Still only 3 points off the top, 6 if Wednesday win tomorrow. Agree that team needs time to gel, but we need this to happen sooner rather than later. Listening on CAFC player it didnt sound as though we really turned up.....again. We need a big win next Saturday against Notts (who won 4-0 today) to build some momemtum. Will be interesting to read what those who went actually thought of the performance, and to see the penalty on Beeb tonight, and Abbotts disallowed goal. Still keeping the faith its a long old season.
Another game where the team showed no real threat, something needs to change and soon or I can see the valley once again becoming a horrible place to play....
6 shots on target in 3 games is really not good enough
quote][cite]Posted By: coltsgoalie[/cite]paul benson to score 15 to 20 goals hahaha he shite[/quote]
can hardly blame benson tell me how many chances we created
when we signed benson it was blatently obvious that we would need to change how we play and how we set the team out
yet we have stuck to the same set up
i said he would drop waggstaff even though the poor fecker had hit 2 in 3 games
i made a promise that i wouldnt slate him or the players and i will stick to that
but come on that was 3 points dropped because of how we played and how the team was set up someone should shoulder responsibilty and i would like parky to come out and say yep i got it wrong
As said in the match thread, how many games do we give for teams to gel? This league looks even tighter than last season after 5 games off the season and we cant lose games like this in my opinion.
Im really worried about the lack of creativity in midfield - I'm confident that Abbot, Benson and even Sodje could all get into double figures this season if only they have the service. Teams know they only need one goal against us to get a point minimum.
Think people are being a bit harsh on Exeter saying we definitely have to beat them but clearly I expect more than a loss to them and more than 7 points from 5 games.
Semedo and McCormack far too similar.
Won't score many with those two as a centre mid pairing but might stop a few going in. So can sort of understand it.
racon score on tuesday and is dropped waggy our top scorer with two goals so far this season also dropped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but also need to say get joe anyinsah and jon fortune fit very very quickly please parky ! do you want to be charltons worst ever manager p.s get on that training ground get the players passing and moving and getting in crosses and work on set-pieces
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]The midfield needs to be allowed more freely in my opinion. They just seem restricted.
I think Burton's, touch, hold up play, awareness was better than what we have in Abbott and our wide players can't put in a good cross like Sam and to an extent Richardson did.
With the type of CMs we have, we need to create far more from out wide. Apart from odd moments it's not really happened so far this season. Wagstaff can do it late on with space, and Reid did against a striker playing right back against Bournemouth. Not seen them put in enough crosses, but maybe others don't get the ball to them often enough.
It's easy to say he got it wrong after the game. I think before the game most were happy with the lineup.
Would you have dropped Martin? If not, who would you drop? Or would you play just a single striker.
I think the team was right just the way they express themselves on the pitch is screwed - that may be Parky's fault. With the team today, either Reid or Martin need to make a strikerforce of 3 when the other has possession etc.
we need to move away from 4 4 2 we have 2 cracking tough tackiling centre mids in mac and semedo we have great wingers in reaid and waggstaff we have a bit of a player in martin utilise all 5 it is not bloody hard
then play 2 up top
sit and hold time it right and counter attack once you get teams back peddling turn up the pressure
if this is not happening soon the season will be over
i dont like parky but getting rid of him now would be pointless he has his team now he needs to prove he knows what to do with them

i said when we were getting benson that 3 5 2 is the only way i can see it working and i stick to that i certainly was not happy with how we set up and he should have changed it at half time

Worked for Norwich!

[cite]Posted By: coltsgoalie[/cite]our strikers are awful
How can you judge the strikers when they receive no service? What do you want them to do, create the chances and score them??
yep
Surely anyone good enough to play without 10 others players would be playing in the prem??
I said in the beginning of the match thread that the midfield lacked creativity. This is what happened. I am seriously peturbed by the pairing of Doc and Llera which must be one of the slowest centre back pairings we have ever had. That for me is bad management. Jackson should have been retained at left back and Fry at Centre Back.
This may have allowed for Racon to play in the centre. The service for the strikers sounded non existent.
or 3-5-2 would have been a better formation. with reid and Jackson and wagstaff as martin playing wide midfield.
Parkinson may be able to put a team together on a shoe string but can he actually put together a formation with the players that he has got to grind out results ? I have not yet seen the evidence that he can do that consistently enough to get us out of this league. Better than Curbs ? Don't make me laugh.
The call for 3-5-2 makes sense for the players we have I suppose but that is a reason that very few teams adopt it - it just doesnt work for a full 90 minutes.
We can't do simple things well enough. Some of the first touches, over all ball control and passing was dire. Our mid field is utterly devoid of a holding player. No creativity, no.vision and quite frankly Exeter are rubbish, we made them look good.
A dreadful performance, immediate and massive improvement required.
its not the holding players we are lacking we have 2 of them by playing 3 at the back you can get them to aid in the defence and allow the 3 creative excitig players play their game
but that means a different thought process and a different idea tactically
i believe in 3 5 2 and in this league it will work
I'm still not convinced changing the formation could solve our problems. In a 352 Wagstaff is probably fit enough to be a wing back but Reid isn't. Wouldn't suit Jackson either.

something has to change tho sco cos if it doesnt we have wasted money we couldnt afford on benson

Looked useful attack wise against us in Pre-season...mainly with pace out wide.
Seems like you were unlucky with the penalty decision.

You've got more chance of some of the posters on here accepting somethings actually wrong....

I wish we would go to teams such as Exeter and attack them. The level of belief is all wrong.
Our set pieces are terrible. Forget as many goals for Abbott and Doherty with deliveries like that.
I wonder if Pawel Abbott regrets coming to Charlton now, because he'd probably score more at Oldham.
Not buying into the Parky out rubbish, but a tactical overhaul may be required.
i can not for the life of me ever accept that we should not beat exeter city come on that should be 3 points all day long
ill give everyone one here a pound if we get promoted and a fiver if we win league 1

The way they are currently performing makes Llyod Sam look like Christiano Ronaldo.

A disappointing day. Lets hope Akpo Sodje is ok.

Amazing! We HELD them for ninety minutes and conceded a suspect penalty.
It's creativity in the centre of the side we lack
