if he does sign then he wont be on high wages. powell knows the budget and wiill give wages accordingly, ifhe has a quick cb alongside it's a good bbuy.
Tell you what, the first 10 people who think he'll sign will be bought a pint by me personally if he does. but you have to buy me a pint if he dont. Any takers?
This is so not going to happen for so many reasons and i for one am glad.
Can't see it myself and hope not too. Doesn't fit the pattern of signing young, hungry players. Don't think we'd pay excessive wages either. Top wage is now around 3k pw and I wouldn't want us to bust that for one player, unless it's Messi or Fabregas.
so you aint gonna take me up on the Sol lager challenge then large? see what i done there? a lager with the same name? eh?............(looking for coat).
Hang on - why are there 100-odd posts about this? Someone should have just stepped in around post 2 or 3 and said (Acworth) and had the thread closed. I think we've suddenly had an influx of a lot of 14 year olds on the board - either that or Football Rumours is closed.
A no thanks to big Sol from me I'm afraid. As much as I'd love to see a big name like that in a Charlton shirt, for the stage we're at, we need players who have got a point to prove. Not washed up has-beens!
Had a great game against Chelsea at Newcastle last season. He could definatly play at league 1 level as long as he has the right attitude unlike the likes of JFH who was our previous financhal disaster that did nothing.
if we can sign him on a pay as you play contract i think he would be great at this level and he would really organise the defence with his experience. Guys like him read the game so well and if you could put a player in on a game when you are holding on to a lead then these sort of players generally are able to see these games out and could turn a few draws into wins.
Leon legge would be my first choice to sign, strong, good in the air and rarely gets out paced.
If not I'd take sol any day of the week, think a lot of you are forgetting he would bring some organisation to the team that we have lacked in the past few seasons. But high wages are my only concern with him.
and still at it... I think Hayes and JJ started it..... and JJ can't resist carrying on..... I personally think the only player coming in now would be Sclupp from Leicester or Howard (I wouldn't be suprised if Howard and Schlupp come in on loan in a weeks time). I wanted Cody Mcodonald but managers have their own opinions on players and a lot of clubs didn't fancy taking a punt on him. Benson staying at Charlton killed our hope of a perm striker.. neva mind I like Benno a lot and he will work hard
JJ starting stupid rumours ? Hardly the actions of a team captain on a day when football supporters across the country are waiting for news about possible signings for their club. Hope he's had a great day taking the piss out of the clubs supporters.
at the end of the day charltonbob they prob look at charlton life and see us copying their twitter messages and so they thought they would have a bit of a laugh.... JJ is obviously the joker in the pack.. i am happy we have such a good bunch of happy players, they obviously get on well and are strong candidates for promotion... no harm done
I thought that deal had gone through.. for what it is worth did sol campbell end up at stoke in the summer.. if he didnt sign there this may have legs.. Im not trusting JJ but it could be feasible he is having a medical you dont know I am taking it all with a pinch of salt.. chill guys onwards and upwards

been left out of Liverpool per-season tour so don't rule it out.
Didn't someone say we'd make a big Marque signing? I reckon you know Tango and this is your way of letting it slip.

I don't see anything humourous in our team captain winding us up (or lying as it used to be called!)
i think its refreshing and quite hillarious
bob chill your beans what on earth are youy getting so annoyed by it for
kanu was signing earlier for god sake
Oh for god sake. Get a grip and a sense of humour. Pretty pathetic actually.
