Anyone know when the ban will take effect if not overturned? I'll be gutted if I don't get to see him on friday night.

Ref was wrong side, and watching the tackle on tv this am, that is not a sending off.

question is has the ref got the balls to change his decision, we never win appeals, remember sankofa?

Having just seen the footage, I'd agree that it wasn't a sending off offensive. Suspect it'd be pointless appealing though, the Ref didn't strike me as the sort who'd be willing to contemplate he might have got it wrong.

Isn't it down to a panel now, not the ref?

I don't know how, in a million years, that was deemed a dismissal offence when the right back who stamped on Reid's head didn't even get carded?

When I saw it I screamed at the tv even though I knew he was gonna be sent off, couldn't believe it was a red.

Which TV the big non working one at The Valley? :-)

I was geniunely shocked, the ref hadn't a clue.. both sets of fans thought he was a tool and when that happens it's usually a sign of a very bad ref, not just a what seems to a bias one on the day..

It was from when I saw it on the BBC Football league show, like a whole 6-7 hours after the incident!

Symes also admitted he sympathised with Semedo and said he would have been disappointed to have seen red had the boot been on the other foot.

“To start with, it was a bad touch by me,” said the 26-year-old. “I was trying to retrieve the ball and he came in. I didn’t think it was that much of a bad tackle. We were both low and it wasn’t as if he went over the top or anything. He did catch me so, whatever the ref says, goes.”

I don't think we'll appeal. We'll just play Racon or move Jackson into the centre and play Fry at left back.

Glad we're appealing that - completely fair tackle. Fair play to the opponent for being honest.

Doubt we'll be successful - have we ever been?

High risk move, didn't expect that, given one of the games was the League Cup. But if the FA come up with a 'frivolous appeal' verdict, we should blitz them with email protest.

Our team and our club is getting stuck in again, lets back them every way we can.
  • Expect a 5 game ban, points deduction and a 200k fine for a frivolous appeal!

Good idea, although I expect the FA will ignore our protests.

Sure they will. But if it was a big enough protest we might then get some media coverage, and it might help change things.

To be clear, its not the suspension I'd be protesting about. As Peter Varney uncovered when we went to court over Sankofa, its a disgraceful system. There are no clear guidelines for what constitutes "frivolous". Thats what gets me. How can you be punished further when you have no idea whether or not you are doing something that should be punished?

Of course if the refs were allowed to call video evidence on the spot, they could do away with the entire appeals system, and also hand out mandatory cards to any player who verbals the referee while the video is re-run. Thats how it is in ice hockey. You dont get any mass intimidation of refs there, because they have taken away the presumed objective, that of getting him to change his mind

If the appeal fails he might get hit with an extra game ban, which means he will miss Huddersfield away.

Let's get the Semedo song going really loud at Spurs - it will sound fantastic in that stadium and may give him an extra boost.

Also, If Becks is on show before the game, I guess we ought to show our appreciation for his efforts for England and leave songs about his mrs until the game is underway.

It might make a change from booing our own team.
