Apologies for the religious reference, but I’m sure our manager would approve.Weegie Addick said:Don’t know where to start on that really. Had vibes of Black Sabbath at Highbury when 3-0 up and thinking we might get a draw because of that opening 15-20 when we were seriously under the cosh. The clock also seemed to be ticking v slowly. But as Leaburn and TC hit their stride (they play so well together) and Kayne turned back into a confident immovable force we just got better and better.Delighted for the travelling Addicks while also being madly jealous as I wasn’t there. Tried to sync up Tel and Browny to the Sky pictures but our dodgy rural WiFi signal kept buffering so gave up and suffered the Sky commentary. By the end they had us down as world beaters. Didn’t someone on pre-match thread predict 0-3 and everyone starts to take notice? Who was that?Just a word of caution (sorry, I can go a bit Oohaah at times): back in 2019 we had 21 points after 12 matches. We’d need to beat Hull to match that. Then it all went pear-shaped with Gallagher going, Covid, the 🐍 etc. So a long way to go yet.In the meantime let’s enjoy the ride whatever happens!
The difference is that this house is built on rock. That one was built on sand. There’s every chance we're not going to finish 5th, but this wonderful squad and outstanding manager are not letting us sink like last time.2 -
Absolutely knackered this morning, but what a result. Those nights are the ones that make all of the other crap worth it. So glad I decided to go.
Seen a couple of great games there now, Leaburn Senior hat-trick many moons ago and now that.
We've got a team here, let's enjoy it and see where we go.22 -
Does anyone know if Macauley Bonne liked the Ipswich postings on social media after the match?26

I’d be more happy to see them leave first at that gamecarly burn said:Just in. Don't get away much these days but me and my youngest were there.
Pretty unbelievable night really.
Just had a feeling we'd come away with something but wasn't expecting that 10-15 mins of complete madness.
We struggled to get to grips with them in the first half. As expected, Jack Clarke was an absolute pain in the arris, as he was in the pre season friendly. Kayne was really struggling to get the measure of him. Ashley Young was outstanding for an old fella. Tanto had a great chance to put us one up but his miss really didn't concern me. I think it would've been too early. They would have thrown the sink at us as well has having the half time break for McKenna to get at them, I think we would've struggled to hang on.
The half time team talk must've been a good 'un.
Bree teamed up with Ramsey to stem the Clarke flow and
Carey went from quite passive to f****g aggressive and Ipswich looked stunned when he took it to them for the first goal.
Kelman, who I thought had a good game launched an absolute rocket which I'd like to see back. He really gave that everything and the second goal came from the resulting corner.
The third was Dreamland and I think most in our stand were pretty shocked..either that or they thought the linesman would disallow it!
Any road.Jones played an absolute blinder. A free hit against a side expected to turn us over is right up his street and he proved it again.
My son's premonition on the way home, our 30 year wait to beat the scum up the road will be at Wembley on 23rd May!!
We can dream son6 -
I’m a bit late posting on here. Sorry, I’m still waiting for Sonny Carey to finish shagging my wife.41

That was effing magic!1

One quick thought, though. After all the years of mad, corrupt, or incompetent ownership and all the struggles, how great is it to have a decent club again with a brilliant (if nuts) manager and a team that you can be proud of? Here we are, really competing In the Championship. It’s great to be back.21

Great performance from all and subs made huge impact. Liking what I see.0

Waking up and being proud of a Charlton performance win or lose is such a lovely feeling and something I've missed greatly in the last 10 years or so.
We have a really solid ownership who do their work quietly and without fuss.
We have a batshit bonkers manager who is proving more and more each week what a technically superb tactician he is.
And we have a playing staff who literally give everything for the shirt week in week out.
Last night's result is superb and a real high point for the season so far, but I'm enjoying being a well run club again just as much. Great stuff18 -
Just read on Twitter that Brenner was there again... getting a bug for it22

Hard to not look at the crowds/atmosphere at the moment and think "I want a bit of that".CAFCsayer said:Just read on Twitter that Brenner was there again... getting a bug for it
We were chatting in the car back that if by some chance we are "in the mix" - what happens in January?
Where would/could we strengthen other than trying to tie up Bree? You don't usually get decent forward players and we're a relatively settled/tight knit squad.
And yes. I am getting ahead of myself and I don't care.7 -
Very quietly had the same chat with my old man last night, then we both agreed to shut up and not jinx it!WSS said:

Hard not to get carried away sometimes isn't it3 -
The last thing we need to do is ruin the hard work, all in it togetherness of this squad - but if we only had a "Bannan-like" midfielder who could control the midfield and play through the middle, we would be in with a real chance.WSS said:

That was a good watch. I really thought Saturdays match was the must and hoped we might snatch a draw. But 6 points from 2 games gives us now a bit of breathing space for Saturdays match at Hull, which may prove to be a bit tougher than last night.
I thought we rode our luck a bit in the first half but we also should of had a couple before the break with two really good chances that obviously weren't converted. I missed the first two goals, my wife had changed channels while I went for a halftime shower. So it was a nice surprise once I took back control of my telly to find we had scored two quick goals. We dominated from there and never looked like we were under any serious threat. There was some talk on Sky whether the ball had gone out for Leaburns goal, I bias so it didn't and Campbells assist was well deserving a goal.
Only downer on the evening, Millwall, they don't look bad at all.2 -
There are so many comparisons with Powell's squad. The astute signings, the connection with the fans, a mix of experience and youth and a squad that has depth.
Jones clearly has a way of creating a camaraderie within a group of players and getting them to commit totally to his ethos and style of play. He manages to achieve this against a backdrop of being pretty ruthless and eccentric, but this is clearly a squad that is totally together. Even those who are getting limited game time join in with the celebrations and enjoyment.13 -
That was blinding
nothing to add on the game/ performances etc
so only 3 things
1) brought a Chelsea supporting mate along as he lives 20 mins from Ipswich. He loved it, was well impressed on all fronts and if he never comes to a game again seeing him sing repeatedly and with genuine glee “you’ve seen the Charlton now fuck off home!” is a memory I’ll cherish - so good to be oozing with pride again at the minute after all these humiliating years
2) I wish our fans could master Twist n Shout. It’s a tough one to do but if everyone could nail it it would sound class on repeat and would be pretty much the only chant we’ve ever had that’s not lifted from another club!!
3) Portman Road is a great away day - topped off by a superb screen Ipswich have managed to shoehorn into a tiny space in their historic stadium!!! 🤣11 -

Incredible performance - weird that the team did not seem leggy at all. Was surprised given mediocre performance against sheff Wednesday.
Thought Kelman/Tanto looked like more balanced partnership so would go with that again for Hull.
Want to see Leaburn/Campbell start together at some point as they look to have good understanding. Though appreciate this would impact the way we press teams.
Now that we are promotion contenders maybe teams will get wuse to our tactics and start sitting back against us. Leaburn/Campbell would be ideal in this scenario.

Am pretty sure Coventry (?) were singing this one before we adopted in 2018/19paulsturgess said:That was blinding

We were outplayed for the first half hour and I’d be amazed if anyone thought at that stage that we would come away with a win. Although Ipswich hit the bar we squandered two great first half chances ourselves that Tanto and then Macca will not look back on with any pride. But we came back into it and then went on to produce an imperious second half performance with three goals to seal a thumping win and move up to 5th in the championship. A very special night for all Addicks.
Far too many highlights to mention but the late Kayne Ramsay block as Hirst was about to score was fantastic. And Amari'i Bell was superb throughout. And TC and Miles were great when they came on. And. And. And, so many others.

This quote is so true!cantersaddick said:Sometimes it's just your night.
Football can be such a bonkers game at times and it’s unpredictably is everything. At points we looked boys against men and I feared a shoeing as Clarke, Nunez and Cajuste just seemed to totally dominate midfield.
Yet we rode it out, missed a couple of good chances and then Bang Bang Bang!
I still feared if they got 1 they would then get 3, and I didn’t relax till about 86 mins. What a result, absolutely brilliant.16 -
Watched this one at a mates house with all their housemates, none of them really into football but they all think charlton are mint now! possibly the perfect away performance valliant defending and three goals, am quietly confident coming up against hull at the weekend6

Fantastic for what seemed from the telly an amazing travelling support. We’ve had it rough on the road in recent years and it’s great we are getting a few buzzing away experiences to reward the faithful.
My away decision making to balance funds is borderline horrific. Skipped the Orient comeback to go Birmingham last season and swerved Ipswich this week to go Hull…17 -
Even at 3 I had similar concerns. Great Evening.WSS said:Even at 2-0, @Plaaayer and I said "I'd take 2-2 if you offered it".
Years of torture does that to you.
1st Goal Kelman does a great job dragging the covering defender away when realises his pals in trouble it too late to get back to cover.
2nd Tanto is fuming whilst everyone's celebrating feels he should've done better.
Great attitude from the players squad as whole play for one another its a joy to watch.
Ipswich were a very good side cracking result.2 -
If only we had a midfielder who played two clever forward passes, both of which resulted in goals, and who covers much more ground and does much more defensive work than BannanCharltonManor1966 said:

I hate to actually mention it but we seem to have a real team on our hands !! When you look at players like Ramsey, Carey, Jones to name but 3 how the fuck were they not playing higher when we signed them ?
hull will be another big test but we should fear nobody. Starting Kelman with Tanto is the way ahead imo then let TC and Miles run at tired defenders3
