Cheers for all the goodwill, it has topped off a great weekend. Back down to the smoke today after staying local last night. Got a bit of a sore throat but can't complain
Respect to the guys and gals that made it up to the VS yesterday from your ranks. As LVC said, it's a long drive back south after a bad defeat. You are a credit to your club. Keep the faith!
Really enjoyed myself around these parts these last couple of weeks and I fully intend to stick around. Being so close, I may even pop over to The Valley to see you turn out some time. You are a great bunch here and the Vics fans have been made to feel really welcome. Cheers.
Can't wait for the 2nd round. To be on ITV again is something else! Whoodathunkit! You'll be free that Saturday/Sunday now, tune in if you can bear.
Great to read your comments here, in fact the banter since the draw was made has been top notch; I shall certainly be paying your forum a regular visit in the future and doubtless I'll not be the only Vicster on here either.
Great day for us obviously. Given we were short of our leading scorer and the pivotal influence (and Captain) in defence, a cup shock was only a bit of a dream. The most I realistically hoped for was a draw. Truly feel for you all, but particularly your travelling support, it's a long way home after such a poor display by your boys. The trip back to Cambridge is bad enough (done that journey often enough in defeat over the last few seasons), but LCV and I floated back up the A14 last night on a wave of euphoria.
Glad you enjoyed your surroundings and hospitality, even if the result wasn't the one you were looking for. Incidentally I told you the pitch would be a good 'un and indeed it was (thought that would be our undoing).
Best of luck in your efforts to get back into the Championship; I'll be keeping a close eye and returning on a regular basis (if that's okay?) to post my opinion on all and sundry.
Genuinly thought that after admiring the quality of your pitch, we would win. You could have gone down the path of making the field a difficult one to play on. Credit to you for that. Wondering who's pissed off more about the result, me or your local rivals?

I should imagine the Al**on fans are quietly stoical about the whole thing (roll eyes before howls of derisive laughter). They really must've slept very badly last night .... and then to find out today the TV cameras are to return .... they must be fit to burst!! ... Tee hee!!!
Maybe yesterday was what was needed in the long run .... a good kick up the pants .... get you focused .... then three points against Mk Nomads on Saturday. Trust me it'll happen .... I'm a doctor (struck off of course ... but it still counts!). Best of luck.
Cheers for the comments. Still can't beleive how well we played and competed for the whole 90 mins. Nothing really needs to be said about Izale Mcleod, I just hope for your sake that the club punishes him. Also no real need for Youga to give us hand gestures but I'll let him off because he was crap anyway. Gave a lift to a charlton fan up to the ground from the pub, don't know if he goes on here but hope he had managed to catch the train home and my prediction of 6-0 to you didn't really happen lol. He also said that your midfield was going to be your best asset but Bailey was the only real midfielder to come out with any credit from the match.
Good luck for the rest of the season. Always look on the bright side ay, you're still 2nd!
If you can take one last deep breath before moving on, just thought you might be interested in the piece on Granada Reports tonight. You can fast forward to the relevant bit, which should come around 19 min 40. http://www.itv.com/granada/fullprogramme/
Haven't read through all the comments on here but just wanted to say well done to your players and fans. You thoroughly deserved the win and outplayed and out thought us. Nice ground loved ya bar and good to chat with you. Would rather attend your ground speak to your fans than visit the big clubs if I'm honest. Good luck in the next round.
This is all reminiscent of Woking & WBA many years ago.
Good Luck against Lincoln, and hope you get through to a big draw from the Prem, no complaints from me, your team were superb on the day, ours were a disgrace, barring Dailly & Sodje.
I'm really not trying to take the piss here - you guys have been great and are a credit to your club and don't deserve gloating at for one second.... but check this out:
[cite]Posted By: Boom[/cite]LCV - Like Charlton, I don't think Lincoln will be taking an away tie at NVFC as a given at all. Alll the best and that - but - Up the Chimps!!
The most gutting thing about the whole sorry affair is that we would've pulled your lot out in the next round Boom.
Mind you, probably just as well - you would be unbearable if your lot turned us over!
Your long throw tactic to the big guy. Do you do this regularly ?
I ask because some CAFC fans have commented that we should have been aware of this, by either having you watched or by asking Welling. Would it be reasonable to suppose Welling know your players ? Do you know theirs ? North and South divisions and all that.
There was only 1 game for you to scout us between the draw & the match - a 2-2 draw at Stafford.
We had our captain (Grand) in defence - replaced by Kerr (5) Our main striker played & scored (Danks) - replaced by Newby (9) Herring, the long throw man was rested, so you didn't see him in action. Bailey, the big guy, dropped a ricket for one of their goals.
Yes, we do use the long throw sometimes, but only as & when as most teams in our league have 2 massive defenders. Against you, we seemed to be playing for throw-ins.
We've not played Welling for ages, but we were in the same league ~15 years ago. One of their guys came on our board with a 'song request', so we obliged for the sake of N-L fraternity.......
If you like a laugh, I recommend clicking on the music vid posted by Northwich Tricker - it's spot on.
Condolences for your loss to Soton. But at least you scored a goal at last. Things are looking up. Surely you didn't want to win a paint pot and join the ranks of the likes of Luton? Look what happened to them ...
As said earlier on another thread, resting Herring for the match you scouted was a tactical master stroke from Andy Preece. Being an exiled fan I'd only seen him play for us once before this season (at Corby) and I had not been over-impressed, as all he seemed to have was the throw, but he's come on leaps and bounds in other areas.
BTW we scraped home 6-0 last night in our Cheshire Cup tie.
To be fair we hardly saw how Herring played as a defender - we put your defence under so little pressure that he may as well have played up-front all match.

We should do that again before the Lincoln match!
Ah.
Er.... do you think if we had a word, the 1.5 million people watching last Sunday might keep shtum?

be careful what you wish for! :-)
Get a grip.
may i suggest you get a sense of humour.
Vics Cup Song
God knows who knocked this up. It's bloody hilarious! Comedy gold!
We were dreading it FFS!
Reminds me of early Conflict.
