  • That good?
  • We were poor. No creativity from midfield and slow at the back.

If I were a Notts County fan, I'd be gutted but then that's football.
  • Lee Hughes missed 2 sitters and a penalty.
If he'd had his shooting boots on we'd have been history by the time we finally scored.
    A massive let off.
  • One of hughes sitters was flagged offside, it was just the lob that should have scored

Just got in, left 10 mins early, missed the goal. glad we won.

A totally enept and disgraceful performance, by all with the exception of Robbie, Martin. (edited Fry) and Doc.
If Abbots a footballer then I'm the Pope.
    McCormack is a bottler.
Benson, do me a favour. My old mum can run faster.

Parky clueless today. Martin our most creative player was on the wing, we had nothing creative in midfield

    Utter utter Shite
County fans must be on the way back wondering how they lost.

On the plus side the noise that we made when i was walking up Floyd rd when we scored was loud!!

On this performance its gonna be a long season.

    Cack!!
  • Absolute rubbish. Only players who did ok were Elliot, Fry and Martin.

    Francis is useless.
  • Three bonus points given the performance, but they're what matter the most given how open this division looks likely to be.

I didn't realise that. It was still a poor performance from us though.
In a couple of weeks time, we won't remember this game & it'll just be 3 points on the board.
I think we used up our 'flukey win' voucher today.
  • A particularly boring game that we were extremely lucky to get three points from.

We are still struggling to create chances and it boils down to a seemingly unwillingness from either full backs or central midfielders to run ahead of the strikers/wingers. Martin and Reid, although played ok were far too often drifting in the centre making it far too compact.

I thought Francis, Fry and Doherty had decent games but Jackson didnt look 100% fit. I think the time has come to have Racon on from the start or indeed start Martin in there with Semedo allowing for some natural width with Waggy.

Benson and Abbott didnt work or show anything of promise but Sodje and Joe looked lively when they came on which shows we do have options. I honestly think we would've drawn or lost that game last season (Orient, Brighton, Oldham etc) so it bodes well we kept going and actually won.

Need to pick up the pace but once again the results in the league today show how tight it could be so these games are even more important.

Not happy with the performance at all but absolutely delighted with the result.
  • First half we were woeful personally we looked like a team that had never played together.

2nd half I thought it was much improved

MAC and semedo can not play together.

We got going in the 2nd half for 20 mins but then we let them back in and we got lucky with robbie making the save.

I think the constant abuse Hughes got paid off as he wanted to ram the ball in the net and he gave it loads at the end.

Let's not paper over cracks it was not good.

We don't create enough Benson won't score it we don't create and Abbott doesn't look at all like he will score.

Pluses for me Matt fry and lee Martin and reidy put 3 great crosses in

But we got away with a win and lee Hughes is scum

  • we've played alot better and lost (last season) so im trying to see this one as karma ;)
  • Agree,

Dispite the Pen, i Fault Fry was good at the back, In the first Half he delt with the Majority of the Balls comming in,

Martin very good again, didnt stop running, Semedo looked solid, Defo better with Racon rarther then Mac, Benson didnt really have anything to do , no real service to him, Reidy normal self, skilling up defenders putting good balls in, Elliot Superb, really outstanding game from him, First half was bad, 2nd half was better

last season i feel we would have Drawn this or lost it, But dispite us playing bad, we still managed to win!

and lee hughes. is a total ****** and deserves to be shot, His not fit to play this game!
  • We were Fooking lucky and Francis is total pony

    Bring back Solly ASAP
  • Robbie elliot absolutely brilliant today , reid worth paying money to watch
    Noitts county robbed
    League one football junk
    Akpo great effort and cameo
    Anyinsah cheers
    Promotion a dream
Automatic promotion 0% playoffs 40% equalling the worst footballing period in our league history 60%
  • Got out of jail end of.

First half we were woeful. No threat at all. Mac & Semedo cant play together, they sat far too deep and invited pressure. Well done to Parky for changing it early.

Didnt think we were much better in the second half. Concerned that we had a number of set plays in dangerous areas and threatened from none of them.

Parky has a big decision to make up front. Abbott and Benson doesnt work. Benson and Sodje looked ok versus Daggers and that is the way I'd go.

Pluses today - Martin, Fry and thought Francis had his best game for us so far.

Agree Jackson didnt look fit. Disqgree re: Reid. Thought he was okay at best. Final ball from him was poor.

Not impressed with Hughes. No humility at all. When he carrys on like that someone ought to show him a picture of the person he killed.

