    Leggings!

Rarely, if ever, have I seen anyone looking good in them, even those who might consider their body honed and inevitably they’re worn by people who really shouldn’t, particularly men!

    Way too much information.

Is this the four-man cox event?

apart from the fact that the tight trousers rowers wear are frequently called leggings.

It's always the underfunding, never the inefficiency...

sometimes the answer isn't throw more money, but get better at it.

Maybe underfunding and inefficiency are the same same thing?

No beds available simply because a hospital is "inefficient" and takes 24 hours to discharge a well patient.

Why does it take so long?

Well the pharmacy is understaffed and take twelve hours to dispense the drugs. Once the drugs come there is no nurse available to actual implement the discharge because they are all dealing with sick patients. So a desperately bed is wasted for the night.

    Just happened to me!

24 hours is low for that. If someone is well enough to leave a hospital but requires social care it can take up to 8 weeks to get them into the desperately struggling social care system and they can't be discharged until they get their place.

last time I was in Hospital (October last year in Lewisham) I got bounced down to the pharmacy and just had to wait it out down there having already been discharged

The feral yoof on a bike that snatched my phone off me this morning up Tottenham Court Road. I "sprinted" after him and I got it back, he either dropped it or thought it not worthy of his efforts and road off into the distance with me running after him. I like to think he shit himself at the sight of a 15 stone, shaven headed 59 year old in the mood for vengeance running like the wind but the reality was probably very different.
Anyway no harm done he and  I got a bit of cardio done and Ive still got my iphone.

Have mentioned it a few times on here. I see them on a daily basis riding up on people and swiping phones. Little cnuts. Have a look around though and you see everyone with their phones out. They could go home with 100 by the end of the day.

Trying to see a doctor, ridiculous the rigmarole you have to go through to actually see someone at our surgery, rung down for an appointment at 8:30 surgery opens a 8, want to see the doctor who prescribed some medicine, won’t go into details, but I had to fill in an E form to see him. This form took 22 minutes to fill in, it asked the same question on 5 different occasions what was the symptoms, what prescription was prescribed and who and when did I see him. Filled it all in and eventually got to the end when the automated reply comes through that you need an appointment and someone will be in touch by 6:30 tomorrow night. Very frustrating when you are feeling unwell and worried, I suppose I could have gone to a walk-in clinic but didn’t see the point as my doctor had already seen me and said if I had further problems let him know.

I suppose I’m more irritated by not being able to get pass the phone receptionist, because how many oldies even have internet or the skills to fill around 30 pages of repetitive questions, mind you feel sorry for whoever has to read my answers, it was long.

    Feel better for my rant
Exactly the same at my surgery.
Usually get to the end and it says we can't help you.
So you go back in and change your answers (lie) in order to get an appointment.
    It's beyond pathetic.

Strange how it varies so much in different areas. I can call my doctors, give a brief description of the problem following which I either get an appointment or a call from the doctor. Simples, all done in 5 minutes

Wish it was that easy round my way … virtually impossible to get an appointment

If you have a London postcode you can get the babylon app and sign up to the virtual GP there. I can (and have) got appointments at very short notice with a range of specialists who have a quick online consultation and either prescribe you something straight away or give you an in person appointment at any one of a huge number of locations across London. Its excellent.

Do you have access to the askFIRST app?  I booked a non urgent appointment via this and it wasn't too bad - with the help of Youtube.

No Raith, never heard of it. I particularly wanted to speak to my doctor who looked after me and my family for well over 30 years and had only seen me late January re a very similar problem, so I went down the E form route which appear to be read by someone at the my surgery, the good thing was it came back that someone will contact me before 6:30 tonight. It was the attitude of the receptionist that got to me, even told her my doctor at the last consultation that I was to ring for an appointment if I had a reoccurrence, she didn’t ask my name or what my problem was, all she wanted was for me to fill in this form and let the computer say yes or no, luckily it said yes.

Probably unusually I was born in early 1950’s and only been treated by 3 doctors in 70 years all at the same practice as well. I know that the health service is under pressure and I understand the reasons why.

Feel your pain CK.  My surgery must've been one of the first to turn to econsult.  They sold it to their patients as a wonderful thing for the benefit of the user.  Now you have to wait an age before you can see/hear from anyone, whereas before they had a walk in and wait surgery which was immediate and better imo.

My daughter has two kids aged 7 and 5 and she invariably has to take them to emergency care to get them seen promptly.

Im an end of terrace, and my end chimney and wind wall has had to be pulled down, and rebuilt after the render was taken away, and showed a lot more damage to the brickwork than was suspected

Scaffolding has been up since the end of November, couldn't get the wall repaired during winter because of the cold conditions... e.g the lime mortar wont set

Its meant there has had to be a delay until the Spring, and now it won't stop pissing raining meaning its taking longer to get everything done.

The scaffold is unfortunately taking up part of my neighbours drive (they have the choice of having it up, or the risk of our wall falling on them)... Which is understandably leaving both of us a bit irrate at the moment... If it could stop raining for just a couple of f**king weeks, we can stop being an inconvenience to everyone... But nooo... The weather doesn't want to fucking cooperate does it!!

As a footnote, it doesn't bother me because I dont have real grass in the garden - But bet this rain sticks around until the Summer, and we'll still have hosepipe bans!!
