[cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]wouldn't want anything else to upset them would we poor little loves.
LOL.....yep, so when Barnsley & Bristol City turn us over at home in the next couple of weeks they can all blame the ongoing due dilligence, its an excuse made in heaven for them (I for one wouldnt be surprised)
It is always used a bit of boardroom upheaval and they hide behind it
Readily admit I was one of the 'slit wrist' brigade' earlier this morning...not that I always believe everything that I read guys, I'm not that daft....in fact far from it but I do come from a generation that normally accepted stuff written in the quality broadsheets as at least having some degree of valid substance to it.
If this had have appeared in any of the tabloids I'd have been highly scepticle but because it was The Guardian I thought there'd be something in it......so yes I've learned a lesson today and i'm very very dissapointed in that poxy journalist and The Guardian.
as I mentioned earlier, the article and headline just dont match, lazy (or axe to grind) journalism at its worst.
poor hamsters, sounds like wishful thinking on their part, hopefully we will not look down on them too much in future and might even think to loan them a few players in years to come or play a patronising pre season with our Youth team when they are in the essex Senior League as AFC West Ham United.
Apologies for putting that statement up - I found it at about 5am UK time & just posted it up there in the hope that someone would know what it meant!! It preceded the West Ham story on Newsnow.
"Zabeel have insisted they are committed to buying the Championship Club" - doesn't quite seem to say that in their statement, but hopefully that is the sentiment expressed in their denial re WHU.
No probs Oakster. Phew, what a rush! Now I know why I don't do extreme sports... Would I be right in saying we have learnt that the price is DEFINITELY £32m?
Zabeel Investments, the Dubai sovereign-wealth fund which has lodged an "indicative bid" for Charlton Athletic, is pressing ahead with its 30 days' due diligence in the hope of closing the deal.
It insists there has been no contact with West Ham United, begging the question of who from Dubai made the discreet approach to the Upton Park club.
Contact was made on Monday but, with all roads in that emirate leading to the royal family, if Zabeel takes control of Charlton any serious bid for West Ham would present a stiff test to the Premier League's ownership rules.
Those state that anyone who "either directly or indirectly" is involved in or has any influence over another Football League club will be "disqualified from acting as a director".
Saw on the news last night that Wet Spam are £142 million in debt, add to that any purchase price (Egghead paid £85million) and your looking at over £200million to buy west ham. On top of that you have an out of control wage bill and potential damages to Shef Utd of £30 - £50million, and thats without considering the fact the shef utd players may get the green light to individually sue for loss of earnings yet. So you could be talking anything up to £300million be needed.
Compare that to £50million to buy charlton, no potential lawsuits or massive outlays on the horizon.
So with wet spam you get premiership status right now, with us you get it in 1-2 years with the correct investment. If you're investing long term then that 1-2 years makes no difference and if you spend the £200+ million difference in the prices building the club structure and playing staff correctly you have a far more solid base to push on to actually have a chance of european and domestic cup success.
I was hoping to send a tirade of expletives about his family direct to his inbox....
But if he wants to keep spouting rubbish, I have just reread the statement from Zabeel and its water tight.... this fella deserves everything hes gonna get...

Good end paragraph, I totally agree.
Bromley meeting tonight postponed, so Zabeel haven't pulled out of the deal, at least not at the moment.
Any idea where those quotes denying the West Ham stuff came from? They're everywhere now.
