  • Oh please stop the Boris bashing, its totally totally pathetic.

WTF could he have done to stop this.

Political point scoring on this is totally pathetic - please refer to earlier post on Red Ken.

Just been up Welling high street. Saw a few police cars racing down wickham lane maybe towards Plumstead. A lot of the shops are closed and some are boarding themselves up. Good police presence sweeping up and down the street. Saw a few rude boys but most of them are the mouthy, no-trousers Welling selection. Don't think we have much to fear down here, they don't really compare to the Croydon / Woolwich yoot scene, and there aren't any electrical shops in Welling worth looting.

Or any shops of any kind, at that.

But whoever posted 'heard welling's just been done' needs to have a think before they post again.

Got to support Leroy Ambrose here, this thread can be an invaluable source of information regarding local events. I for one won't rest easy until Mrs Plum gets home from work up town when she finishes around 6.15, and I am anxious to know the reality regarding trains and restrictions and so on. Rumour and speculation has it's place, but it would be great if folk could post solid info on here, and swerve the speculation a bit.

some woman has just tweeted saying "they burnt all the animals at pets at home in charlton last night, sick f*****s!"

she's either trying to pull a sick joke or she is genuinely stupid seeing as the only places that got done were sports gear and electrical shops...

From net: The instant messaging service on BlackBerry smartphones, thought to be used by London rioters to organise themselves, may be shut down at the request of the police tonight

About time, bbm appears to be the scums favourite means of communication. Lets hope this slows down the ability of the mobs to avoid the police.

Sydenham on "LockDown" (Shopkeepers words, not mine). SG Smiths, on the corner of Sydenham Road/Mayow Road, have moved all their vechicles out, Shops with shutters all down. Feel sorry for shopkeepers (and Pubs like the Dolphin) who have full glass fronts. Been in for half hour or so: weird "tension" in the air.....Have to go out to my Dads at 5pm (other side of Sydenham Road). Anyone know the sewer/tunnel plan round here ?

So while they're protecting McDonalds in Eltham, who's protecting their houses/wives/children ? And who exactly are they anticipating coming down to Eltham ?

My mum has just driven from Charlton to Erith. lots of traffic with people getting home but no signs of any problems as such. Maidstone is closing up apparently, sounds like everyone is taking precautions. Seems a bit OTT maybe but better safe than sorry