Basically we got 3 bonus points. We need to improve and quickly. Lets hope Parky is brave enough to admit that the front 2 needs changing as does the cm partnership.
  • It gets the woeful vote from me. Tactically inept, lack of any sort of composure, the list could go on, but to be honest, a bit like the players right now....I cant be bothered. McCormack and Semedo should never be paired in midfield ever again, and to be honest If Francis never plays for us again it will be too soon.....how many suicide passes did he give Doherty today? Against a better side we would have got spanked today and this all feels far too familiar......the coaching staff need to revisit the coaching manuals because this just isnt good enough. Too many more performances will see the 1500-2000 fans who have melted away in the last season more than double.....I have to say that I did indeed wonder this afternoon exactly why I had bothered....
  • Abbott cannot be fit. That was not the same bloke we saw against bournmouth. Was docked he took off Benson instead. Akpo and Joe impressed late on. Fry had a good game jack was good Martin was excellent pull back for the goal was class
  • Thought the JP Trophy game v D&R was one of the worst I've seen. But this was almost as bad.

Imagine how Notts County must be feeling on the long trek back home. How on earth did we steal all three points from that?

I know it's a long season and if you're going to triumph at the end of it, you need to be able to ''play ugly and win''.

But really. Come on. If we can't play better than that at home against a team lacking any real quality, we are going nowhere...

Seldom felt so deflated after a victory. Really wish I could say ''who cares. We won?'' But I'm struggling after a performance like that.

Feel v sorry for Parky. He has to watch that rubbish every week. At least I get most of the away games off!!!

We seem to specialise in players that apparently cannot play together - Mac and Semedo, Abbott and Benson etc.
  • thank god for all the woefuls i honestly thought that maybe i was going mad when afka said it wernt that bad on the match thread
  • Well done Parky for making the changes at the right time.

a Win is a win, always a good sign to win when playing bad

And that home result against Bournemouth is looking good as well...
  • Boring first half, second half was slightly more entertaining with the missed penalty and goal. No real quality.
Got that tune stuck in my head that Notts county fans were singing. Anyone know what tune that is? Bugging me.

Have a mate who saw alot of Abbott at Darlington and he said he is a bit of a sulker. If things dont go his way the work rate drops off.

Agree there is a chance he is cqrrying as he doesn't look the same bloke who played at Orient.
  • poor, and Notts County were very unlucky not to win, mind you they had a pen and missed it, that's their own fault, we got away with it a fair bit, agree with earlier that Robbie, Fry and martin were our best players...was MacCoemack ill or something? We need Dailly back asap to teach em how to play!

This time last week many of us (me included) were having a go at Llera for giving away a peno and costing us a point, Fry gives away a penalty and we get away with it, now Fry seems to be getting pretty glowing reviews for today's game, it' a funny ol game.
  • Parky said Abbott was carrying an injury against D&R, so he's probably carrying
  • Craig Short : " I thought today was a good advert for League One football.''

Now that really is one of those ''were we at the same game'' comments !
  • Oh dear.

Fry looked an improvement and has some pace. Doc lost the ball over the top the Hughes lobbed over, Francis seems to get worse if that is possible. Great run into the box early on and then seem to wait for a tackle rather than shoot. Otherwise he seems a player lacking either any talent or any confidence or quite possibly both. Get fit Solly.

We seemed to start OK and were moving the ball well without creating much but as the game wore on Co. got more and more on top.

We still don't exploit free kicks around the box or corners well enough.

Martin works hard but flatters to deceive IMHO. What end product did he have until the goal? Reid well off his game and it was his slip I think that set them up for the Pen. but still did more damage. We so much need Reid to be on song as when he's not our main outlet is missing.

    Thanks Gawd for Jose.

Benson and Abbott make Dazzler21 look fast. You can see what Burton did now that he's not there doing it. I know it was late on v a tiring defence but Super Joe and Akpo had the movement and pace that we missed all game.

Elliot has to be MOTM not just for the pen save but for dealing with the aerial stuff all day on top of Hughes digs and elbows. Plus his distribution was spot on.

Congrats to Joe Anyinsah. Well taken goal on debut and clearly has pace and wanted to impress. Will wait to see if he can maintain it over a season but he looks useful.

Also I hope the Sodje knockers give him the credit for his performance today.

I think Parky got the team wrong but will give him credit for changing it at HT with Racon and bringing the two strikers on to win it.

Odd division this. We are 9th but only 2 points of top spot. We didn't play at all well or as a team unit but still created chances and won.

And as the ex Notts Co. manager Jimm Sirrel so wisely once said "the best team always wins, the rest is only gossip".

Lady Irving was there and has not seen us lose at the Valley since the return. OK it was only her second game since then (the other being 4 - 0 v West Ham in the Prem) but it's a good record.

Those of you who are friends on Facebook will soon be inundated with pics and vids of Henry jnr as one of today's mascots. He had a great time so well done the Club for that.
  • To be fair, in a grim performance I thought Fry played quite well....especially against someone as prolific as Hughes. If Parky thinks that preformance was an improvement, then god help us.....if he had said we were cack and very lucky Id have respected that, but Phil me old chap, that was woeful mate.
