Lisbie last night

edited April 2010 in General Charlton
Anyone see what Lisbie did to get sent off? felt a bit sorry for him, being shoved on the wing after we scored, must have been a frustrating night for the fella, I have never seen anyone leave the pitch so fast after a sending off!

  • I can only assume that it was for dissent as were a few of there other bookings.
  • haha didn't know he got sent off! oh well nevermind
  • Straight red for violent conduct.
  • Sent off for 'Serious Foul conduct' apparently according to SKY last night.
  • Thought he looked dangerous prior to their loanee getting injured then looked ineffective on the wing.
  • LOL! I didn't see that..i just looked up and saw the red card and i thought he'd given the ref another mouthful of abuse.I'll try and pay attention next game.
  • Another opposing player sent off after an incident with Bailey. What a coincidence.......... :p
  • Headbutt on Bailey by all accounts. Didn't seem to complain much after shown the red.
  • It was Lisbie's moaning and pathetic reactions that got us both our yellow cards.
  • tut tut Lisbie, you silly boy... still he's only young and still an excellent prospect for the future

    XD

I reckon he ran and covered more turf last night than in the 20 odd years he spent with us!
He and Bailey had been having words throughout the game.
  • About two or three occassions he got the ball just inside our half on the left hand side and started to go on one of those runs, and THAT goal against Liverpool just kept flooding back.

Can't for the life of me understand why some people boo and harangue him like they do, just don't get it.
  • On one of those runs, in the second half, he really should have kept going but chose take the foul that he could have easily avoided.
  • Still a dangerous player at this level.

We did well to contain him and my Baldrick like cunning plan of backing him for first scorer was vindicated!

Because as said on many occasions... we have many winkers that follow this club. Sounds like adam had a few nearby.

I agree. As said, he looked quite a handful before being moved wide, but seems to have developed a tendency to go over which I don't recall from his time with us. Surely that couldn't be anything to do with Boothroyd's influence?! Didn't see anything of the incident that got him sent off - I just looked up and there he was sauntering off to ironic jeers. Oh well.

Afka I thought exactly the same about Lisbie on those 2 times he started to run at us I even turned to my mate and said he's going to do his Liverpool on us.
I could never understand the stick he got when he was with us. True he missed chances like they all do but you have to have got in the right position to miss them in the first place. I always thought he was a good servant to the club and I said last night that I wished we still had him particularly at this level.
So I didn't understand the stick he got, and like Pete, I felt some sympathy for the bloke and relieved he didn't stick one past us.
  • considering we probably made him a millionaire, one hat-trick against Liverpool + another dozen or so decent performances, I'd say he did o.k out of us.

Apart from the Liverpool game he just never really 'did it'.

  • A championship quality player who I would welcome back like a shot in our current position.

It's part of the often prevailing present day Charlton mentality ....?

Although by all accounts, a much more positive and encouraging atmosphere & support last night!
  • thats cos we were one nil up. Wait till we go one nil down in the first 10 on saturday... norwich fans will laugh at us.
  • Did see Lisbie and Bailey going at it in the first half. Just thought it was Bailey up to his nonsense again ...

Then Lisbie did tht tumble to win a free kick just before half time ... was a dive and got me pished off.

HAVE TO SAY HAVE ALWAYS LIKED Lisbie, but happily waved him off last night ....
  • I really felt sad that he had got sent off, and not really sure he deserved the derision aimed at him, there are only a few ex players I would consider booing, and Lisbie is not one of them, for his hat trick against Liverpool alone he does not deserve that treatment. I

Very out of character I'd say, if he headbutted Bailey. He's a lovely fella and deserves far better from Charlton fans who only seem to remember the Liverpool hat trick and forget about the brace against Spurs, the last minute winner at Stamford Bridge or the 25 yard cracker at Ipswich, plus countless others. Or the numerous amount of assists and openings that his speed and skill created for others.
It makes me very angry when our so called fans treat one of our own products and a good guy so badly.
  • Just remembering that brilliant Lisbie overhead kick that William Gallas punched off the Arsenal line, with his keeper well beaten.

No penalty, of course ..... we were playing Arsenal.
  • From where I was I didn't think Lisbie got (or deserved) nearly as much abuse as Gillespie. Didn't see the offence, just the red (looked like a straight to me) coming out and Lisbie already with his back to the ref trotting off with his head down - so whatever it was he didn't seem to have many complaints
  • If he's not wearing a Charlton Kit then he can get some stick, as long as its not too personal. Part & parcel of going back to your old club.
  • Lisbie and Bailey had a bit of a to do in the first half not long after the Lisbie claim for a pen. Not surprised it boiled over in the end as Bailey is not one to let things go, pity he got sent off but Boothroyd said they will appeal so guess we will see from that if he deserved a red.
