Just been out for a couple of hours. Was in Eltham when they started closing the shops. Police said they were reacting to unsunstantiated rumours. They couldn't say nothing would happen, they were simply taking precautions incase it did.
Took my duaghter up to Sidcup on the bus for lunch. Tension in the air everywhere. But little else. There is a visable police prescence and I suspect if it kicks off anywhere it is going to be stamped on.
Social media is fuelling the panic and bringing these clowns out of their hidy holes.

Who is that guy? I keep seeing him popping up in different places and he keeps shouting out about Mark Duggan and innocent black youth. It's like he's trying to fuel the problem. Not trying to put a racism slant on things but I don't get how he keeps popping up shouting this stuff and never gets done?
Just come home via Cutty Sark DLR. A lot of shops, restaurants and pubs in Greenwich are shutting down. Some have been boarded up. The Italian family that run the new pizza place opposite the Galleon have have moved and up turned all the tables against the door and are just sitting and standing outside. Marks & Spencer is still open but restricting entry. Shall be joging through Greenwich park in a few minutes so will report back anything.
That's the one @drawnablank Boris ended up leaving the crowd, after the fool made remarks as to how the police hadn't contacted Marks family and how an innocent man had died. An uneducated fool enticing violence.

Can I make a request here please? Ordinarily I'm all for threads descending into the anarchy of he-said, she-said, off-topic shenanigans. However, at the moment there are genuinely people using this (myself included) for information on a situation that could once again rapidly escalate out of control. This was an invaluable source of information for many people last night and, if it goes off again tonight, probably will be again. I know you mean well, but please keep 'rumours' off of here. Whatever you may think, they do more harm than good. If anyone has any FACTS about GENUINE trouble, post it here. If it's just hearsay or rumours repeated, then leave it out please. Thanks.
Iwork in croydon, all sorts of rumours flying about and the shiopping centre has closed. Sparrows, where did you hear about eltham? I hope this isnt true.
It's true. Eltham being advised to shut down. My mum works nearby, shops are shutting there too.
Locals are out in force in Eltham, a mixture of Millwall, Charlton & West Ham plus other assorted loons waiting to defend it.

I may do. Depends how close the trouble gets, will head home to my mum & sister, don't fancy leaving them alone either and then decide what to do.

He works for Greenwich Council, but he is based in Woolwich offices. He has a staff radio that is providign updates but he isnt in cotrol of it and cant hear it properly. Plus its some hear'say from other council officers. Im just worried about the missus that all. Shes by herself until i get home and hasnt got the slightest clue

No. Eltham is quiet but plenty of locals out & about standing their ground. No rioters have congregated there or heading there at the moment...but it's only 3pm!
That guy heckling Boris was Mark Wordsworth or Wadsworth or similar - he is a campaigner heavily involved with the Mark Duggan matter. He was on Sky yesterday arguing with John O'Connor the ex-Met Commander. He is an unpleasant man who was defending the behaviour of the rioters, giving the normal vitriol.

The guy stirring it up in alot of places is Lee Jasper --ring any bells ? he was Red Kens right hand man. Last night Red Kens ex press officer said Livingstons comments were " far removed from the real World"---------one day i really hope i get one good punch in on that slim ball.
A few sirens going off in distance near Shootershill Rd, but that could mean anything. the 89/178 and 386 buses still all running and the dustmen are still out.Would expect if its going off around here one of these wouldnt be running.
