Great Win, only saw the score at 10.30 so well pleased. What is it with Sky highlights, I understand that we also had a few more chances apart from the goals. Watching the highlights it looked like all Ipswich, especially the first half.
The highlights gives a skewed version of events. They show some close attempts by Ipswich but also some that really could not be considered worthy of inclusion and also omit Olaofe's chance and Gillesphey's miss. Yes, they show our goals but not any of our other chances.

Anyone still think Kelman is a dud?😂
Kelman is a good player- Nathan's system is all about not giving away goals, but I hope that we will get more offensive once we have safety secured. He will score goals after Xmas, but our playing style is brilliant because we are so hard to beat, so our forwards all get isolated. Charlie's running, touch and pressing is brilliant and I wish all our fans get behind him now.

The TEAM is more important than one player and he is already playing his part.

As for the ball being out of play it’s debatable.
From what I saw (and made out), it was 50/50…..was the “whole circumference of the ball” outside the line, the bottom surface of the ball certainly was but highly debatable from what we’ve seen IMHO.
When this happens light is seen between the bottom of the ball and the line this sometimes misleads the viewer to believe that the whole circumference is outside the line……especially when it’s happening so fast.

Someone posted this on the Ipswich X feed. I guess they’re pointing out how good the lino’s eyesight was.
Lino does not "guess". He has to be sure the ball is out before he gives it. Not the other way round.

The ball is not out just because you can see grass underneath it. That's because it is in the air! This was all explained in the world cup when we had that goal with 3-D diagrams to show how the ball was partially above the line!

Ipswich starting back line cost £35m.
According to Transfermarket.com, our entire squad is valued at 17.9m Euros. The same site shows the Ipswich squad valued at 278.6m Euros, so their squad was 16.7 times more valuable than ours.

I know they got a massive windfall for going up, but how the hell did they assemble a squad like that in 3 to 4 years ?

Mckenna was very arrogant about us, so I am delighted we smashed them,

    NJ is a genius.

We're going to meet Millwall at Wembley in the play off final, aren't we? :-)
keep playing last night night and we will get promoted automatically

Our best all round performance under Jones. We looked class. Helped by a couple of big decisions finally going our way, their offside goal and TC's pull back for Leaburn's goal, which most refs this season, would have ruled out of play.
TC looked a different player with fresh legs, and Leaburn looked back to his best.
Shout out to Gillespie who always seems to nick important goals at the right time
100% right - use the squad and rotate the forwards, according to the opposition, the status of a game and fitness levels.

Just a shame that tremendous long range shot from Kelman didn't go in, that would have put the cherry on top of that big cake, was really impressed with every single player last night
Big shout out for that defensive back line especially in that intense first half, we are really focused there, they must have been shattered going in at half time, NJ weaved his magic at half time, and an entirely different team came out with renewed vigour and game plan, we just blew them away very quickly.
10/10 for our incredible travelling support, never stopped singing all night, what a club we are...

Great point - I was so bored listening to the endless ass licking of Ipswich by Sky.

NJ has built a bunker mentality across the entire club in a very positive way and long may that continue.

Main thing now is to build confidence across the squad and rotate some key players when we can.

We have conceded 9 goals after 11 games - look at where we were only a year ago.

    Incredible

I hate to actually mention it but we seem to have a real team on our hands !! When you look at players like Ramsey, Carey, Jones to name but 3 how the fuck were they not playing higher when we signed them ?

hull will be another big test but we should fear nobody. Starting Kelman with Tanto is the way ahead imo then let TC and Miles run at tired defenders
Carey and Ramsey are young and are just getting better and better.

The Jones one is the real mystery. The bloke is an absolute titan. Would have no problem playing in the Premier League. I worry about what an injury to him would do to us because I think he is that pivotal in our back line.

Absolutely brilliant all round last night. That 15 minutes where we got the 3 goals is right up there with my favourite moments following Charlton.

Starting to also prove we're not a 'take the lead and sit back side'. Kept looking for more goals, TC and Kelman both unlucky not to get off the mark last night. What Nathan Jones has done to this club is northing short of incredible. Thought we'd be in League Two after his first game away at Reading. 20 months later I'm now seeing people getting cash out offers for a Top 6 Championship finish

The last time we played there was a 6-0 defeat with a centre back pairing of Hector and Inniss.

Well and truly buried that nightmare tonight.
Inniss ? FFS as I forgot all about him.

First goal was just superb individual quality from Carey

Second was a lovely move. Coventry to Carey. Very decent effort from Oloafe and then we get that bit of luck with the Macca header

Third was my favourite. Lloyd Jones playing like a Target man, another excellent ball from Coventry and superb from TC.

    Really nice goals all round.
  • Absolutely no way the lino could see from where he was if the ball was out of play. Potentially if it had been on his side he might have had a chance, but trying to look over to the other side through a few players, no chance. Can't give it if he's not sure.

I think I also heard the fans sing ‘Ed Sheeran’s a wanaker’.
    Bit harsh I thought.

I'm wondering on the second one, was it one of their players or one of ours that booted the ball into the away end? Can anyone who was there remember?

Woke up randomly at 3am, so watched the first half, accidentally fell asleep at half time feeling quite confident.

Was definitely not expecting that when I woke up though, absolutely mental result.

My Ipswich mate says we were the best set of away fans seen at PR in a good while.

He denies being NJ’s “cheeky f…”

Not sure how Ipswich had higher xG than us, given Olaofe and Gillesphey's chances were more clear-cut than anything they created. I'm guessing it's just an accumulation of 25+ long shots.
I’m assuming the model used isn’t taking into account the position of the GK. Leaburn and Gillesphey goals should have much higher xG as they were both pretty much open goals

I thought the first half, although we had 2 big chances, was one of our worst of the season. Tried to play out too much and got caught out often, and could barely get out of our half for most of it

Jones must have put a rocket up them at half time. We were much more aggressive, pushed higher up the pitch and played the game in their half.

Some good stats that show the transformation

    1st Half Passes:
    Own Half: 54
    Opposition Half: 16
    Final Third: 6

    2nd Half Passes:
    Own Half: 30
    Opposition Half: 50
    Final Third: 30

What is more telling is that none of the Ipswich players appealed at all. Not the keeper nor the defender who was 2 yards away. And players appeal for everything !
