What red5 said. Racon would have booted the dug out and chucked his dolly out the pram. Could call it passion but semedo knows that would get him no where and got off the pitch as soon as his number was on the board. Although you definatley can say the same about christian. His professionalism is class. His been there done it & got a lot of experience.
But for me i had never heard of semedo before he joined us & last season he showed how much he cares about the club with his performances & passion.
Anyone think this was a straight red offence. I havnt seen it on tv yet but i actually thought he got the ball. Reaction of the bournemouth players imo got him sent off. Thought he was going to cry as he walked off. Gonna miss him massivly for the 3 games if a successful appeal dont go through.
From my angle I thought it was a reckless two footed lunge that was pretty foolish particularly given the referee was absolutely horrible today.
However, I was more or less directly looking through the Bournemouth player on the receiving end and so had pretty much no chance of seeing the ball, let alone seeing if the ball was nicked.
Looking forward... if that's the right expression... to seeing it on the highlights tonight.
We'll and I'll miss him, he looked in pieces as he was walking off to a great reception.. IMHO it was a ball both went in for, and if there weren't so many bournemouth players crowded around, some play acting and a very blind ref it would have been a booking. I'd have took a 1-0 win at start of game, but anyone sent off but Semedo or Dailly! :(
[cite]Posted By: buckshee[/cite]Said straight away to Rothko that it was a red. Two footed clumsy lunge. I don't think he's a dirty player just clumsy
Just saw the tackle on SSN never a sending off he went in one footed, clash of knees afterwards. We have to appeal that.
When I first see the challenge my first thought it was a 50/50 and was a bit peed off the ref had given them a freekick, thought a freekick to them was unfair so to see the red card i just couldnt believe it. Providing it doesn't cost a bucket full we must appeal! As Len says, at least if we do miss him for 3 games one is the league cup so that gets one out of the way.
i think its 3 league games but hopefully we get it over ruled. on to a different subject bbc sport says kyel reid scored but im pretty sure akpo scored ;)
Interesting that Semedo today was the 3rd time in last 6 years we have had a red card on the opening day. We don't get a huge number of sending offs over the season so strange we have gone down to 10 men in half of the opening games since 2005.
Refs often have to start a new season with a directive from the FA to clamp down hard and make decisions to the letter of the law - rather than using their discretion and commonsense.
Don't forget, there's usually an accessor sitting in the stands - and one thing refs will be particularly judged on is decision making. So the refs are afraid to be assessed for not applying the laws strictly, regardless.
Often there is a glut of cards, yellows and reds, throughout August.and into September. By October, most refs tend to be more lenient.
What showed to me was Semedo's reaction. He was saying to the ref it wasn't a foul once the freekick had been given but then when he got the red out you just see Jose look up to the card and his jaw dropped! As previously mentioned, I think it was yellow at best, got to appeal.
Think the ref had a mare today and if he was being watched he's in trouble.

I do have man-love for Semedo though. He does genuinely seem like a lovely fella.

Please correct my post above from my view at the time. It was never ever ever a sending off. I'll gladly donate to the appeal fund!
If yes then only 2 league games which, whilst bad, is not AS bad.
You can't believe all you read on the Beeb, young man.
As Henry says ..... if it's on the OS it must be true.
They say Idoro Akpoeyere Ujoma Sodje scored.
End of.
I was having fun too, CG!
PS: Here's me having a winky ;o)
