[cite]Posted By: ValleyGary[/cite]Bailey shouldnt be dropped....just played in the right position.

What is his best position? He's had chance after chance to play in a two man central midfield and has failed to nail down a place. We play rubbish football when he's the creative fulcrum and get overrun when he plays a more defensive role. Like i said before the last game i'd actually like to give him a go next to Shelvey but its more in hope than expectation that he's got the discipline to play a more defensive role.

Centre Midfield without a doubt. The bloke gets no chance of striking up any kind of consistent form when he's playing in a different role every week! Swindon at home/away and Wycombe away (2nd half) he played centre mid and absolutely ran the show....next game he'll be out on the left. The mans a box to box centre midfielder all day long...not a left midfielder...yet him in charge cant see that. Semedo can hold as he rarely gets out the centre circle anyway and Shelvey can play behind Burton. Job done.

Wasn't at the Wycombe or Swindon away games so can't comment on those but I don't think any of our players can have ran the game against Swindon at home. We were overrun for 90% of the game.

Results have been worse when Bailey has been in the middle of a 4-4-2. He may play better, but the team doesn't. And that's all that matters.
  • When we had 11 men and even 10...Bailey was the only player that got the ball down and got it into Burtons feet and went for the return. Looked head and shoulders above everyone else and we looked like a decent side.

Since Bailey isn't the only one better in a 4-5-1, I think we need to change to that for the good of the team. It suits Shelvey, Racon, Semedo and maybe even Sam more than 4-4-2. Only issue is who plays up front on their own, we'd either lack a physical presence with Mooney, or lack a decent touch and a brain with Sodje doing it.

If Mooney played there we would be forced to play to feet which has to be a good thing.

We are physically a very small side so need to out football rather than out muscle opponents. One of the frustrating things on Saturday was seeing that lanky centre half comfortably heading balls away from Burton and Mooney. Yet still we lumped them up. All that happens is that the ball comes straight back and once again the defence is under pressure.

One thing I noticed on Saturday is that players, Mooney excepted and Burton while he was on, were not running off the ball to make themselves available to receive a pass. Kishishev used to do that all day long but was never appreciated but in my opinion a lot of our problems are because of lack of options. Racon does not play for 90 minutes and it is the responsibility of midfield to offer options.
  • I agree with the points you make, though Mooney played up front on his own in the JPT at Southampton and we still hoofed it up to him. That's my main worry if we did that.
  • I think you have to question the wisdom of playing Deon Burton against much taller centre backs.

The fitness of much of the squad is also a doubt. Lloyd Sam was awful on Saturday and I would like to know the win percentage when Nicky Bailey plays on the left. Bailey looks as if he carrying an injury. Strange but Borrowdale seemed much fitter than the rest of the team.

A few seasons ago (when Martin O'Neill was manager) one of the Leicester management appeared at the back of east stand with a laptop to record the action on the pitch. Why do Parkinson, Breacker and Kinsella all need to be in the technical area? Somebody should be watching the game from higher level.

Just a thought, how about Christian Dailly in front of the back 4?
  • Breacker DOES sit in the home Directors' Box , Crusty - at least until his presence or input is needed in the technical area.

Give him a couple of weeks to adjust to the Charlton way .......

Probably better than when he's played in the middle, as he played on the left at the start of the season.
