Further back: Paul Walsh. Met him on one of the open days in the early 80s and he came across as an arrogant little git turning down autographs etc. His attitude towards us in the media ever since has done nothing to change that opinion.
Talented player I accept: I remember a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge where we were battered for the whole match but came away with a draw because of two pieces of Walsh magic.
Was in the same school as him, he was an arrogant twerp then. So Len, I have to agree - Walsh for being a spoilt little pratt.
Peter Shaw, never seemed like a pro footballer to me...but he did improve a bit. Barry Endean, never did improve. Andy jones. Didn't hate him but what a poor buy. lennie didn't get many wrong but Jones, Mclaughlan and Tiler probably caused us to go down. Jeffers Marcus Bent, sighs...
[cite]Posted By: Les Addicks[/cite]"Never took to Don Macallister - couldn't forgive him for breaking Mark Penfold's leg, which ended a very promising career."
That happened right in front of me as a young kid Weggie. First time I'd ever heard a bone breaking and still gives me the shivers thinking about it now.
I too was in the West Stand too that day and it was truly awful. Played cricket against Mark and his son 7 or 8 years ago but it didn't seem the right forum to bring that day up despite the fact that his boy was trying to bounce me out!

I was in the same year as him, was in my house footie team and won games single handed so he is ok in my book!
Rommedahl for saying he did not want to play in the Championship, twat never bothered in the Prem.........
I always had big arguments with my brother over Laurie Madden, he loved him, sadly I thought he was useless.
Mike Small should get and honourable mention.... but I am sticking with the Rommedahl
[cite]Posted By: Off_it[/cite]Marcus Bent - the epitomy of where our club went wrong, paying through the nose for a lazy talentless billy big bollox c*nt.
Kevin Smith - one of the worst players to ever wear the shirt. He thought he was brilliant with that stupid Keegan perm. Funnily enough he ended up playing over here in the MISL (Major Indoor Soccer League)
Lawrie Madden was crap as well.
Paul Walsh - was a brilliant player but his attitude towards us nowadays makes me hate him
Pitcher- Need i say more Marcus Bent- (A) grade arsehole Hasselfat- Total waste of time Rommedahl- Ditto Danny Murphy- Decent player fused with being a total arrogant F@@kwit (bad combination). Nice BIG club with fantastic support you are playing for now Dan!
[cite]Posted By: vancouveraddick[/cite]Pitcher for obvious reasons
Anthony Barness for personal reasons (almost having a tear up wth him in the Venue where he was wankered)
Ha! That tear-up with Barney could have been any weekend from around 1989-2001, he was wankered in The Venue pretty much every weekend during that period.
He couldn't half pull a bird though!!!
I am pretty sure you would have come out on top of any fisticuffs, Barney is a mate of mine but he is certainly not exactly a fearsome fighter!!!
Whats the deal with Pitcher chaps? have I missed an email or two???
For me I never liked Piggybaink or Lazy Bent - but all time for me goes to Kelly Youga. I honestly cannot stand him and its nothing to do with the fact that he looks like Coco the Clown.
[cite]Posted By: Stone[/cite]Salako and Tiler are the best shouts I've seen so far.
Current candidate is Semedo, Hope he goes in the summer.
Neither had their best days for us, but didn't do anything shitty a la Pitcher, Defoe or Murphy. Salako is always very positive about when he's on Sky. Your views on Semedo are just plain mental, so I'm not going to attempt to debate the point.

Yep, someone looking for an argument I think...
Salako put in some good performances and Tiler was a limited player but an honest trier.
If they are the worst two players then someone has missed an awful lot of football recently.

You sure you're not thinking of his brother Neil? He used to live a couple of doors along from my nan, and his mates were mates with a load of mine - Neil was there near enough every week (as, sadly, was I), but I don't remember seeing Barney in the Venue that often

You should really read the title of the thread before making a fool of yourself. It doesn't mention ability anywhere, it merely asks for you least favorite players.

Worked with Neil until a couple of months ago - he looks nothing like his brother so cant have been mistaken for him surely. And as for a pulling machine !!!!

.......
Not a scientific poll, for sure , but on a quick run through the 80 odd contributions here, I'd say Marcus Bent probably gets more mentions than anyone else ...
And to think that he scored on debut - and at Stamford Bridge of all places. Says it all when the highlight of his Charlton career came in his first match. Down hill all the way after that ...

I'm sure it was Barness but I was obviously hammered as well - Who knows - Oh well he's probably a nice geezer as some of you lot know him and to be honest I'm sure I would have forgotten all about it if he wasn't a CAFC player.

Eamon Dunphy: never took to him but enjoyed the book

Agreed 100%, nobody else comes close.
Same as what I thought, as soon as I saw the title of this discussion

If only aimlessly running about and waving your arms around like a windmill won games.......

If he plays at the Brum game he's bound to get some stick, so I sincerely hope that won't be the one where we go down...!!
