"Southampton expressed an interest in me and then made an offer to Charlton that I don't think they could refuse, I'm thoroughly delighted to be here," Richardson revealed.
Sum undisclosed, but Richardson makes it sound reasonably substantial.
So it's us wanting the money ......not the player especially wanting to leave.
And we'll no doubt replace him with a lower earner.
Thanks for last season, Frazer.
And BTW, you take a better penalty than Nicky Bailey.
I think we'll see Solly given the chance with Jenkinson and Cousins as back up now. Three young players capable of playing at right back, all promising, and with us cutting costs we're hoping one of them can make the position their own.

Wasn't expecting that.
No doubt this will turn into a Pardew hating thread etc but the usual questions:
Any good?
Strengths and Weaknesses?
In the League One team of the year, one of the better right backs at this level (I haven't seen others enough to compare really).
He has the fitness and work rate to get up and down the pitch, generally reliable defensively and decent going forward. Not much about his game that stands out as a huge strength or weakness really.

Trust you to find the positive Oggy :-)
I guess we can hope it's some sort of ridiculous offer
Completely out of left field that one! Will be interesting to see who we get in to replace him, Solly not good enough at the moment imo, and his lack of height worries me.
Saints Fan - Richardson looks decent in this division and gets up the wing well. Not sure how good he would be in the Championship though as he was turned inside out a couple of times last season when we played against the better opposition/better wingers. My hunch is it will be good for both clubs in that he will help get you promotion which is all you really care about, but because it is Pardew buying he will no doubt have given us £millions.
Good luck to Richardson, I really rate Solly and hope he can come in and really make the position his own.
Gutted - could live with it if he was going to a Championship side but not to another League 1 side and especially not to Pardew - he should be forced to take McClown as well for £1.1m or whatever it was we wasted on him

Blimey
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And to another team in our division too.
Bugger, bugger, bugger.
Apparently they made an offer we couldnt refuse.
I can't remember the last singular piece of Charlton news that has p1ssed me off so much.
Best right back in the division last year. I am so shocked at this one and absolutely gutted!
Much rather him than Semedo.
Less worried about that really. Saints are going up imo, our sights are going to be a few places lower if that

They got Murty last year and we ended up with the better right bqack, hopefully we can do it again this year.
Good luck Frazer.
He saddled us with him at £8k a week for long enough and then nicks one of the few half decent players we have left.
Thoroughly pi**** off.
At this moment I really feel tempted to cancel my season tickets.
I won't though because I'm a mug.
Next season is a whole new ball game though.
How much do we reckon they offered?
