Disappointing, we sell our 2k in just 2 days. Looks like they’re wanting Block 9 for home fans.
Something CAST need to take up with the Club as to why? Or the Fan Advocates? I'm assuming Coventry will cite increased demand from home supporters whom I assume are desperate to see the mighty Charlton Athletic in action too.
    What would be the point?

As per league rules, Coventry only have to give us 2k. As much as an extra 127 is stupid and in a block we'd already sold, they're actually technically giving us more tickets than they have to. Not sure CAST or the club can do much here.
Maybe not and I understand the EFL rules BUT why do they give an extra 800 tickets to some clubs and not others? I can understand it if we’d taken weeks to sell out and so they think we’d struggle to sell the rest but we sold out in the space of three days so the demand is there. I’m going to assume here that Charlton were told you can have the extra 700/800 but you have to pay for them up front and the Club were not confident we’d sell them and didn’t want to take a potential hit.
Because they are flying top of the league and seeing more demand for home tickets now than they were 2 months ago.

I’m likely to miss out but I’ve no complaints. When we do well we all screen to split the Jimmy Seed to get more home fans in.

We would have easily have sold an extra 700 ,800

Even if they were charging £37 for an adult ticket, would we have sold it out? Possible but no guarantees and as AFKA says demand is now seeing Coventry sell home games out. Similar to the Wycombe play off game when we all wanted half of the JSS.

    Frustrating but understandable situation.

127 is a pisstake. Can we for once reciprocate the gesture and only give these clubs the number of tickets they gave us.
    Why?

That call for splitting the JS was because Wycombe couldn’t sell their tickets and basically given we’d just beaten them on their ground twice within a few weeks was never likely to give them much in the way of  encouragement to come to the Valley anyway as their firm had already dropped off once we turned them over 4-0 in the league game

That's optimistic, I'm not sure we have that many fans globally.

We sold 2k in 3 days and it probably only took that long because of the way they were released to fans in stages and they don’t think they’d sell another 800 on general sale in just over 2 weeks ?

"The extra tickets, which are located towards the front of block 8"

Given that we'd already been given, and sold out tickets for block 8 in the original allocation it does beg the question of why the fuck weren't the 127 just included in the original allocation?
They started from Row F in Block 8, so make of that whay you will.
So people bought tickets in Row F, thinking it was the front row. I can see issues...

Yeah, me! From the diagram it looks like it's above the wheelchair area, but who actually knows.

  • I think row F is about half way up the block furthest right.

I doubt it will be a problem. If I am one of the 127 that manages to get one of the extra tickets when they go on sale then I will have no problem whatsoever if somebody who bought in Row F thinking it was the first row simply moves forward to sit in the actual front row when they get into the ground, which will probably be a lot sooner than when I leave the pub. I suspect many of the others buying at this stage will think likewise.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but West Brom go to Coventry on 22nd, and they have been given 2,815!! So frustrating!
That is odd ! You’d have thought that West Brom is a bigger game for them as another midlands team. Therefore the demand surely higher from home fans? Also, why weren’t those extra 127 in the initial allocation, as could never have been sold to anyone but away fans. Maybe the suggestion we didn’t want to commit financially to the extra 800 could be true?

Maybe Nathan should have a word with them about buying into what he is trying to achieve…

My point wasn't about the Wycombe game it was just a reference point. You missed the whole point I made which was if they charged us £37 as they have other teams who got a bigger allocation there's no guarantee we would have sold them all. They obviously believe they can sell the extra 7-800 themselves.

I don't know if every other team getting charged £32 got the extra 7-800 it might just be to there gold category games or whatever there equivalent is. Someone mentioned WBA - that's very likely gold and why they got a full allocation because Coventry would know WBA would sell the lot and at £37 each too.

I doubt the club have told Coventry to just give us the 2,000 min as the club put in an extra allocation request. I don't know how they allocate tickets, maybe our allocation is all teams will get in future if Coventry are selling out at home now. Maybe they'll give us more in future if we get upgraded to a gold category game but they might charge us £37 and then we may not sell it all out which then puts us in the position of the Wycombe game where the home club wants the unsold seats back.

Not saying I agree with this or say it's right, it's frustrating but understandable too.

That seems weird, not that I expect them to shift 2,500 for a Tuesday night game in London, but why not the full allocation if needed?

Based on the assumption boro wouldn’t sellout the full JS on a Tuesday night, restricting the allocation would reduce any, potentially unnecessary, overheads.

If the demand from boro is there, imagine pretty easy to open up remaining 700

I think row F is about half way up the block furthest right.

A horrible walk to and from the station.
Agreed - brought the end to a long run of home and ways when we lost 3-0 in 87 I think it was - 3 of us getting chased all the way back to the station just capped off a catalogue of pain that day - went in 99 I think it was in the cup - a much better day all round
  • My view on this allocation is that Coventry are running scared....

Our away fans are becoming well known for the noise they make in supporting our team - non stop throughout the 90+ minutes .

    Less fans, less noise ?

Let's make sure we show them that numbers don't matter.

    Loud & proud.

The cup game was January 2000.  I remember it vivdly as the place I was working at the time only worked one Saturday a year, it was always the last one in January.  If you did not roll in you were out of a job.
    I was very p***** off.
Being run for two miles proves my belief that the one being chased never gets caught as they have more to lose!
