  • When did he and powell play together?.........apart from england
  •  I'm sure Jimenez was at Newcastle when Sol was there.
Sol was at NUFC last season.  Jiminez left a couple of years ago.

I think we already have Dailly as a senior pro to act as club captain/mentor and in the same position.

As the source is totally unreliable I wait until a more trustworthy media outlet, such as the Charlton OS, confirms it.
  • im sure theres plenty of nippers who would want his name printed on the back of their shirts, could bring in some revenue on shirt sales also would raise the profile of the club on and off the pitch, as smudge said the owners wouldnt risk all the good work they have done so far on giving him  a crazy contract, as said the guy was playing premiere league football last year!! if he wants to be part of the winds of change in SE7 and commit to the red shirt i cant see why so many are writting him off.
  • This might mean that Dailly has turned down a new deal and Campbell is the experienced replacement.

didnt some question if dailly was past it when we signed him? went on to be one of the best signings we had made in years. if his head is right and hes up for rochdale away on a cold wet night in december then bring him on. Is sky andrews powells agent too?
He wasn't too keen on Morecambe in September, so I don't know what the chances of him liking Rochdale on a cold wet night in December are.
  • I'd take Campbell at this level.

He could deal with League 1 strikers all day long imo.

  • Sorry but I love the idea. Best English defender of the last two decades.

Past his prime but still a massive boost for the club and a big draw.

Can't see Campbell having his face stuffed in the mud by some clueless L1 upstart.

  • hes not a 'thick' footballer i think he could see that there were major problems at notts county and wanted out before it all went tits up. The announcement about the club shop installing a rapid shirt printer for names would suggest to me that they are expecting an increse in shirt printing possibly due to a 'big name' signing, just reading between the lines and yes ido have way to much time on my hands today.
  • Perhaps he is doing a "SCP" and looking to move to a playing/coaching role?  At his age he must know time is almost up on playing.  And why not slot somewhere into an exciting new setup, just like the one we have.  Learning from some of the best in the business?
  • 36 years old. A no for me. Just don't like the man.
I didn't realise you knew him so well.

didnt sol play for newcastle!??? and was it then jiminez was at newcastle???
  • I don't think it will happen. The guy's a nutcase and perhaps not the best person to have in the dressing room with an inexperienced manager. As for age, this is league one! Will do a very good job in this division.
  • He'd be a good signing. We know his qualities and he'd be a commanding figure in the side. He'd really sure up the back. Would be very happy with this.
  • mind you lads he didnt fancy it at notts county did he!!! ;-)
  • Didn't want to start another thread for this but my mate from Leeds reckons: Patrick Kisnorbo (CB) is in talks with us.

Good job we are playing Rochdale on a Saturday in September then.
  • Now Kisnorbo would be a very good signing, last season we were heavily linked with him
  • Someone is taking the piss right?

He seems to be one of lifes whingers to me. Just my opinion.

  • I think we'll sign Morrison, Campbell, Kisnorbo and then they'll all jet off to Spain happy as Larry together.
  • Got to go with my first instinct, and that is - I hate it (if true).
  • I can't understand what people have against him.  He's always been a high quality player and, at 36, I think he'd still be class in this league.

It's also on Football Rumours site, so it may not be true then?!! Though mate in Leeds told me about Frazer Richardson before it was common knowledge.

I wonder if Kisnorbo (pre Leeds) was at Leicester with Powell.
  • Still need someone with pace alongside.  No doubts in my mind he can do a great job but a player of the style of Mackail-Smith would cause all sorts of problems.
  • He was on SSN when the fixtures came out and was very strange. Answering questions with one word and just really hardwork.

I don't think many are doubting his footballing capabilities. It's the fact he has a few screws loose upstairs that worries me.

Can't see this happening myself , but would be pleased if it did. If not Kisnorbo fits the bill (if fit ) or what about Fitz Hall or Danny Shittu at QPR.

At this peak I think he was the best English central defender over the last fifteen years . I remember him being outstanding at Spurs and nearly as good at Arsenal .

I can't see us resigning Dailly if this comes off and maybe DVDDD's theory about the Doc may also be true.

I think one of the reasons Dailly impressed is because he never played at this level before apart from the Morecambe debacle with Notts Countythis is also true of Sol . I think even at 37 Sol would be a class above vitually any player in this league .

This is the difference with the likes of Barnes and JFH , they tried to still play in the Prem although to be fair to Barnes he still rolled the clock back at Upton Park and controlled the midfield in a vital win there although he almost needed a stretcher to leave the pitch. In his sub appearances he also oused class.

As an aside it is ten years to the day that he signed for Arsenal from Spurs 10 years ago today. Maybe that's an omen.

  • Is he  as we suspect he is? i know he's a lump but at one time they had him down as the 3rd fastest player in the prem behind Michael Owen and Marc Overmars.

yeah i still have the same look of disbelief

  • My cousin's sister in law (yeah yeah I know, tedious link) was his housekeeper while he was at Portsmouth.
Said the bloke's a freak. Deffo has a screw loose.
I'd have him though if he can still do a job.
