Martin Allen wouldn't be a bad shout - just what we need in the short term, longer than that and I'm not so sure.
Judging by his track record it really would only be for the short term!
Didn't Eddie Howe turn down Southampton? i doubt we could afford him.
Realistically we won't be paying compensation to any club so we're looking for an out of work manager. I'd go with Steve Tilson. Did a quality job at Southend until their financial problems set in and he was forced to sell Barnard. In his 5 years there before last season his record was this:
Season 1 - promotion to league one Season 2 - promotion to the championship Season 3 - relegation Season 4 - league one play offs Season 5 - 8th in league one
Some sensible suggestions on here, and some daft ones. FWIW, the only two I would consider are possibles are Lennie and Eddie Howe. The others would either want too much in the way of salary, have no chance of managing in division three, not want to manage with no money to spend on players, or are just shit managers. Not sure Lennie wants to manage a team again, and Eddie Howe is probably content at Bournemouth until a big club comes in for him.
[cite]Posted By: ValleyFred[/cite]Also just been thinking about it and Jon Still (Dag and Red), Eddie Howe (Bournemouth) and Paul Tisdale (Exeter) would all be good if we could afford them.
Not having a pop here but Jesus this really does highlight how far we have fallen and how much shit we are in.
its all supposition really, how do any of you know what can and cant be afforded and who might or might not come in.....before we all get carried away, the decision has to be made and in the end, only one person will make that....yes we can bring some form of pressure to bear....the declining gates have surely got to be a worry havent they? I know they worry me, but we arent renowned for acting swiftly and we have a habit of making the same mistakes over and over......lets hope some form of sense and sanity prevails, and soon, this just cant go on.
Interesting thread... doesn't seem to be much consensus, and you have to wonder how much backing any of these guys would get if they did replace Parkinson. Would there be exactly the same gripes after the first cack home performance?
For my two cents worth, if Parky did leave/get fired I'd go for either Sir Lennie or Sir Chris. Obviously if either made a hash of it, it'd be pretty heartbreaking for all concerned, but either would at least get the instant goodwill / loyalty of our fans and I reckon that would count for a lot.
Floyd can you tell me what allegedy Martin Allen did at cheltenham cos you clearly have something against him due to your continual shouting down of him......
We're not gonna get anyone with an unblemished track record and beggars can't be chosers
I'm not a Parky Supporter, or a Parky Outer - I'm a Charlton supporter. That being said, the performances so far have shown nothing that we have what it takes to go on a Millwall/Norwich run. Nor do any other teams in the division.
Anyway, back on topic I really think we could turn into what Boro are doing. Getting rid of Southgate while in a decent position in the league (although not unexpectedly setting it alight as their fans or the media though) and replacing him with Strachan. Looked what happened.
Regardless, unless we find ourselves in real crap and in a REAL relegation scrap he is here to stay until the end of the season.

Yes there would be ... instant success of the crowd will start attacking... way of the world today...
We are 8th yet still above the other "favourites" such as Huddersfield, Southampton and Sheff Weds are below us. If Huddersfield sacked Lee Clark would we be saying that was ridiculous for example? They've spent far much more dough than us in the past two years. Or if Swindon sacked Danny Wilson would we be saying that was a bit too reactionary?
I dunno. It's just a crap quality all around in this league. Does that mean we have to accept it? Of course not. I honestly don't know what the best option is. I generally err on the side of caution and see how things pan out but if I take my CAFC glasses off and look at the whole league, all of the performances (did you see Sheff Weds at Brentford? They were as bad as us) and the results I don't think we are in much of a rut (immediate, not over 5 years) as some may think.
Only time will tell unfortunately and I'm glad I'm not getting paid (or paying in RM's case) to make the decision.
In my opinion it is too early to be thinking aobut sacking Parky but I feel if we don't beat MK Dons, Plymouth or Brighton then it is time to start looking around. I'm not so worried about the league position it's the way we are playing that worries me.

Spot on. The season is not lost yet. However we do look absolutely awful and as you say that is a big worry.
Morts I posted a link to an article (there are many more on the subject out there too) earlier in this thread.
No axe to grind at all. Just analysing the man's career, as I did with Pards and Parky before they joined us. Think he is the most mentioned possible replacement on this thread, so thought I would add some facts.
FWIW I think we would be insane to replace Parky till the end of the season.
Mind you I have a suspicion that we will still make the play offs again, so I am not sure if my opinions probably count for naught!
This leaque is poor and yes the favourites may be below us, but when those favourites do play their football they give teams a damn good hiding, hence our result at Huddersfield! I would pray for a 2-0 victory but just can't see that happening. The team is utterly disjointed.

Floyd although you have adde4d some facts about his career but you also said he has no scouting experience. Do you know what he's doing for qpr at the moment? Partime scouting, so i think that clears up that part of his cv
i still think parky has atleast 4 more games then if it doesnt look any better we will start to review our circumstances.
i am pretty sure that like all clubs we have set ourselves targets with regards to points tallies.
i am sure RM has privately set parky a points target, everybody has to know their targets at the begining of the working year i see football as no different

Even if he went tomorrow that doesn't mean you can slag him off you know - that other thread can always be resurrected in an instant. ;o)

nice neat football with a no sh*t attitude to players
He could help us out while he waits for the Liverpool job.

We are 8th in the 3rd division! Parkinson got us there.
