the season

I didn't say it was all sweetness & light, but a few words might put my thoughts across slightly better - recession, unemployment, & if it isn't just about getting back into a management job for the money, a hunger & professional pride to turn a struggling club/fallen giant around.
  • Nice guy and all that, but not cut out for this job. We went down with a whimper, fannied around last season And squandered a good start, this season has been one mediocre performance after another. Times up I am afraid.

Looking back it was a big mistake to employ him after the inept caretaker period - you expect a new manager to have at least some impact, Parky had absolutely none.

A lot better managers have been sacked for doing better than PP.

  • out played, out fought, out coached. that's how you play football parky. in the name of god go now.
  • He knows the players we have at the club. He is a great coach his football is excellent to watch should have got the job at the start of the season
  • Surely enough is enough. It seems we have not played well for 90 minutes once this season. It's not a new team any more, they just seem devoid of ideas.

I'm sure this thread will have nearly as many posts as the Countdown Bird thread by tomorrow morning so I'm off to bed now.
  • Charlton as a club and team are still going backwards. I cannot see any tunnel let alone a light.
  • martin allen theres only one martin allen
  • If we cant afford to sack put him in charge of the under 12 team that way we dont have to pay him out just let his contract run and and get someone better in
  • The next decision Murray/Parkinson makes is a massive one in my opinion.

cahonies time sack him or back him

i would say today parkies lost the fans his only friend my be muzza
  • I have (in the most) supported him but after that I don't think anyone can. My only hope now is he has the class to walk away, for whatever reason it just isn't working. I think as a club we need a fresh approach, new ideas, new energy and someone the fans will get behind.
  • no kinsella please clean sweep if it does happen

    yep
  • Getting rid of a manager is the easy bit.
Finding a good manager is is a bit of a tough one, they are working else where.
Also are the player we got good enough? If they are not the next manager will will do just as wel as Parky.
  • Should never have got the job in the first place, should have gone when we went down, should have gone when we did not go stright back up, should def go now...his two big signings..>Doherty who he freely admits was his number 1 target is awful, and Benson who we spent so much on is yet to prove he was really worth the cash...what would todays game have been like if the two managers swapped clubs...

We will not go up with Parky and actually run a risk of relegation so I really think it is a no risk decision. Not Breaker and not Kinsella to take over though please.
  • Haven't called for Parkinson to go once this season, but my patience has gone. I've had enough.

That today, was reminiscent of that dark day when Uncle Les led us into battle with the mighty Wycombe.

We were an utter shambles today. We went from reasonably comfortable for 15mins to chaos.

I don't profess to be a tactical genius but from my seat, it was clear our formation was wrong. We couldn't cope with Elliot Bennett dropping into space. Time and time again we were caught out by a diagonal pass. We did nothing tactically to change and try and nulify them. The management stood and watched as we imploded. The performance on the pitch was farcical and on the bench worse.

I've lost count of the times in the last season and a half when I have looked at teamsheets and we have had the better players on paper. Tonight I still believe potentially we have the better players than brighton. Those players have time and time again been beaten or have struggled against lesser teams. The reason has to be the coaching staff and management.

I don't believe that Richard Murray is a stupid man, but if he can't see that a broom is required and new faces at all levels in the dugout are required then where do we go from here?.

Doherty was a class act for Norwich last season. He is currently costing us a goal a game. Fortune is a better player than this level but today looked like an untried park player. Racon can play, he has done it at a higher level but contiues to look lost. Semedo is a good player. This season he has been poor and hasn't influenced games. Jackson is not a left back, yet we leave a left sided defender on the bench whilst he struggles on. I could go on, but you get the picture.

Parky may well have dug his own grave with players he has spent money on. Benson looks like a park player. He was utterly appalling today. Francis got skinned by Myles Weston at Brentford by diving in, the time he was on today, he did the same thing and was torn to shreds by Lua Lua (thank god he didn't start)

Are we actually going to scout teams? Brighton scored their first from a well worked setplay. We seemed to have no idea what they were going to do. 10mins later they did it again and we again did nothing to counter it. Lua Lua's goal was identical to the one he scored against Bournemouth.

I've no doubt Parky is a good bloke and if the story about the Borrowdale loan is true then he gets big respect. But he cut a forlorn figure today. I don't think he'll walk, perhaps he should do us all a favour......

I understand why he started with the team he did today, trying to keep some momentum going from the second half at Plymouth. But after the first goal went in, we needed a change. We needed to try and stop Brighton playing. We did nothing. Says it all.
  • well we cant get rid of a squad of 22 but we can get rid of parkinson

someone somewhere needs to look to protect their investment

wake up muzza me old mucca that man is you
  • Cant argue with that keston.

However they are out there and if we had 250k for benson im sure we can get one.

Parkinson has brought in these players. They are his players that he chose on the whole and it is his team. He doesnt seem to be able to get them to be a winning team (4 wins in 12) so perhaps someone else can.

Worryingly close to the bottom six and whilst i hope we wouldnt get relegated their seem to be shades of pardews championship season about this one.
  • I believe Parky still thinks he can get things right so therefore won't walk. Murray doesn't have the money to bring in anyone else so we can expect Parkinson to remain for at least until the end of the season. It's not going to be a happy Valley for a while I rekon.
  • some on here fancied uncle les chances ,this seems the same thing but lower league,if they sack him and put kinsella in i might attack myself. who would take this poisioned chalice?
  • I would be very surprissed to see Murray let him go, ( at present) but then football is a funny business ( although I am not laughing)

Feel that Parky has at least until the end of November then it becomes well beyond the point of no return.

When I proposed Chris Powell a couple of seasons ago I was in a minority, still think he could do a decent job at Charlton.

Parky is on a yellow card, the red may follow shortly, is the way I read it........

Said exactly the same when the second goal went in.

Worryingly similar to that season in terms of performance. We look rudderless and the management seem to have no idea how to change it.
