What ever happened to some of the shops you used to see on most High Streets that have now vanished?
A couple to kick off with:
The Golden Egg
Timothy Whites
Kennedys (South London only).
Anyone remember any others that have now been swallowed up, or just gone out of business (Woolies not included)?

Bank branches
Butchers (all my local ones have closed)
Greengrocers (ditto)
Although not sure if the fishing and gun shop versions are still by Danson Park?
Safeway
Our Price
Taken over by Iceland a fair few years ago.
Don't know what happened to Our Price and Sam Goody record shops.
Benjy's sandwich bars
There's a Threshers at the Oval in Sidcup
That must be the only one. 99% of them have gone. One in Long Lane, one in Blackfen and Northumberland Heath have all bitten the dust.
Think there's still a Wendy's on Deptford Broadway.
Virgin/Zavvi
Booers (Eltham High Street)
Raggity Anns (Blackheath)
Kwik Save
Coats & 'Ats (C&A)
I'll think of more!
EDIT: Not shops but Berni (?spelling) Inns.
ABC cinema
Challenger and Hicks
and the L is for "left", see? So that way, I know which one to put on which foot.
"Oh", she said, "that's why it says "C&A" on the label of ...
Maid Marrion
Caters
Presto
Got my first train set/scaletrix there, sniff!
C & A
Electric Boutique
Any Toy Shops.
There's a Wendy's in Lewisham high street and loads of butchers there too. The Kennedy's in Bromley turned in to a Formula one shop which has also gone.
