  • Burke also proper cover for Jones.
  • Ramsey comes straight back in but Burke is a very able deputy
I'm not at all sure about Ramsay coming straight back in.

NJ may not want to change a winning team. And give Ramsay a gentle little reminder not do such a stupid thing again.

Brilliant today. In and out of possession. I think he’s won that job over Apter.

He is a natural full back so has the advantage

Ramsay is the best player in the squad, he comes straight back in

I was surprised how advanced he was at times, especially for the goal from a goal kick. I had wrongly assumed he would have naturally been playing a deeper role than Apter does, but not sure that was the case.

That was my take too, Apter so far and Bree yesterday both played as wingers to give us width high on the right when we have the ball, and track back as a wing back when we don’t have it.

Makes sense as we didn’t have to change any players role and potentially unbalance the team. He won’t offer the flair and excitement of Apter but he still ended the game with an assist by making a good run and making the right decision.

Breeliant for Apter to have strong competition, even if he’ll plays the role very differently.

I also wouldn’t assume the plan is for Fukuda to join on a free to replace him.
  • I’d expect Bree to be our number one RWB target now unless he’s simply wanting too much. If our attempt to sign Fukuda had come to something then Bree wouldn’t be here. I’m guessing that our interest in Fukuda has very much cooled unless we know Bree is a non starter to sign permanently.

Interesting that NJ said Bree was his first choice for the RWB position, because Rob Apter has been very good. It's a great pair to have fighting for a place.

Bree looks like he's got a fantastic delivery, so hopefully we can start taking more advantage of our 6'7 striker.

Going to be some interesting conversations with Southampton over the coming months.

  • He was getting forward so much that the useless commentator on BeIn Sports kept calling him "Carey" despite the fact he had "Bree" written on the back of his shirt.
His deliveries for Doc's header and the goal were of Premier League class.
Love Ramsay, but feel that his talents could be better utilised as an attacking midfielder, similar to how Morts was converted.
He carries the ball and evades challenges with such ease, and is brilliant in the challenge.
It's a nice problem to have two players of such quality challenging for the same position.

I mean, I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that was the best assist by a Charlton player since that absurd Chuks one for Alfie May 2 years ago

I'm liking the look of Bree.
    He was excellent yesterday.

I would have hoped, perhaps optimistically, that we have already had the conversation of If, when, and how much.

We’ve got games Saturday and Tuesday next week. Might end up with Ramsay and Apter playing Saturday and then Burke and Bree for the Tuesday night away. Think it’s unlikely we would risk starting Burke in both, and maybe similar for Bree

That's exactly what I think NJ will do.

Would be nice to have a squad where you can comfortably change 4 or 5 starters and not feel like you've weakened the side. Bree, Burke, Knibbs and Olaofe coming in for Ramsay, Apter, Carey and Kelman for instance.

Was that the one he did straight after we'd had about a million posts on here saying he needed to be medically retired? That was a good day

Think so. Was that comeback against Blackpool where CBT scored his one assigned screamer for us two minutes later so everyone forgot that Chuks' assist was actually better and more skillful

Whatever the fee Southampton want for a guy with 6 months to run in Jan , pay it. Class act.
