  • Dammit! Good business for the club, but bad news for the coming season on the pitch.

We just have to hope a freebie will turn up from somewhere to take his place.
  • I'm not happy about Richardson going but to be honest £450,000 is to much to refuse.

On another note Parky will have no say in these player sales. So can't be praised or criticized for them. The board stance is very obvious if someone makes a reasonable offer the players goes. Whether we have another right back lined up or not.
  • £450,000 is probably the best transfer dealing we've done in the last 5 years - let's just hope it's going back into re-inforcing the ever diminishing playing squad!

£450k is very good money in my book and agree with supaclive. First time I feel we've won in a transfer deal in ages.

Like everything it's who they bring in (or not). . . .
  • A good fee, but this has pissed me off more than I thought possible.

Maybe it's just because he's gone to that utter, utter twat Pardew.

Sorry, but he makes me feel murderous...grrrrrrrrr think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts......
  • Who would you like to see come in and replace him? I see Osei Sankofa is available on a free but not been a regular down at Southend so that may jus be one for a bit of nostalgia as opposed to a genuine target...

I think thats whats annoying me too. I knew some would go but wouldn't give Pardew the steam off my piss!
  • gutting.

    Bad move, Parky...[/quote]

Bad move Parky, give it a break, these are board room decisions, nothing to do with Parkie, jeez I supposem global warming is his fault too!

As it's "only" right back, I'm not sure there will be a replacement.

  • Absoloutely gutted thought he was a very good right back and although we got good money we are going to be watching a hell of a lot of turd running around out there next year!

Another thing that grates is they went into admin a little while ago and now throw cash around as if its going out of fashions it stinks a bit
  • Really annoyed at this, was beginning to feel positive about next season with Doherty signing up and the rumours about Jackson and/or Reid.

Another reason to hate Pardew. Not sure if Solly is quite ready for regular first team football so hopefully we will bring someone in. Pity Omozusi has been signed up by Orient but sure there are plenty of others out there.

Need somebody with a bit of pace imho as Doherty and Dailly/Llera are not the quickest and if Basey is playing aswell, it would leave us vulnerable there.
  • Very disappointed to see him go, but £450k (if it is that up front) is a very good bit of business in our league for a right back going into the last season of his contract.

No surprise that they wanted to put the fee on the official site on this occasion, while Southampton give it as 'undisclosed'.

Who does that leave left that anyone might want to buy - Semedo or maybe Racon?
  • Anyone that thinks:

    a) Solly is ready to cover a whole season.
    b) Parky will see a penny of the "fee" to spend on another "fee".
    c) Thinks that is the last big departure.
    d) We will get anything near 450k upfront.
    e) We told Doc about this before he signed.
    f) Any player worth his salt isnt going to have serious second thoughts about coming to us.

Has taken more drugs than William Burroughs, Hunter Thompson and keith Richards combined.

Fuming. If he goes he goes. But to his team?
  • Agree with what Clem says, particularly the 'fee upfront' bit.

Suspect it is half that quoted amount, with the rest on staged appearances, promotion etc.
  • There comes a point where fans will only take so much prepare for a backlash
  • We're not really aiming for the play-offs are we? I can understand we couldn't turn the offer down. I'm not being negative, I just can't see how any manager could possibly build a squad to challenge for promotion. We need signings in most positions and the back up for pretty much every position will be an academy player. Has a club ever won promotion from this level with a squad like that?

You don't win anything with kids.
  • great price for frazer, shame he's off had some great games, but I have alot of faith in solly, and really dont get all this he's not ready, he's too small, if any1 had watched him jump to head a ball its very sodje esc leaps like a salmon, and also held his own out of position on the left, I have complete faith with a good preseason will grow into a great rb for us this season

if i was the club and some1 offered me 450k for frazer i would bite their hands off, he's good but he's not that good, was never overally confident with his defending and pace on the turn was dire. still we'll miss his driving runs forward and his link up play with sam, who is also now gone.
  • Oh dear this is a bit of a shocker. What message is this sending out to not only our fans but also our rivals that we are prepared to sell probably the best right back in the league to a team that are tipped to be in the auto shake up, unless we can bring in some worthy new faces in the very near future then I cant see us finishing above mid table

  • Oh well. . .
  • Relax, its a cunning ploy, Frazer always chokes in the play offs.

Actually its pretty shit but not entirely unexpected.
  • All this talk of kids stepping up makes my blood boil. All we have is Solly and a number of others who hardly set the world alight whilst out on loan at non-league sides last year.

Chuck that lot in and you will destroy them. Confidence possibly gone for good at this club. Mambo is the only one who looks up to it physically. Problem is he doesnt look ready.

I was expecting 1-2 or two half decent freebies and some make do signings. Anyone in our sights is now thinking "do I want to go there? Who the hell am I going to be playing alongside?"

I fear for us this year. I really do.
  • we are going one way only and that is down our youngsters aint good enough so unless parky has a master plan we are in deep shite .
  • Always look on the bright side of life..............Who's in charge these days, Glickstein? Typical Charlton...BOOOOOOOO

What I meant was it seems most likely what will happen. Not that it should or I think they are ready and can definitely handle it. Someone said right backs don't win you games, and I think that's how Parky might see it. Save money at right back for maybe a bit more wages on a striker.
  • Just horrible, depressing news. Here's hoping a group of new players on PP's 'lined up list' are unveiled tomorrow to soften the blow.
  • Can you imagine the furore if Semedo left?? Think Samaritans adverts would have to be posted on the front page!
  • To be honest I was annoyed until I saw the fee .

Let's wait to see our other incomings / outgoings

Frazer only had a year left and came here free last season, we have done well here financially.

It's a shame Omuzzi has signed for the O's , maybe Irwin or Kelly will be one of our Liverpool loans.
  • I think Chris Solly is 20 now, so why shouldn't he be ready? How old was Bob Curtis when he became our first choice right back? 18, I believe. Solly has always looked a very decent player whenever I've seen him and, in the 3rd division, it can't make sense to hold our young players back indefinitely. We've got £450,000 for a player for whom we have a readymade replacement -- and reserves, in Jenkinson and Cousins -- so perhaps we can now afford a fee for a goalscorer.

And I don't buy the idea that this will deter players off from joining us. Pros know full well that players come and go, and, at this level, I believe we are still an attractive proposition to potential signings.
