Lots of precautionary measures by police, in nearly all areas people being told to go home early 'purely as a precaution'. Lots of rumours but nothing being reported as yet.
Spoke to my mate in the TSG and he said to expect completely different policing tonight. They are off the leash.
SE9ADDICK The same people who scare the life out of old ladies in Bexleyheath on most school days from 3 to 5. You need to see it to believe it. Some of the 14 and 15 year olds look in their 20's.
Croydon murder victim shot in head after being chased by cars; police hunting 9 men; 2 others who were with victim arrested over looting......................This from The Times.
RIM -the company behind Blackberry have had their website hacked in response to their promise to assist Police regarding the BBM messages used by rioters. Possibly why it appears to have shut down BBM.
Lakeside only just opened, been closed all day. South Ockendon swarming with police, unconfirmed reports of pub on fire in Southend.
I've been in Southend all afternoon and it's totally calm near the high street. I haven't been everywhere in town, but I haven't seen anything to suggest a fire.
Was just on Eltham High St and there was no trouble. Not many people around apart from the usual chaps you see around the pubs in Eltham. Think everywhere is closing as a precaution and I'm not actually expecting a lot of trouble in London,
4.15pm - Mrs Plum arrives home; caught the train from Charing X to Dartford (got off at Lee), stopping at all stations. When walking home from Lee station she saw five police cars present. Bellamy's Citroen garage have cleared all the vehicles from their forecourt, interestingly.
There was a group of about 8 or 9 police at the main entrance at the bottom of Greenwich Park (community police judging by their sizes and shapes) but no police presence at any of the other entrances. The park was open and quite busy with tourists. The museum is shut. Lots more shops and restaurants being boarded up as I came back. Marks & Spensers now closed.
Popped in to see my sister who had just been sent home from work early. She got on the train at London Bridge and she told me there were about 20 or 30 white blokes in her carriage (not wearing suits or office clothes) with their phones contantly receiving text messages and they were all openly talking about what laptops and playstations they were were going to get tonight! I asked if she was sure they were not just joking. She assured me they seemed deadly serious. Bluewater kept getting mentioned.
@chunes said: Saw a few rude boys but most of them are the mouthy, no-trousers Welling selection. Don't think we have much to fear down here, they don't really compare to the Croydon / Woolwich yoot scene, and there aren't any electrical shops in Welling worth looting.
This is what i was trying to say earlier about bexleyheath, but got taken in the wrong context. sorry for offending.
