    I'm not going to carry on but use your head mate. If it's going to kick off down your street and locals are going to protect then fair enough get involved. I probably would if it was down my way and all the locals were gathering. When someone comes from bermondsey to protect eltham they are only turning up for 1 thing. I live bexleyheath way but I'm not going to be going to lewisham, eltham, hackney etc

    That depends. They may live in Bermondsey but come from Eltham, work in Eltham or have family or friends in Eltham. I would rather protect Bexley, where I was born, than the town in which I live now.

    i think the police in eltham are just trying to get everyone off the streets now. no matter what there reason for being there.

    so many police in eltham from what i can see on sky news. no violence tho.

    Looks to me like they are breaking up the "defenders". No sign of running battles. Loads of police and not alot else.

    Where have the EDL come from? 
    Heard they were handing out leaflets at the Den Bosch game and now they are around in Eltham.

    Hadn't heard of them before the leaflet hand out.

    all seems to have calmed down again.....hot air by the sounds of it and a few bottles thrown but totally outnumbered by the police..people dispersing according to sky.

    didn't even realise it was happening until flicked channel and my place was on sky news.

    all i've seen is loads of riot police moving people on.

    I agree totally with smashing up some looters and rowdy youth who are threatening innocents, but this could be seen a mile off.

    And I know a lot of people are there with the sole purpose of community and protection. Yet again though, the mindless few spoil it for others, these incidents do attract a fair few rent-a-mobs.
