Coventry City [A] Tickets to go on restricted sale

Isn't that block used for segregation? I've seen photos of their away end where most of that block has netting across it.AFKABartram said:Coventry still haven’t put Block 9 on sale to home fans. so always the chance they might give more still.
Bar a couple of hundred in the opposite end, the rest of the stadium is a near sell out with just singles dotted around.

If we were top of the league and selling out we would absolutely have fans calling for us to split the JS.letthegoodtimesroll said:
That call for splitting the JS was because Wycombe couldn’t sell their tickets and basically given we’d just beaten them on their ground twice within a few weeks was never likely to give them much in the way of encouragement to come to the Valley anyway as their firm had already dropped off once we turned them over 4-0 in the league gameMartinCAFC said:
Even if they were charging £37 for an adult ticket, would we have sold it out? Possible but no guarantees and as AFKA says demand is now seeing Coventry sell home games out. Similar to the Wycombe play off game when we all wanted half of the JSS.panther10 said:
We would have easily have sold an extra 700 ,800LargeAddick said:
Maybe not and I understand the EFL rules BUT why do they give an extra 800 tickets to some clubs and not others? I can understand it if we’d taken weeks to sell out and so they think we’d struggle to sell the rest but we sold out in the space of three days so the demand is there. I’m going to assume here that Charlton were told you can have the extra 700/800 but you have to pay for them up front and the Club were not confident we’d sell them and didn’t want to take a potential hit.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
What would be the point?LargeAddick said:
Something CAST need to take up with the Club as to why? Or the Fan Advocates? I'm assuming Coventry will cite increased demand from home supporters whom I assume are desperate to see the mighty Charlton Athletic in action too.AFKABartram said:Disappointing, we sell our 2k in just 2 days. Looks like they’re wanting Block 9 for home fans.
As per league rules, Coventry only have to give us 2k. As much as an extra 127 is stupid and in a block we'd already sold, they're actually technically giving us more tickets than they have to. Not sure CAST or the club can do much here.
Frustrating but understandable situation.
Coventry have given us what is required by the league and would rather fill the additional seats with their own fans. The amount of people moaning about this is embarrassing13 -
What do people expect Coventry to do? They have massive demand from their own supporters, the city is absolutely buzzing at the moment, and they are flying. As Croydon said, we would do exactly the same given the opportunity5

That Coventry give other clubs the additional 700 or so tickets is not disputed, it’s fact. In which case why shouldn’t Charlton have the same allocation ? It’s embarrassing that some fans are so willing to capitulate so quickly and are saying it’s OK that we are not being given the full designated away section. I’ve not been to this ground before but the way it’s shown on the map with the thicker lines, as per other groups of blocks around the ground, tends to suggest to me that those areas have been built to be self-contained and mixing the two sets of fans might not necessarily be so simple,Rothko said:What do people expect Coventry to do? We are being given what Coventry need to give us, I just don't have the sense of entitlement to the optional tickets, we don't have a call on them, and they aren't obliged to give us the seats.letthegoodtimesroll said:

They have a section for away fans that holds 2.8k. That says to me that what is ‘optional’ about that is how many tickets the away team, in this case Charlton, take. Same when they come to The Valley. We have an away section that holds 3.1k and the away team can ‘opt’ / bring as many fans up to that limit that they want.Rothko said:

"Each Club must make provision for at least 2,000 visiting supporters at every home match or such number as represents 10% of the Club’s certified capacity, if less than 2,000."
Any available seats in the stadium above 2,000 - which they choose to give the away fans, or choose to sell to their own fans, or choose to leave empty just cos they fancy it - is "optional".
It's annoying, but our away end could /would be divided if we needed it to so we could have 1,000 extra seats with away allocation reduced to the minimum 2,000.

There are 3,400 seats in the Jimmy Seed Stand although we tend to hold a few back for operational reasons. The difference between Coventry and The Valley is that the former will have been designed for flexibility, while the configuration at Charlton allows it but is problematic (toilets, refreshments are not adequate on the west side for a two thirds split).paulsturgess said:letthegoodtimesroll said:

We have so rarely segregated the JS Stand in the last decade and had so many different senior personnel that the club management has no understanding of the issue now. This is why it took so long for Wycombe segregation to be confirmed earlier this year and it was entirely thanks to Mick Everett who had done the work behind the scenes without being asked or consulted that it happened in the end.Sadly, Mick is now away dealing with his serious health issues, so we have to hope they have learned something from that experience, but it’s never as simple as 2,000 / 1,000 split as there are all sorts of other considerations, including segregation costs.
In reality, Charlton would never do it just to make a point to the opposition. It would only ever be because the rest of the ground was sold out, and only then if the police agreed.4 -
The majority of comments are just people that are disappointed that we haven't got the same allocation as another team the week before.Croydon said:If we were top of the league and selling out we would absolutely have fans calling for us to split the JS.

I think you're a bit easily embarrassed.0 -
Just to say I ordered at 11am yesterday and tickets had been posted through my letterbox by the time I got home from work today. Fantastic service6

Loved that game...They were singing can we play you every week when they went 2-0 up after 20 or so mins. Then when Hunt scored the winner in 88 we gave that song back to them...Course they didnt like it.Covered End said:
We got chased on the way back to the station in 99/00 the cup game.DOUCHER said:
Agreed - brought the end to a long run of home and ways when we lost 3-0 in 87 I think it was - 3 of us getting chased all the way back to the station just capped off a catalogue of pain that day - went in 99 I think it was in the cup - a much better day all roundElfsborgAddick said:

expensive .. but still s r o0

We DEFINITELY won’t be getting any more. Cov put half that empty block on sale to home fans this morning. With the rest retained for stewarding.Apparently I’ve read an official confirmed last night at a supporters club event that away allocation now will only be a max 2150 for rest of season
5 -
Don't blame them, they've been pushing the club to reduce the away allocation so more Cov fans get in2

When they plummet down the table they’ll be increasing it again.1

Of course they will, that’s natural.LargeAddick said:When they plummet down the table they’ll be increasing it again.I don’t get why some are being aggy towards them. They’ve a 31k stadium and they are consistently selling out their home sections.4 -
Because we have some of the mingiest blinkered hypocritical fans the football world has ever seenAFKABartram said:I don’t get why some are being aggy towards them.3
