  • i think we want bryan robson playing on the wing for us up and down tackles goals ....
omg sam is easily one of our better players
  • [cite]Posted By: uncle[/cite]Have you seen the clip where they are all waiting in the box for the assist that never arrives?.....Oh of course you have, all bloody season

That's an interesting point to make about a player who's joint-top in the assists table...

    Hmm.

Hmm 10 assists all season not great from a wide man who's main objective is to get the ball in the box. 10 how many games has he played this season ? Not a great return is it? And before you all start with he set them up but they couldn't score. Thats rubbish because in defence of the forwards i can say he never put enough crosses in and thats our opinions. No one has facts on the amount of crosses sam put in that wasn't converted so its just speculation, likewise i cant tell you the amount of times players waited for the cross that never came, so interesting point or not what i said is my opinion and as near to the truth as all the tosh about him supplying lots that wasn't converted
  • Getting 10 assists is pretty good though (agree, not great). The best in the league is 16 from McGovern, who has a good and consistent partnership up front for Swindon, and is probably a better player than Sam. After that you have Roberts of Huddersfield on 15, Hoolahan and Puncheon on 13, Lambert on 12 and a group of players on 11.

Considering some of those probably (I don't know for sure) take corners or free kicks, in comparison to the rest of the league, 10 isn't bad is it?

He can do better, he has disappointed a bit too often, but at the same time he has offered something positive to the team.

Nah Sam's rubbish Scoham. So what if he got 10 assists this season, the joint highest in the squad. He should still be singled out for criticism because he never contributed anything all season. Apart from those 14 goals, that is. But what kind of return is that for a supposedly great player? But he's not great, he's crap. So 14 goals is still a crap return.

Oh no I've gone and confused myself and don't appear to know what I'm talking about
  • I think we'd all agree that the guy has bundles of talent but doesnt use it as much as he can. The most frustrating aspect of his game is not that he is inconsistent (he's a winger, its to be expected), its that he has this habit of coming inside more than he should.
The one time he got down the outside of the swindon full-back he created a chance (not the first time i've found myself saying that this season). When he consistently comes inside it conjests the play and slows it down. Then he does the usual stuttering step overs. We may keep possesion but the dangers usually passed. Drives me up the wall.
  • [cite]Posted By: masicat[/cite]Sam - don't I know you? Don't I sit behind you in the East ? You cannot still be defending him surely? His shirk of a tackle and gentle jog back at Swindon sums him up. Curbs would have subbed him for pulling out of a tackle.
Missed you for the last game, my customary surprise of ''Blimey, they've bought Lloyd Sam on'' as the players run out for the second half fell flat without you there.

You mean you missed one of my looks !!

But one of the reasons why he slows it down is because he's waiting for there to be more than the one forward in the penalty area. If he sent the cross straight in the odds are it'd go straight to a defender or the keeper, and everyone'd slag him off for wasting possession. He can't win basically.

Opposite of Bailey really, who likes to swing crosses in, even if it's just Mooney and Wagstaff in the box. At Swindon last Friday Bailey tried that a few times and Swindon cleared it.
