yep but if you're not rose tinted, talking about relegation being good and that murray can do no wrong then you're not loyal or a pessimist when in fact you're a realist ...
it's so depressing
let's all laugh at newcastle/soton/palace/who f**king ever (YOU WEIRDOS) when the biggest joke club is us at this moment in time FACT
Having read through some of the comments, I should correct one thing. Rick suggests that Peter Varney is my 'source' and that view appears to have been accepted as fact by others.
Just to confirm (because to say nothing makes it look as if I agree) Peter Varney is not my source. There are a number of people I spoke to, but Peter was unable to discuss the matter, on or off the record.
I've not been asked to put this up, before people smell conspiracy where none exist, but I wanted to put the matter straight.

make you right plenty of people in the past said things and got shot down on here
On friday it was posted on here by several people that they were expecting an announcement of some sort on monday. Is that still the expectation or has that now been overtaken by events ? Anyone have a clue ?

Get the smugness on that post
Came across to me as a mixture of bewilderment and disappointment from a long term fan rather than smugness.
Just wanted to add, fair play to Mick Collins for coming on here to put the record straight on a few points. Well done.
For that reason, should this thread be made Members Only? Wouldn't want some scumbag hack coming on here and sensationalising half-stories based on what people know/think they know or don't know on here. Just a thought.

So worst case is we lose the few decent players we have and get docked 10 points?? After that the new lot come in and we start again?? If that's what has to happen i just hope it happens soon as Southampton are already past the messy stage and starting to rebuild. Whatever happens has to happen quickly.

Isn't worse case going into administration and not being able to find a buyer?
Its just so hard to believe how far we have fallen in the last couple of seasons, very sad. After all the hype/rumour of a takeover and the hope that it could bring we now find out it is going in the opposite direction. Very worrying times indeed.

I think we have a buyer they are maybe just sensing the possibility of a much better deal for themselves. If this is the case i don't think they would arrive to the same reception that was given to Liebherr at Southampton. Then again, let's hope this is all a load of bollocks and we're about to be taken over and all will be well with the world!
Were Zabeel just being polite in the way they withdrew from their takeover or did perhaps a close inspection of the books scare them off ? Certainly seems to me that the current board have been perhaps less than open.

Len, I might be more inclined to agree with you, if said fan hadn't been going on and on about it every time the subject came up, as well as shoe-horning it into conversation on quite a few occasions when it didn't. I'd say "smug" was pretty much spot on.

At the time,i seem to remember Zabeel saying there was nothing untoward found in the DD procedure. Either their guys missed something pretty major and very well hidden or they were telling porkies about why they pulled out. IF they were telling the truth and nothing was found then wtf has happened?? Doubt us mere mortals will ever find out, after all,we are only fans...
Despite the horrendous last three seasons we have endured and all of the associated mess I have never once had anything other than respect for Richard Murray. I was convinced he was a Charlton hero and more than anything else I thought he always played a straight bat. The comments made by Mick Collins for which we are all I`m sure grateful have shaken my faith in RM to the core. I hope that when all the dust settles and the mop flops wherever it will, it transpires that he is not the root of our problems. This is just all so depressing.

The amount of debt that Zabeel saw in the books last October may well have been similar to now. The big difference was that we were a division higher and had a chance of being promoted to the Prem 7 months later. We were a far better prospect then, so the price/value (debt included) would've been significantly different.
What a dreadful thread to read. Nothing we can do about at the month except work ourselves up. Best turn off the pc and take yourselves out for the day.

Good point. We are now two steps from "the promised land" rather than one.

Thanks for your input, sad and unpalatable though the information you convey is.
I don't think I have been this despondant about our club as the dark days on the mid eighties.

Good point Offy
I thought there was about ten people on the board?
Still i suppose if you line them up in a row it could be done. ;-)
I'm not just a pretty face Len!

Surely it is something they will have to respond to ?
