Based on their strategy since the Play Off win, they would need to do a significant u turn in their thinking not to have higher prices than some people are expecting to pay

27,000 x £20-25 = £650k gate receipts and the spin off benefits of a full stadium on tv and other sales etc etc

If they start trying to charge 35 or something for the sake of an extra £150k gate receipts they would end up shooting themselves in the foot

VS Coalville it was a tenner

I expect it to be £20, maybe even £25

Will season ticket holders get a chance to our normal seats?
They always have - so it's yes.
    Thank you.

If they had sense (possible) they would price it sensibly to get as many locals in as possible.
They keep banging on about that’s the plan and then they as good as price them out.

Think on Charlton, you really could get some new long term fans here.
I obviously don't want us to price at a silly level,  but I'm sceptical whether watching us comfortably lose to a weakened Chelsea team would gain us many new fans

Thanks to who ever swapped this over from the Other Football and Sports Category thread, it makes sense.👍

They will play on the fact it’s a gold category game or whatever they call it.

Given we've been smashed in the Championship lately, I am surprised how excited people are to see us play against one of the best teams in the world (even if that is less true than previous years). I can't see this being close especially with the state of our squad.
Zero chance Chelsea field a side they'd be putting out in the champions league 10 days later.
That being said, their b team or U21s will be more than strong enough for our current defensive lineup.

If the clubs agree a sensible ticket price i.e top price £20 then a good crowd should result
Charlton's chances of being in the hat for the 4th round draw not helped by the extra time and penalties/no replay.  Our 2nd string another step down from the quality on which Enzo Maresca can draw.

Love to see us give them a good game.
£20 would be nice but they could price this at £35-£40 and it would still sell out.

I'm not sure the home areas sell out at £40

People might use their Christmas money to buy a ticket.
I think a percentage of receipts go to the FA, then there is the VAT, and half the money goes to Chelsea.
I think if this is a televised game, and the ticket prices are shrewd and there is the ‘prize money’ for reaching the third round, we still might clear a quarter of a million quid from the game, also know as a day’s pay for Garnacho😉

There are a ton of visitors who would pay that to see Chelsea.

If the tickets are restricted, then maybe not.

I think £25 is more than reasonable and fair, fingers crossed 🤞
Hopefully TV money with a sold out ground also means more merch and food/drink sold and the hearts and minds of casual local support.

I think a lot depends on when the game is played. It seems likely to be on telly. If it's a Monday night I couldn't see us selling out. Last night's crowd was pretty poor and evening games always see a drop off in attendance, Wycombe being a very happy exception.

I would love us to sell out but TV and pricing are obviously huge factors. As could be our form. If we continue to lose league games how important is a 3rd round FA Cup tie?

Would have preferred it away to tick another ground off but home will do nicely.
Blimey, the amount of times I’ve seen us play at Stamford Bridge must be close to double figures.
You’re old. There’s a whole generation that’s never seen us at at prem ground. Not sure how old Martin is, mind 🤣
I’ve done 72/92 current grounds of which 9 of the 20 outstanding grounds are in the Prem. Of the 9 outstanding in the Prem 6 of those have since moved to a new ground having been to the old so call it 78 if you like.

Ticket prices of £42+ put me off in the Prem years and our last visit there was also in 2006? Would imagine a large section of our support has never seen us play there.

My son for instance. Born in 2003 & probably starting taking him in 2006 or 2007. Only started taking him to away games in 2008. Seen us at Fulham & Man U in the cup but no other Prem teams. Gutted that we we finally played West Ham it was under lockdown rules.

Funnily though he is buzzing for this one. When I asked wouldn't he have preferred it at Stamford Bridge he said no because we probably wouldn't have got a ticket.

Mine too.  His first away was probably around 2009/2010 against Brentford.  He’s done Man U and Spurs (home end thx to a Tottenham ST acquaintance) but we’ve had as much fun(?) at Colchester and Port Vale.  Away would have been nice cos I haven’t been to the Bridge for 25+ years
AA jrs first away was the 1-1 with Palace when Bowyer scored a cracker. His next was the 3-0 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup. He doesn’t remember much of either, he was only a few months old, but taking him with me, gave his mum a bit of a rest.
