Got my email. I will start running again next week after a 7 day rest after last weeks 10k.
I think it would be a good idea if we could get a group run together at some point in the next few weeks as a bit of motivation, for those of you based out kent way, shorne country park is a good venue. off road, but easy to do a variety of laps for those on different training schedules. i think one full lap is about 2 1/2 miles.
Latest T.C.E fitness update........ after a week including my longest ever road run, tuesday nights 5 and a bit mile was a little daunting knowing that I had somehow injured my leg, this was completed including the run back up the hill which appears seems to get less of a killer each time its completed although its no way easy, wednesday afternoon I was playing 18 holes on Shootershill, thursday was rest day!! although normally I would do the same run as tuesday I was playing golf again friday. Friday 27 holes of gentle exercise ( BFR as a "50 something" I have to take easy these days ;-)) today if I can get away with it will be another rest day, while for tomorrow I have mapped a 13.5 mile run at which I will attempt at silly oclock in the morning, who knows if I`ll complete it.........................anyone out at that time is welcome to join me or I`ll join them, but one things for sure I`m certainly getting fitter, normally after a Golf Society meet up I cant walk the following day let alone take the good lady shopping, or maybe thats just the alcohol ;-)
I`ll let you know how I get on tomorrow.
Sunday update, FAILED miserably!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I pulled up some 4 and bit miles short of my 13.5 mile target, started to suffer at blackwall lane with a pain in the top of the groin area, managed to get to John Wilson street before pulling up in agony, I hobbled some mile and bit home only to find I was suffering with a bout of the Paula Ratcliffe`s!!! alls well now ;-) but I`d never felt a pain like that before, and now I`m even more disappointed I didnt finish.
you did the right thing by stopping, if the pain has eased off now i would imagine it is nothing serious, if you send me a whisper with your email address i will dig out some stretches for you.
if it carries on i would advise seeing a physio sooner rather than later.

Alls well now Kigelia ;-) I ate very late last night!!! But I wont in future that was painful, I have whispered my email address as any help would be appreciated.
Keep it up T.C.E. Much more of an effort than for Pardews Porkers last year Didn't enter for the half marathon myself (for obvious reasons) but would like to sponsor you in this event. D.
After not being able to run for nearly three months due to sciatica I have at long last got out again. I have managed two walk/runs of 40 mins this week aerobically fine but the legs are leaden. My aim is to be back on the Pitsford reservoir run of 6.5mile on the 5th July then off on a two week cruise so will get running every day. Mid Sept aim to do two laps of Pitsford then keep up with a couple of 6 milers each week until the big day.
Having done several 10 mile runs I have found that so long as you can do 75% of the distance in training it is likely that you can do the full length when the time comes. Also it is suggested not to do eg 13mile in the last week or two before the race.
Good luck everyone with the training and keep going

Wow, thanks Gaffer!! but one thing are you questioning my fitness last year ;-)
as for the sponsorship thanks again, at the moment I`m secret talks with AGE CONCERN with regard to a sponsorship deal, but your my first :-)

Are you saying I shouldn`t run the full 13 miles and that 10 would be sufficent until the run, sorry if I`ve got this wrong ;-( it wouldn`t be the first time that happened, I think I`m still on a written warning from last week;-(
there is no issue running the whole distance during training, I would recommend you work up to it gradually. 10 miles would be fine if you were just looking to get round.
the stuff about easing two two weeks before is valid and I would aim for your longest run to be three weeks before and then gradually taper things off before the run itself.

You cant give up Suzzzzzzzzz, we will organise a group run to boost morale. I am struggling but have tried to do different runs, (parks, woods etc) to make it more fun. A good run is around Scadbury park (chislehurstish) through woods and fields, its only about 2 - 2 and 1/2 miles around. (mind you, probably wouldn't reccomend for a women on her own, need a partner)
thing is, I HATE running. I dunno why i joined in the first place. I admire all runners, I watched the marathon and was inspired to try harder, but I just can't do it. I can go to the gym, i can sit on the bike cycle for ages, i can swim for hours, I just cannot run. I've tried, I did a 5k, but hated it, and i trained for that. I could do it if I knew i could walk it and not let the side down or be on my own, but I don't want to do that! can I cycle along the side of you shouting encouragement instead?
Once we know the actual route we will do a walk of it hopefully.
In the meantime I will look to organise a get together maybe in Greenwich and/or Charlton before the season starts (i.e. in July).
I will start a seperate thread on this later in the week to get people's views.
Obviously it will be open to all run to the beat runners as well as anyone else who is interested in giving morale support or just wants to have a little training session.
Will try and get kigelia there as he seems the man in the know and i'm pretty sure Ketman will run all the way from Medway to where we have a run.

Your kidding me! the speed I`ve been running I`m a certainty to get knocked down by the rush hour traffic on the MONDAY morning.
Just over 8 miles in 66 minutes last night with my mother coming along to watch on her bike just to see the torture you go through. Training Distance run since I started on 4th March has just passed 251 miles. Expect that to be doubled before October 5th which is the equivalent of running from the Bourne to Blackpool.

i did another 3 miles last night, a struggle but will get there. still with that distance for the moment.
i wish the webiste would publish the proper route tho, or just where marker 4 is and above, so can work out the route properly.
will try posting this again see if it works.

I don't see how sitting in the pub is going to help ;-)
