On his performances for us so far yes i agree with you. But you don't just become a bad player and 54 goals in 105 games suggests he's not a rubbish player. People are talking on other threads about signing players from league 2, well he was league 2's top scorer and player of the year only 3 seasons ago. His form was good enough to get an England under 21 cap as well.
His display at Northwich and the elbow was unforgivable, but i think he's a confidence player, needs an arm round him from Kinsella, words of encouragement from Parky and told to knuckle down and get a good pre season behind him.
We're unlikely to find the next Charlie Austin for 50k and a packet of Rolo's and we know Dickson and Fleetwood aren't good enough so why not give him a go. If he doesn't do as he's told then f*ck him off in January but give him a proper chance to see if he'll listen first.
It's all well and good having pace, but he doesn't have a football brain. From what I've seen he too often runs into dead ends and makes unintelligent runs. If he and Akpo made better decisions, they'd be a great partnership.

Bloody hell can't believe people have suddenly started thinking we should play McLeod, am I dreaming? lol. Well I've been saying all along that we've lacked pace in the side and apart from Burton would have rather had him upfront than any of other other strikers. Be interesting to see what Parky does with him in the summer.
Too weak mentally IMO, he's struggled with the pressure and expectation here. A player with a poor football brain and lack of a good touch, along with not handling that pressure is a terrible mix. Needs to be at a smaller club where he's the star and gets the freedom to make silly mistakes and give away the ball. Against a team defending deep, he won't be much use.
That said his contract is not up, if we can't find better and he's still here, we'll have to use him.
This is like Groundhog Day. We had all these discussions before he was given a run in the side (ditto Dickson) and I was as keen to see him given a run as anyone. Like the posts above I was hopeful that we would see the best of him as well. Unfortunately, even when he got a run in the side we didn't see the best of him and so that puts an end to these speculative conversations once and for all. He just doesn't have a brain.

But we are now a smaller club.
I mean a smaller club in League One, or a League Two side. The expectations are still going to be bigger than he can handle. He's not good enough for a team going for promotion from League One, would any of the top 6 have him in their side?
Maybe we'll only be aiming for mid table and he'll be ok, but as I said I'd rather go for someone no more talented, but more reliable and able to handle the pressure that bit more. If he does get a run and doesn't score for 4/5 games, he'll never recover and do it for us.
[cite]Posted By: fantastic11[/cite]Only had a season ticket for the last year so haven't seen alot of this guy. Just wanted to know why all the flack? He can't be a complete disaster...
I'm sure we made a mistake losing Dickson, I just wonder whether Mcleod could come good if we invested in him for a season?
Paid over £1m for him and not really any better than Dickson who cost something like £50k in the end.

We tried, really we tried. The man has a self-destruct button that he just cannot help but push. We will be lucky to even get him out of loan this season given how he's managed to piss off the managers of the last two clubs who have bothered with him.
I remember looking at videos of him on you tube when he first signed for us. He looked an excellent finisher on there, and you do not lose it that easily.I agree it must be a confidence issue, and a long run in team at the beginning of season if he is fit may well be the answer to one of our problems.
well we did try, and we tried a few times..... and he was garbage...
couldnt hit a barn door....
but you just never know...
we havnt got a lot of time, we cant, IMHO give him a long run in the team... I want tuna to be used and tried, Stav, Sure give him a go, I think Burton is a massive loss...
and obviouslt bailey going with hi goals and assists and Sam going with his 10 plus assists...
its gonna be tough....
but lets get some players in and signed and then go from there.......

The Youtube videos were in League Two though. Was probably far more confident, but he probably gets that little bit more space and time on the ball at that level.
You can see he looks confident in that, wouldn't have tried some of the touches he did there while playing for us. Some of the defending not great though.
[quote][cite]Posted By: BigRedEvil[/cite]I'm likely alone on this but if McLeod gets fully fit next year and is playing and starting from us we will get a few goals from him.
He's had quite a bad time with injuries over the past few seasons[/quote]
I thought that this time last season, but have given up on him, hope you are right
What if we tried rotating our younger strikers for the first 10 games of the season. Something unexpected might come about. This includes using Izale.
As far as next season is concerned, a quick fix of promotion and loan signings shouldn't be the aim. Experimentation is the way forward. It would also encourage the management team to be more creative and less rigid with their plans.

Agree with this view.
whether his fitness is there? also needs to try harder if given the chance

He would miss the door!

Unfortunately a Didier Drogba who doesn't know how to play football very well

You never know but I think we are very unlikely to play him or get rid of him... so he will continue to parasite of us......
