    Sadly yes.

    Members Only thread as well.

Thanks to however passed it on....:-(
  • I don't really have a problem with it being passed on - if that's what happened. This is a public forum after all.

Bloody stupid writing it in the first place if you ask me.

  • [cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Sadly yes.(

Is that a 'yes' it was from this board or a 'yes' we're in the brown stuff even if we go up?
  • It doesn't mean it's been passed on though, does it? There must be more than one journo that's a member of these boards. Blogs must be such a great place to source "non-stories" when there's nothing of substance to say, they'd be mad not to sign up.

Who do we reckon is the Bertie Smalls?

Which charlton fan writes for the mail? Ill take the rest of the post out. X
  • I feel sorry for him really and it's a shame that that is probably going to be the end of a long long involvement. All for telling the truth and being 'one of us'.
  • Just hope there's a real sparticus moment when waggy walks in shouting whose ***** ***** and all the staff jump up "I'm ****** *****" No I'm ****** *****.. and so on have hidden name in the vague hope they really don't know. Someone had to say it.
  • Must have missed that post, so this is news to me. Pretty depressing! How on earth have we let ourselves get into the mess. Whatever happened to being the 'well-run' club. We're certainly going to have that thrown in our faces from all angles when/if we go into admin.

  • Sorry but wtf is going on?

I've had a sh1t weekend so far so can someone speak plainly.

Is this true? & if so, which member thought it wise to spill it to the papers?
  • Very obvious that this is the case I mean think about it, where we have been to where we are now. I think we've just been blind to the truth, if we don't go up this season I really fear for the future of our club and have done for some time.
  • I don't think it's completely unrealistic to assume that journos have logins to fans forums. We've all seen transfer rumours pop up in newspapers that originally began on a messageboard, or even quotes from fans themselves.
  • I'd be very disappointed if the person said to have leaked this is the person we are all saying it is as I thought he'd be above that. I always thought him a respectable journalist. Must admit I missed the original posting so can anyone point me in the right direction, even if via a whisper.
  • Think it was the 'what does waggy do for his wages' or somthing. It was sunk by smudge as it was getting bit deep and depressing when as dan said we should be focusing in on the 2 games against swindon.
  • Nothing said on that thread saying ........'the debt will just get bigger,' wrote the insider. 'It doesn't matter what they say publicly, the detailed accounts are damning. The club is headed towards administration and even if they do get promoted, it may not be enough to save them from that.'

That article is suggesting we are losing £10.9m a year. I would suggest that is absolute bollocks.

Anyway, 'the insider' is not registered on CL.

Shame this has come out today, most of it is not news for anyone on here or who reads CAFC forums. We all know theres a big struggle ahead financially whatever and this site is hardly the Steve Waggot fan club. Lets just hope we can turn it round on Monday, win at Wembley, then face the next struggles on and off the pitch.
  • Owning our own ground is soon going to be a happy memory. I hope the board come out and take a bow at the end of the season.

The timing of all this Waggy business couldn't have been worse...why now fer Christs sake...absolutely ridiculous behaviour from a few posters IMHO.
If I knew who they were and I were to meet them I would have no hesitation in pinning their ears back.
Airman, I've always had the greatest respect for you over many years but in this particular instance I simply cannot support your comments in the Waggy thread 'at this moment in time'. Maybe I'm being naive...or a bit old fashioned in my opinion but I'm looking for 100% unity from top to bottom at such an important few days in the clubs history. These views and issues are for another time and place.
Sorry Rick but there we are, I'm sure you are more than capable of justifying your views...but at this moment Rick...honestly, I'm perplexed to say the least!
PS...as for who the insider is re the further revelations I have no idea....I refer here 'only' to Airmans earlier comments re Waggy.
  • well we all think we know who it is

so come on then did you sell Charlton life down the fooking swanny

  • 3 things
    who is it then ?
why did they do it ?
    and is it true ?

dont forget peeps its much better to paint a nice dark horror story isnt it. After all we know things aint rosy dont we and if they were would it be in the press ?

I mean how many lines would this get " CAFC have loads of cash and its all loverly jubliee" i did sell it to Das Stormer the other had for a cream bun and a latte but all you Guardianistas wouldnt have seen it.
  • Why think anyone might have needed to pass it on?
I would be very surprised if there weren't a number of journalists with no connection to the club registered as members on here, especially since our transformation from well-run club to a basket case.

Regular posters include club employees past and present and a relative of one of our (now ex) best known players, so we shouldn't be surprised if it is being used as a source of stories.
  • Certainly nothing we didn't already know. Perhaps slightly OTT but in essence probably not a million miles from the truth.
  • The story about the finances is made up nonsense anyway - until our audited accounts come out only the Board would have a clear picture.

    £30k a day my arse.

And S, Seth Plumb has been banging on about this for at least 18 months. It just seems that now he has been partly justified.
  • I don't know if any of you are aware, the comments by Airman Brown re Waggott were posted on the OS your views. Though when i went back to Your Views an hour or two later they had been removed.

I don't think you'll find any such quote from me on recent threads on Charlton Life (or elsewhere) . . .

Looks like a spot of creative writing to me.

I am more than happy to discuss any comments I have actually made with the Charlton board.

Indeed, senior colleagues and I would welcome the opportunity to do so.
  • This is why i havn't commented on the afore mentioned thread. Who is going to want to take charge of a club were the fans have no gratitude or respect for the guys at the top who are trying to run a club.
  • Are the quotes exact quotes, ie word for word what someone wrote on here, or any other messageboard? One thing that stood out for me was the use of the word "they" and "their" for our beloved, instead of "we" and "our" - Derek Hunter a stirring fan of Millwall, Huddersfield or Swindon, anyone know?
  • Agree that this looks like a speculative "creative" piece of writing but as a Charlton fan who has absolutely no inside track whatsoever I am a little concerned the the whole sub text to all of this leads me to think that all is not particularly rosy at a financial and managerial level of the club. Again speaking with no knowledge I wondered long and hard about Peter Varney departing and to be honest I am now at the point where I really do think that we might genuinely have a very rocky road ahead.
  • I don't remember anyone saying

"It doesn't matter what they say publicly, the detailed accounts are damning. The club is headed towards administration and even if they do get promoted, it may not be enough to save them from that"

    I think that's made up.

I guess there's no way of banning journalists from the forum is there ? This is a good source of information on Charlton where alot of people feel comfertable posting what could be considered sensitive information. A real shame if that stops now.
