I'm writing from afar and haven't seen Charlton this season but the team selection seems weird.
Time to start playing Shelvey. Every week he's on the bench or not even in the squad must see his value decrease and it seems increasingly likely we'll be selling him atthe end of the season.
With Charlton trailing 2-1, a section of the Valley faithful made their feelings clear at half-time and Parkinson said: "What the supporters have got to understand is that I've pieced this team together with absolutely no money. I've always been in a position of uncertainty, even over what wages I can give players because of the financial constraints at the club.
"If there any supporters out there with the odd million pounds floating around and they want to donate it to us to go and get a proven striker, like Norwich City did when they got Grant Holt, then I'll gladly go and get it. "But with the wages I've had to spend, we're third in the table. The majority of the supporters have been great but there is a minority that need to get up tomorrow morning and look at the league table. "They need to look at how much money teams like Huddersfield Town, Colchester United and Millwall have spent compared to us. We've pieced our team together with loan players and free transfers and they're going very well and fighting for that second spot.”
Have to say I like that, shows he's got fire in his belly, not afraid to stick his head above the parapet, I don't think I want a meek manager saying sorry every week
Undoubtedly he'll get slated by the majority for his comments but if anyone doubted his commitment and passion then you've got a bit of what you are asking for.

I am not his biggest fan but we've got what we've got and we've got a run-in that could see us promoted...
We're still in there with a chance of promtion - and a promotion campaign ought to be exciting , exhilarating and enthralling with either heart-break or elation at the end of it.
For some reason, this season has been none of those things. If we don't go up, I fear my response will be one of resignation. And if we do, all I shall muster is pleasant surprise.
Watching crap every week - even when winning more often than you lose - seems to drain the passion.
For the first time in 34 years of marriage, when my wife comes out with her habitual Saturday night mantra ''why all this fuss over 11 men kicking a ball about, it's only a stupid game''. this season I've mostly just shrugged and said 'yeah, you're right''...

To be fair that will be the response of a lot of people. My old man went to his first game in the 1940's. Couldn't find a bigger Charlton fan but after the recent decline it's almost as if he's seen it all and the hurt of watching everything unravel all over again is making him have to slowly detach himself. Still the first to get his season ticket application in but mentally the old fight has gone. It's habit not a passion anymore.
I do think Parky has a point, but what he has to remember is that we've had years of our team playing absoultly terrible. I know hardly any of that is his fault but he is the guy in the dugout now and there are a lot of people completly sick of how terrible we now are.
Saying that i found today a bit better. I think a lot is down to me expecting us to be really bad so i was quite pleased with some parts of our play today. I think Semedo played really well and won a lot of balls in the midfield. Mooney stretched the play quite well and held up the ball on quite a few occasions.
We do look awful in defence, everytime we concede a corner i'm terrified. I think the only people more worried than me are our defence.
Looking at our fixtures i think we're in for a tough few weeks.
He's obviously had fans say to him or heard them moaning about Akpo and Mooney (in fact, some even moan about Burton).
Thing is last season people wanted Parky to be judged on results. We had some decent performances towards the end of last season, but couldn't get the results (and we can argue all day over whether we had a good team or not). This season results have been good, apart from a few games. We're third, still have a chance of automatic promotion but too often performances haven't been convincing. I'm not confident of us even winning in the play-offs, never mind getting 2nd, but the chance is there.
I do feel if another manager came in and had us in this position, but performances weren't great, he'd be getting praise for turning things around.
I said the other day Norwich could afford Holt, Leeds have Beckford (plus Southampton got Lambert), but it was dismissed as it not making a difference because of our (much hyped) midfield. I couldn't make it today, but from the sounds of it, a good finisher might have made the difference in a game like this?
Adsolutely no drive or urgency (other than a ten min spell in 2nd half)
Sodje is woeful, infact both give me nightmares at either end, sam had a good game although drifted inside bit too much, frazer was poor defensivly ok going forward, semedo and racon were ok, the new left back looks no better than solly playin out of position but it was his first game so i'll hold judgement a while, dailey was poor.
I also think its time to drop bailey for a game or so, and play reid racon semedo and sam across the middle
Their keeper had a blinding game though other than frazers goal that is, and their big guy upfront had both dailey and sodje in his pocket.
Clearly a team looking to get in the play offs should be beating Gillingham at home. We had most of the game but just couldn't get the three points. They scored a long range shot and Elliot made a blunder, but that apart we didn't really look in trouble.
I thought Mooney was slightly better than he has been - the goal shocked me to be honest. He still isn't good enough for the upcoming games though.
Lloyd Sam didn't do enough for me, and Bailey's passing was not that good today.
I thought Semedo was the man of the match, and one of the few who looked like they really wanted it. Some great tackles in there. Racon should be ashamed of his pathetic outburst in the dugout after his substitution. Parky made the right choice bringing Reid on for him at that time of the game.
I like PP`s post match interview. Shows he does have some balls and I get the feeling we might just see a reaction. Come out fighting Parky and prove me wrong.

ditto, it's inflammatory but I see it in a positive way, his players might be but he isn't laying down and dying. He aint the best manager in the world but he's our manager and by the sounds of it, despite his own mistakes, he's as pissed off as some of us.
Can't be bothered to rant and rave. We had enough chances to win two games comfortably, yet I still walk away from the ground thinking what a poor performance it was. The lack of urgency and leaders on the pitch is a real worry. No one seems capable of grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and controlling things.
I have defended Elliot on here in the past but I think enough is enough now, what was he doing for the 2nd goal?. He seems to be averaging a clanger a game at the moment. Does anyone else have slightly sceptical attitude towards this injury? He looked mentally in bits as he went off at halftime.
Yes we came up against a keeper who had a good game but that doesn't excuse our inability to seize on the loose ball in the box.
Defensively we are a mess. We look like we could concede everyime the opposition get within 20 yards of our goal.
Today was a must win, looking at the next few games it could be real squeeky bum time for the play offs.
parkys comments - we may well have spent the least but look at our actuall wage bill and then compare to the rest of league one and see who gets value for money
Thought we done quite well in patches today. Could've had 4 by half time. Their first was quality, not much chance of anyone stopping that. Lloyd played well today, Mooney made some good runs and finished his goal well. Sam Sodje gives me heart attacks! Racon seems to be on a different planet half the time and Burton and his injuries worry me, we really need him in the run in.
Should have really had 3 points today but those around us have given us a gift again with their results. Here's hoping for a draw on Monday.

I didn't think Elliot was injured either. I said it at the time. The fact they stated on the tannoy "for the injured Rob Elliot" is a massive giveaway. Why would they give the reason for a substitution?

Did a double take when I heard that. Had to get Rothko to confirm that BDL had actually said it.
[cite]Posted By: hudson-son-son[/cite]Anyone else see Racon when he was subbed? Thought it would have been mentioned by now but he kicked the sub bench a few times.
Yep. Saw his temper tantrum. If you don't want to get subbed get yourself involved in the game. He was missing in the 2nd half. To be fair you could have taken your pick of him or Bailey, but it was always going to be him.

Our defending is so poor it is laughable.
Im starting to believe we be better off swapping bailey for shelvey as he seems to be so busy doing other peoples jobs he doesnt do his own.
Sodje was a liability on a few occasions today
For a spell aftger his goal, mooney really putting some moves together around the box.
If leeds millwall is a draw all is not lost.
Sh!t defending though. Cant escape that.
Parky's post match interview makes interesting reading.

Most dissappointing thing today was the booing!!!

Personally thought Bailey had a stinker today.
And pushing Kins out of the way too!!!!!
